Love how Mark Oliver perfectly played the subdued, scheming villain for ~45 episodes before absolutely popping off at the end for Rau's descent into madness.

I never really liked dubs, but whoever is the guy who did Rau he captured the passion that the original Seiyuu did in the Japanese Gundam Seed, hats off to him.
His logic was sound, if you see it from the defeatist view it was, everything he says can also be reversed, people complete to get stronger, they envy to give them the strength to try to achieve something greater than themselves. Its that gray area in the universe
Remember what tanya the evil said, humans are foolish creatures who sometimes prize feelings over reason. While Rau may have logical reason to his nihilistic views, not all people are nihilists. Humans are complex. If humans were simple, we would have understood it. We would be so simple that we couldn't.

Yeah, we really don't give ocean enough credit. While I do think Funimation is superior in every way, it seems ocean has found their groove at last. In the case of gundam Ceed, I honestly can't tell you which dubbing is better.
The rest of the show is a slog to get through having re-watched the show several times since release. But well worth the last 5 or so episodes. For the roller-coaster of emotions from mu's death to flay to rau and kiras battle. Epic Af
Le Creuset is one of my absolute favourite gundam villains ever, for me what makes him great is the fact that his motivation is well thought out. It's clear why he hates humanity and what drew him there.

When this came out, I was just getting into anime, so this whole series pretty much blew my mind at the time. It sounds silly now, but after being raised on stuff like Batman, Spider-Man, and the like, Gundam SEED and InuYasha literally changed my life. I'd always loved cartoons, and realizing there were such amazing, mature stories, not just "little kid crap" as my father called any cartoon at the time, gave me such joy, and got me hooked fo life!
@typesaad not Funimation, it was dubbed by NYAV Post. Some genius just stamped the Funimation logo at the beginning to mislead people. If Funimation had actually dubbed it, it would have been better than what NYAV did to it.

Wait, I'm seeing the pattern here: Rau - knows nothing about human love Gil - was denied in love (they could've adopt Rey tho) -Glemy- -Ribbons- -Embryo- Orphee - thinks that love requires qualification on genetic level.

It honestly sounds awful. I couldn't get past episode 2 because Mark Oliver was that good as Rau; he was able to be menacing but still compelling. He didn't sound pure evil. Kevin Collins just sounds as if he's trying to be menacing and evil in a comic way.

Kevin is a great voice actor, and he does have some good lines as Rau ("BECAUSE I AM WHAT THEY _MADE_ ME!")... but in the end, he seems like he's still trying to be Griffith, not Rau. Rau was defined by Mark Oliver and his magnificent voice, and it's impossible to replicate the astounding energy he exuded as this magnificent bastard ("I AM THE _ONLY_ ONE WHO'S EARNED THAT RIGHT!").

Most of the caste in the Remaster was so poorly directed. So I absolutely agree. The directing for the new dub was awful. I hope they bring back the original dub for any future dubs. It's tragic because Rau is my favourite character and they really dropped the bomb on him.
