I just installed mine today on my 2018 TRD PRO 4Runner. I was shocked how much difference it made. WOW! Thanks for the info I am quite pleased. It was also so simple to install.
I installed mine but get an engine light and abs malfunction warning and no gas pedal function, also whilst idle it sits about 2000rpm and only decreases when I hit the brakes, can anyone help please
just installed mine and what i thought was sport 9 was actually race 9.. and i loved it! chose the sprint booster over peddle commander since I saw more people went into limp mode with the commander or threw a code..
One of our biggest gripes about the 4Runner is the "lack of power" which never made sense due to the HP specs as you mentioned. I felt like these things were snake oil, but I'm pretty intrigued now. Thank you guys!
The thing is, if you look at the actual power specs, those numbers occur so far up in the RPM range that you never really hit them. The peak numbers look good on paper, but in the real world they're pretty meaningless.
Just installed and tested. Indeed, it is a game changer when required on steep mtn passes and short momentum runs through sand and mud. Passing is also a solid application. I think race mode 9 is too much, 5 is solid and sport mode 5-9 is also a sweet spot. Don't need it around town or the valet or disable mode. Triple thumbs up.
Upgraded my 2019 TRD ORP to a 2022 TRD ORP. Anyone know if the Sprint Booster from my 2019 will work on the 2022s? The 2019s did not have any of the new safety sense features, so don't know if that matters at all? SB website still has 2010-2021 showing, not 2022. Thanks.
I’ve been running one for >18 months; I love it! Love the pups. Leave the controller within hands reach, you’ll be adjusting as needed. It doesn’t get better fuel economy. It’s just a better drive with the improved responsiveness. I use sport 5 daily. Off-road you’ll still use it, just say sport 2. Everyone’s different. Have fun. Thanks for another great video. Just checked I actually use race #5. 😂
I have a question about after you have been using this for the last year or two have you noticed if there is any type of damage to the vehicle In the transmission or the engine?
Just something to consider- having all that power instantly on demand in the higher Race settings is likely to cause extra wear on the engine mount bushings, if the throttle is surged on a daily basis. The engine will tilt aggressively if all the power is provided instantly. I dealt with this on a Mazda6 and had to upgrade its engine mount back in the day. I simply just want my 2020 4R throttle to feel like my old 2011 Tacoma OR throttle (it was sooo great!), and that's what I really didn't like when got into the 4R.
Hi I bought the sprint booster after watching your video thank you!! How did you get the original plug off the pedal? I’m having trouble there and you skipped over how you did it. Thank you for your help!
We've heard the Pedal Commander has issues. That's why we went with the Sprint Booster. We haven't had the slightest problem since we've installed it. We LOVE it!
Thanks for the great video. I have a few questions,, Do you still have it since making the video, any problems with it and have you noticed any mileage increase? I know you said it doesn't but I've read it increases mileage on some vehicles. Thanks
I have been using one of these in my FJ for the last couple of years. I think it was worth every penny. The install was pretty straight forward. I think it is not recommended to adjust the settings when the throttle is engaged. I usually just set it at sport mode 5. I have never noticed much if any difference with the MPGs.
From the Toyota 4Runner forums I follow, Sprint Booster is made in Europe therefore is more reliable and Power Commander is made in China. I have a Sprint Booster on my 4Runner.
We just bought a 2018 4Runner Limited with the TRD suspension and wheels. Has less than 13,000 miles on it. We love it! We are very interested in the Sprint Booster. We also own a 27 foot tri toon pontoon boat and a 17 foot camper. We plan to use the 4Runner to occasionally tow these items short distances. I've yet to find a review of the Sprint Booster used while towing a trailer. Have you guys tried towing a trailer with the Sprint Booster installed?
Now that you are a year out, Mary what is your typical setting for your daily driving? You never did say in the video other than to say it was one of the race settings. Mark, now that you've had a chance to use it off road, what is your favorite off road setting?
I totally get it. The other day I had to romp on the pedal to take advantage of a minor opening in the traffic and my 4runner gave the usual less than stellar response. I think I could benefit from this unit. I hope you do a long term update as I'm curious how much the fuel mileage is impacted. I am also curious how it may impact offroad travel but I tend to agree with you that the factory setting may be the way to go. Thanks for your input on this mod, now I must add it to my list of mods to get done. I just got word my new sliders are about to ship so I'm stoked to get those installed.
I'm thinking of purchasing a sprint booster. Now that you have had it awhile are you still happy with it? Have you had any problems with it since you have installed it? Are you going to do a update video on it? I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I read an opinion that the Sprint Booster improves off-road driving, too, because it provides better control (albeit NOT in race 9!) when doing obstacles. Seems to make sense, but I'd sure appreciate a video demo. Any chance you could do that for us?
Have read about this on the forums. Great video / info. I am a little nervous to put it on my brand new 4runner but maybe in a year or so. I have a red trd off road too.
Haha, the thing with the directions made me laugh. I'm glad you guys made a video on this, I've been considering one of these and I respect your opinion on these types of things. I think the 4 liter V6 is by far the worst thing about the 4Runner, so much in fact that every once in a while I think of getting rid of it for that reason. I think it's more than just the throttle pedal programming, to me it's that the peak numbers look fairly impressive on paper, but they occur so far up the RPM range that you don't really hit them during normal driving. The torque and horsepower peak are both above 4000 RPM, and I don't know about you guys, but mine spends its life right around 2,000 RPM. I've seen a dyno chart, and these only make about 150ft lb /150 horsepower at 2krpm. If these made more power at a usable RPM they would drive SO much nicer.
Another great video! I am still in the camp of ''put your foot down further'' but you guys are convincing me! It's a little expensive for what it is I think, but I will keep an eye out for sales.
I had a BMW 335d that had several modifications and the most dynamic by far were the Pedal Commander and the trans. flash. It went from "quick", to "hang on to your shit". Until you experience this, you have no idea how little control you have over the acceleration with the drive by wire. After 3 weeks, you won't even remember how much you gave for it.
... But is the easiest way to give the placebo effect of more power. No supercharger, no turbo, no exhaust work. Simply plug and experiment which setting you like. Car remains stock, part for part. Think of it as a multi level "sport" button....
Are those wolves?? LOL You guys make the best videos! I like the idea of these units but I feel personally that they are way over priced. If it were a $99 add I'd be all in. Thanks again!!
Lol! That warp speed hilarious 👍🏼 I have a manual 2012 tacoma TRD sport and I've been reading and watching yt vid reviews, I'm seriously considering buying this 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What an Excellent Video! Honestly! My Car is So Diffrent Im ina Merc's V12, yet this Video was So Good for me! Well Done Guys.
Excellent unboxing
Much appreciated
I just installed mine today on my 2018 TRD PRO 4Runner. I was shocked how much difference it made. WOW! Thanks for the info I am quite pleased. It was also so simple to install.
Glad it helped!
I just put one in my E55 Amg and I leave it set to sport 9. I can instantly feel all of my 500 horses now. I love it
I installed mine but get an engine light and abs malfunction warning and no gas pedal function, also whilst idle it sits about 2000rpm and only decreases when I hit the brakes, can anyone help please
Thanks guys! Also love your dogs!
Thanks for watching! Our dogs send you puppy smooches 🐶 🐶
Great video, love the dogs too.
Us too!
just installed mine and what i thought was sport 9 was actually race 9.. and i loved it! chose the sprint booster over peddle commander since I saw more people went into limp mode with the commander or threw a code..
I got two of these for our two 4runners. They actually work really well!
One of our biggest gripes about the 4Runner is the "lack of power" which never made sense due to the HP specs as you mentioned. I felt like these things were snake oil, but I'm pretty intrigued now. Thank you guys!
... Yes, it fools the ecu/tps by supplying different voltage seen think driver is requesting more fuel but with less pedal travel...
The thing is, if you look at the actual power specs, those numbers occur so far up in the RPM range that you never really hit them. The peak numbers look good on paper, but in the real world they're pretty meaningless.
What model sprint booster do I need? For a 2004 grand marquis
I have no idea. It's best you go to their website and ask for specifics.
Just installed and tested. Indeed, it is a game changer when required on steep mtn passes and short momentum runs through sand and mud. Passing is also a solid application. I have a question about after you have been using this for the last year or two have you noticed if there is any type of damage to the vehicle In the transmission or the engine?
I’m like you I grew up on cable on everything
I thought you’re suppose to come to a complete stop to switch into a different mode or even ramping up the numbers ?
Just something to consider- having all that power instantly on demand in the higher Race settings is likely to cause extra wear on the engine mount bushings, if the throttle is surged on a daily basis. Hi I bought the sprint booster after watching your video thank you!! How did you get the original plug off the pedal? I’m having trouble there and you skipped over how you did it. Thank you for your help!
To be honest, I can't remember how it unplugs. I'm sure there's a little locking tab that has to be pressed or lifted to release it.
Wanderlost Overland thank you
Since it connects at the pedal, does that mean this doesn't work with cruise control?
Works with cruise.
I had the pedal commander and it kept throwing engine code in my 2016. How has this been long term?
We've heard the Pedal Commander has issues. That's why we went with the Sprint Booster. We haven't had the slightest problem since we've installed it. We LOVE it!
I leave mine on green 9.. its perfect for everyday driving. Gets pretty close to having that throttle cable feel..
Any tips on removing the factory plug from the gas pedal?
@@iBeCruisinToyotaFJ um just pull make sure the clip is pushed in.

I went with the Pedal Commander because of Bluetooth and the app!! Great video!!
What kind of foil tape did you use on the heater lines? Looks like a thick foil tape?
It's an insulated tape we found in the heating section at Home Depot.
Have you experienced the throttle going in limp mode and the CEL on...?
Nope, never.
Great Video! I agree about the size between this and paddle commander. I do wonder which is made to be more reliable...
From the Toyota 4Runner forums I follow, Sprint Booster is made in Europe therefore is more reliable and Power Commander is made in China. I have a Sprint Booster on my 4Runner.

Yes, we tow a small trailer with great success.
When you turn the car off and then on again does it automatically come on or do you have to turn it on every time?
It's all automatic. Once you set it, you don't ever have to touch it.
What is your long term review? Still worth it? What mode have you found for trail running is best?
Buller, Buller Buller....?
I can't imagine driving without it now.
Is it adjustable on the fly?
Yes
Any chance you guys can get your hands on an iDrive unit and compare them? We really are curious why it “does the same thing” for less money...
What about the Super Charger? Do you guys think it's a better option?
Those are awesome, but just not in our budget!
@@WanderlostOverland Hi there, couple of questions for you. Can I just leave it in race 9? If so, will this harm the transmission?
Now that you are a year out, Mary what is your typical setting for your daily driving? You never did say in the video other than to say it was one of the race settings. Mark, now that you've had a chance to use it off road, what is your favorite off road setting?
We settled in on the Green #5 setting. For offroading we either leave it set where it is or turn it off.
I totally get it. The other day I had to romp on the pedal to take advantage of a minor opening in the traffic and my 4runner gave the usual less than stellar response. mykalbee ive had mine about a year. I can’t say for sure but mileage definitely didn’t get worse. I run sport 6.
@@jayluikart487 thanks, good to know.
You two have great videos. Informative & entertaining. That part with the Millennium Falcon had me cracking up!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good one,luv mine but dangerous when you lend truck. The hesitation is gone when you pedal press.
Christmas at your house with the dogs must be a hoot.🎄🎄
It is Mike!
I'm thinking of purchasing a sprint booster. Now that you have had it awhile are you still happy with it? Have you had any problems with it since you have installed it? Are you going to do a update video on it? I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Completely happy with it!
Great info. hope it adds to fuel economy now all the need is a fix for the brake feel and function.
We use the pedal commander on sport +3 and we saw about 1-2 mpg increase.3” 285/70r17. Doesn’t seem to double dow shift as much into 3rd
Put the supercharger on it! It’s amazing!
07:53 Soooo... 12 parsecs = 1 week?
Can you change the Mode when driving or do you have to come to a Complete stop to do so and the cost is up there to thanks for the video
Yes you can!
Instructions say Do NOT change modes will foot on accelerator. Just change 1-9 not actual modes. That’s when your dashboard lights will come on.
Have one on my FJ. I keep it at sport 3. Seems to be what the truck should have been from factory.
Merri: "I think I'm going to take it all the way up to race 9"
Mark: Oh God!
LOL Love you guys!!!
Thanks for watching Kiss Kiss!
Will it work in the FJ?
Yup, they make one for the FJ.
I read an opinion that the Sprint Booster improves off-road driving, too, because it provides better control (albeit NOT in race 9!) when doing obstacles. Seems to make sense, but I'd sure appreciate a video demo. Any chance you could do that for us?
Sure, as soon as we can get out and about. We're curious about that too.
I think its best to keep it set on the milder side, save the transmission clutches ;- )
Have read about this on the forums. Great video / info. I am a little nervous to put it on my brand new 4runner but maybe in a year or so. I have a red trd off road too.
Works great on my 2020 ORP. I keep it at city 4.
Cool video
Thanks!

We are, can't imagine not having it now.
