Thank you for this Joel, I'm aiming to do my work visa next January and haven't been able to find a good video like this, they've all been influencer type videos but yours is very informative
Great video man! Moved to Mel on a 417 in Dec 2022 - managed to get sponsored on a 482 and now just applied for PR under the 190. Wasn’t planned but Australia draws you in!
@@Joelfriend I just want COVID to be done so I can go! Get me on a plane. The day were allowed to travel I’m hoping On the first flight I can find. I don’t care where it goes 😂
I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years and I’ve been looking into moving there but can’t afford the other visas right now so I’m looking into this one. While I’m working I’m going to live with his family and work and save up ☺️
Hi, you can have a criminal record. I have a speeding conviction which didn't lead to any jail time and was there. You can't have a "substantial" criminal record however, which means 12 months imprisonment or longer.
Age will be increased to 35 and UK passport holders will no longer have to do the regional work for a second or third year when this new trade deal comes into law
You can apply for a tax file number outside of Australia, depending on your circumstances. Far easier to apply in the country though. If you'd like help please let me know as I do work with the Australian Taxation Office :)
You can still be over 31! but not older than 36 for a working holiday visa it says on their website 'If you apply for the visa while you are 30 (or 35), but turn 31 (or 36) before we have made a decision, we can still grant you the visa' :) Just saying

Great video, just one comment - You CAN apply several times. If you apply and don’t go, you can still apply after the visa expired later as long as you qualify🙂
Great video! Can I ask more about the health check? Like how you got it? Does it have to be from an Australian approved clinic in your country? Thanks :)
First back packer place that I went to in Sydney the room stunk of feet. Me and my ex turned around and walked out. We went to a nice hotel. Then the second backpacker place was in Gold Coast. That place had bed bugs. I walked down the shops. Went in and bought new shorts and tea shirt. walked down the beach and dropped them in the sand. Went straight in and took clothes off under water. Then walked back out and put on clean clothes. The only way to be sure the bed bugs were gone. Viva la AUSTRALIA. Oh and I nearly died in the Yard river in Melbourne, and was nearly dead by midgets little insects Gold Coast. Everyone wearing jackets an me just arrived fishing night. Did not want to wear a coat. Kept slapping my skin. Later had more than a hundred huge bombs over me. Ex's father a doctor took me down the pharmacy and prescribe me drugs. Horrendous night. Dont do things Australians dont.
Hi Joel! Thanks for your video and content. Its really useful information you provide. My question is if they accept your application before 31 or at 31yo? Thanks
Hello. I have a dilemma that I would like your advice on. I have booked a holiday for 2 weeks at the end of this year, but I'm now considering applying for the 491 visa now (This April 2023). I'm a British citizen, and I am 34 years old. The immigration website states that the processing time for the 491 visa is 17 months to 36 months. However I'm considering applying for the visa now but hoping I can apply for the 417 subclass visa in Jan 2024 when i turn 35 as the processing time is a lot quicker and I'll be able to look for jobs in all states and territories. Do you think I can apply for both visas, or is it best to decide what visa option I should go for after my holiday visit ends in Jan? I look forward to your reply. Thanks
If you want to find a bar job… is it not difficult to find one when you are only allowed six months in one company? Surely a lot of hospitality businesses don’t want to hire someone for such a short period of time.
This is very helpful as I have plans on applying the working holiday visa. Just wondering is there any specific website to find the farm work to be able to stay for second year ?
Thanks so much for all your great and informative vibes!! Hopefully I’ll be able to go to Australia once they open up again… So you can only apply for such a visa once and then never again? Or did I just misunderstand that… and do you know if you could theoretically get a visa to move there for two years or so and work at one job, or isn’t that possible?
You can move for 1 year but can only be in 1 job for 6 months then you have to switch jobs, but if you do 3 months farm work you can stay for another year! Australia is open now toon
How long does it take to process? I’m Korean and mine is taking too long to process it’s been almost four months and there is no response what should I expect?
hey man I'm Australian, my girlfriend is trying to get to Australia from France and is applying for the working holiday visa, do you know when the borders might open or loosen up, or if you can enter while they're closed?
Ahaha I have no idea, best off looking on Australian government website, I know Australia are very strict border especially at the moment with Covid, I would of thought it would be very hard to get in right now. But just my thought 😊
Keep watching ABC news and keep an eye on when you can get vaccinated. As soon as you can, get that jab. Keep checking your State Government health website. Our borders will not open until we reach herd immunity ( minimum of 80% of us vaccinated) at the moment Hunt is saying we will not open up until AT LEAST March of 2022. .But it could be December 2023 if we keep being put off vaccinating.
Hi Joel! Thank you for such a helpful video, I had so many doubts. I just have one more question. Once I do the farm work for 3 months I have to do the second year immediately after or I can come back to the yo and moths after go back to Australia? Thank yooou
Just got my 1 year working holiday visa I’m almost 35 years old British citizen planing to go aus sumner next year I will be 36 can I still apply for the second year if I’m 36 for the send years visa many thanks .
Au pairing is more Accommodation and food in return for work and you only get a small amount of pocket money each week rather than a base salary, but quite a few people do do it
Restaurants, bars and cafes are the most common working holiday visa jobs. I strongly advise you to do a Barista course (particularly valuable in coffee obsessed Melbourne) and do a course in Responsible Service of Alcohol, and if you can, Safe Food Handling. If you have cafe, bar or waiting experience already, you will walk straight into a job and will get as many hours offered to you as you can handle.
