@@mdctt9021 Its true, he is american but his most famous song was produced in germany, and it can be considered part of a musical moviment called "eurodance", in the 90´s many songs from europe became popular worldwide, when the american/english pop/rock was a the predominant musical style until them. A simple eletronic beat, a catchy melody and mix of hip hop, thats what eurodance was about, and scatman was one one of those hits, along side with other songs like blue from eiffel 65, barbie girl from aqua, what is love from haddaway and many others, europe was the center of world popular music.
This guy was and still is AWESOME. Suffered from a severe stutter his whole life, probably got horribly bullied because kids are...y’know, kind of terrible sometimes. And he did NOT let it stop him! Also it’s really cool that another part of the brain is used when you sing! That’s why people who stutter can sometimes sing without any problem. Not to flaunt my smarts or anything, I bet everyone already knows. Point is, Scatman was a cool cat, and I hope I meet him on the other side someday.
I've been struggling with stuttering almost all my life this dude is badass. I wish he had released a truly pure jazz/blues album he had a very classic voice for that sort of genre.
This is the first video I made available for everyone about Scatman John. I've listened his songs months after I created this channel, so Scatman is part of my channel, including Looney Tunes or other theatrical animated cartoon series. I'll try to continue to upload more content about him until next year, so stay tuned if you wanna still see more Scatman content.
I also am a stutterer, and this man really gave me hope that even someone who was different than alot of other people...could not only be successful, but make and leave an impact/legacy.
I had a pretty bad stutter as a kid. Most my my stutters were blocks where I'd want to say something and it was just impossible to get any sound out. Through speech therapy my whole childhood I got through it. I'm one of the lucky ones
I respect this man a lot, this generation should really take lessons from what he did. All teenagers always saying "I can't do it I don't trust myself blablabla" damn dude this man is a stutterer and still has become a great singer so as he says if Scatman can do it, so can you !!! The only limits you have sometimes or the ones you apply to yourself. ;)
If I meet him in school I probably will make fun of him but I was stupid back then I didn't know any better, and I am a shame right now thinking what have I done for bullied almost everybody including people with disabilities right now I know better and treat all people as equal and God made us all.
Same here. My experience with a severe stutter in school has made me have a huge soft spot for people who stutter. It's weird, people normally end up not paying attention when people start stuttering, but for me, when someone stutters it makes me want to give them my full undivided attention. It's just something you have to struggle with to understand, and it is rough. Thankfully I'm pretty good now.

I really wish he was still alive today. Never got to see him and it's a shame today's generation of music is so different from this.
Nope this guy will never be gone lil wayne riffed off scatman in one of his songs
God’s Blessings.
It's not that much of a shame. It's a good thing. Music is an every evolving entity. But it really never changes
@@lich.possum Nah. Pop music has just been turning into garbage, for the past few years. 😅

Eurobeat??? *Takumi Fujiwara intensifies*

He's not a pioneer in scat as it goes back over 100 years but he is an inspirational man
Even when he isn't scatting he has a great singing voice.
I can't watch this man talk or sing without a smile on my face. His mission on this earth has been accomplished!
Nice comment. A perfect one.

most kids and teenagers are stupid, especially most teenagers are very stupid but I guess that's why we have parents and school
"I'm a pretty good scat singer"
he was THE scat singer
Shame on those people who disliked this video, this amazing human being.
The people do dislike this video have poor taste in music and have no respect for a true legendary musician his music was awesome and still it
He didn’t die, God just wanted scat lessons from the Scatman himself
this is such a beautiful way to see it wow
Such an inspiration!!! Such a kind gentle soul.

Do you know about his album from 1986?
Hi, there's also "Listen to the Scatman" album from 2001, and in case anyone else wondered
Rest in peace to this icon

Just saw a music clip and brought me back to the good days! What a passionate guy and so sad he died so young so soon after international success.
I knew none of this about his stutter, I used to just dance to the beat! How amazing!!
He turned a disability into songs everybody loves
What a legend right ?

Scat has a different meaning in the 2020s..
It did then, too.
Eurodance died with him.
I have to take a scat now
His stutter is downright hot lol :D
He surely didn't die. He just stepped outside to smoke a cigarette
Alan Watts would’ve loved this guy. They both left much too soon.

Keep scatting
people piss me off when they make fun of people because of their speech impediment i had to take speech class in elementary school
Its human nature, you've probably hurt someone's feelings and didn't realise before
It could be, or it could be because the world is full of horrible, selfish people who like to feel big by belittling others
