M8 I'm genuinely not having a go at you but this is perhaps the 3rd video this year uv made saying the exact same thing. It obviously doesn't matter one way or the other because it wasn't long ago that everyone, yourself included told us to do that very thing so I ask myself why so many videos need to be made about it? I honestly used to look forward to vids by yourself & guys like free tech but since uz took the blue pill & dropped all the good things I hardly watch either of you anymore. I'm sad about that doc cos you're good man, you know you're stuff. Putting out vids like this must do your head in m8 but hey I get it. Not anger I have m8 it's sadness
What you are saying is true and not true at the same time. Let me explain, SOME apps will actually stumble because of the cache is OLD data and needs to refresh it anyways and you do not gain anything. How do I know this? Let's say you haven't used a particular app for months and execute it will actually stumble because that cache needs updating and needs to overwrite what was there, which causes a delay while this process happens. I've noticed this on my Fire cube 3rd gen quite often. I too do NOT normally just clear the cache on ALL recent apps BUT, will restart my Cube weekly (Sundays for me) which just seems to keep things snappy. If I know that I have not used an app for a LONG period of time I will delete cache before I open said app as with a fast internet connection this happens quickly and get less of a stumble as that cache writes as "new" and is a faster process. I use a cache "cleaner" on my Android phone that ONLY deletes OLDER dated cache files and not everything and is actually quicker when you load these apps that have NOT been used in a while. Granted, this will NOT save you much storage space because the cache file will rebuild regardless and you really gain NO extra space in the long-run. Great video because SO many people clear caches SO often, which like you stated is NOT necessary. Then on the other side of the coin, some people NEVER clear these nor ever reboot their devices on a regular interval which just causes delays, freezes, buffering, or apps NOT working. As I stated, I just reboot my device every Sunday and really do not experience any issues with my Fire Cube. This mentality also applies to Android phones and tablets as well which just keeps things running smoothly.

Hey Doc...what's up with incognito play app?? Is there a new version?? It's not working anymore and I cant find a new version anywhere. Can u help?? Thanks!
Think of it this way. When your computer starts to slow down you clear out all unnecessary files and junk. Clearing the cache on your fire stick accomplishes the same thing. I would suggest you do clear your cache at least every 30 days if you use your fire stick on a routine basid

So if app is buffering then the cache should be cleared ?

Clear the cache. Don't clear your data cache.

Only do it when it's crashed.dont have a lot of apps on fs anymore. Due to never ending updates. Just have some of the basic . Suits me fine
