Fabulous content again, and gorgeous images. I'd like to make some comments about the SL2S.
My background is hobby photographer, looking for a perfect fit camera for 10+ years. Went through Lumix/olympus/fuji and eventually Leica. I have had an M9, M240P, Q, Q2 , Q2M, SL , M10P, and recently SL2S, as well as trying film with Voigtlander R4a and M7. I am 57 yo, and have bought and sold cameras over the years. I have spectacles, and like wide angle.
Whilst I love the smallness and the history of the M system, ultimately I have been disillusioned by missing critical focus on fast lenses, and the EVF on the Ms are not that great. The SL2S has been an epiphany for me. I can see out to 12mm lenses, and 90mm if I want, through the fabulous EVF, and focus accordingly.
It urges me to shoot manual, with ISO, Shutter speed and Aperature easily accessable at thumb and finger location. The EVF is unbelievable, and being able to check focus with magification makes missing shots a thing of the past. Its challenging me to grow as a photographer, be less lazy.
I have an SL35mm lens, and it is just too big, as you alluded to, and I will move it along. I use M lenses, the Voigtlander 28mmf2 is gold on the SL2S, tiny, and the package whilst bigger than the M, feels fabulous in the hand. Low light is amazing, and I am OK with 24meg images.
Maybe this will help similar people looking for a solution. I am happy now, the only thing I would love is an SL2S Mono, but that will not happen. Keep up the fabulous content, hope to get to a photo meeting at some stage, trying for DEC. Peace.
Thanks for your insight James, seems you've had quite the collection over the years. I agree about the EVF, is incredible and underrated. What do you want me to review next?
Thanks for sharing your journey, helps me in my decision making process. 👍🏻
I’d love to hear your feedback on this new series everyone.
Love the vibe and the energy.
We have been to Japan twice, and love reliving it, looking forward to your content.
Off to Singapore next, which Leica Camera do you want me to review?
Maybe a CL :-)
The Q2M is a beast and the camera I most regret selling. Amazing pocket rocket at night.
Excellent video! Makes me miss Kyoto and those narrow, magical streets.
Would love to see a review of a monochrome sensor (M10 or 11 version) and how you would approach shooting with it.
@@capturing_reality I second that request, a CL would be nice. Or maybe even the D-Lux in a travel situation.
@@Jmlyniec1 Thanks John, that should be coming very soon :).
I love seeing you in action shooting + then discussing aftewards. Always learn so much. Japan is a dream!
That's a tasty shutter sound. 😊
I agree, it’s nice and quiet:).
Great vid! Looking forward to more of this type of content.
I appreciate that, nice to get such positive feedback, next stop is Singapore.
@@AskMOTT Love Singapore but Japan is something special. I'm in Asia, too, Philippines to be exact. Love HCMC and want to get to Hanoi one of these days. Safe travels.
@@wanderingwongs7464 You'll love Hanoi, it's heaven for street photography.
@@AskMOTT Definitely on my bucket list. Thanks, man.
Welcome to Japan!
Thank you so much ,
I love it there.
I did the same thing in Kyoto - Ginza on a weekend - Kimono Party time. I took pictures of people taking pictures of their friends with their iPhones -- that was fun.
So colorful :). I hope you enjoy the full episode when it premieres tomorrow.
Another good video. Your street advice is 100%: camera on, lens cap off, settings set. The moment is just that. It is not a novel, hardly a page. We do have to be ready. Enjoy some sushi for me. ;o) And thanks.
Thanks Zoltan, glad you like this one as I want to do more like this. Anything you want to see more of , less of , open to feedback.
Awesome shots dude!
It’s the camera :)
Awesome video. Colors are amazing. Edited?
The photos were edited but only slightly Benoit as I tone images as a photojournalist, like 5 seconds of adjustments:)
Loved the Vlog.
Over exposure. Flaring.
But. That added to the charm.
As for the hotel.
You need a model as you ain't one lol.
Was a story told?
Your a master.
I’m a great model , besides the looks part :). Thanks for watching , Singapore episode is coming next so I’d love to hear what you’d like seeing more of or less of and don’t say me ha ha.
@@AskMOTT Just about to view.
Still enjoying Leica Japan thinking your a bandit.
Matt Black uses the 24-90mm on his Lumix S1R I think. Also, busting to go to Japan.
You’ll love it Marty, go to Kyoto and pop in the Leica shop there.
Q3 prediciton was on point :D hahah
I really didn’t have a clue it was just a guess.
@@AskMOTT just as a trial for a peer review... please guess the PowerBall lottery numbers :D
Interesting video.
Do they only sell new Leica equipment or also used or 3 party (voigrlaender) in the Leica store?
They sell 3rd party accessories like bags but not 3rd party lenses as far as I know.
What focal length(s) did you end up using the most in Kyoto and in Osaka? Any other tips for shooting street in both cities?
I mixed it up, normally I use 35mm for just about everything but Japan being a little hard to get close to people I found myself using the 75mm-90mm range quite a bit.
Nice objective video with lovely photos. Did you shoot in manual mode or with autofocus, which I understand is the main weakness of the camera? Thanks
I shot mostly autofocus Steve. Main weakness I’d say it’s heavy but sturdy and beautifully built.
@@AskMOTT Thanks
Hey this is a odd question but what is that style of hat you are wearing?
Not odd at all, I get asked this is a lot :). It’s a docker hat ,also known as a Miki hat .
