As a bigger guy, and just buying new skates after 13 years of bauer supreme skates, these ones i found at my local proshop are verrrrry nice compared to my old bauers. Great review.
Thank you Alan! I'm 50/50 with the MN Expo right now. Been doing a lot of traveling of late and I'm not sure if I have it in me. In Toronto right now writing this message.
Thank you so much for what you do I’ve been subscribed since the very beginning and I can tell you this you have grown The hockey community so much and we thank you, you are so great at your job keep up the excellent work and man I wish I could afford those skates those are Beautiful
I have the ft1 with the step blacksteel blades for one year and a half now. I really love them. it's true that the tongue have a tendency to move outside with time. The new CCM holder is very nice and the liner looks nice and comfy too. It's cool that you can go play outside and just swap the blades to play a indoor game. I just wish the side material that connect the toe cap to the boot would be more resistant. Being able to lean in these skates with a higher blades, that part rubs the ice pretty often. On mine, the layers are disintegrating.
I have the FT1's with the step steel too. Looking at the FT2's...I'm just going to change out the holder and the insole. Everything else feels great with the FT1 skate.
Wow. Nice work ccm. Ccm has always been behind with regards to their SB holders vs Bauer's Tuuk holders, due to the lack of a quick release system for the blades, but now it seems they may have jumped ahead in that department. The AS1 wasn't a huge improvement over the Super Tacks to be worth the purchase, but the FT2s are a different story. Good stuff CCM.
Just got a pair of these. I only skated on them twice but I’m loving them already. Really good fit (i have narrow feet). Forward flex in my opinion is just as good as the ribcores.
“Break down far les quickly than FT1”. Got it, but what is the qualifying factor for this? What is so different in the materials and the construction that is leading to such a drastic change?
Never did I say the FT1 was garbage Kevin. This is the nature of evolution/development in technology. It would be pretty pointless if old vs new was the same right? The new iPhone will always be better than the previous version if the manufacturer is improving and continuing to develop. These videos are simply to show you the differences. It's up to you which one is better for your own personal needs.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial what I mean is that you only talk about the new features and then say it's way better than the previous one and then don't say anything about the old one for comparison. I wish you would say stuff about the old skate too so I can decide if I should buy discount old models or if it's worth spending more for the new model. If all you say is "this is way better than the old one" wouldn't people becomr afraid of the old one? Sorry if I sounded harsh, I didn't mean it to be like that.

Or maybe he’s just a big kid who has found the keys to the sweetie shop. 👍🏻 As an aside hey Chris when you going to review Bauer Custom skates? I bet you’ll love ‘em, I know three people who have them and like them.
Hockey Tutorial It would be pretty pointless if old vs new was the same? No. Manufacturers need to release product updates to generate sales. Some people always update, some update if they see a benefit. Some choose the latest product from current manufacturers. So no, they might not actually perform better, for the end user.
The new insoles are better by far, and they do t have to make stores carry stock for low med and high arch. Now there's inserts to go on one set of soles to work for all arch types
Any chance of a ft2 vs 1x skate review?, seriously considering moving from Bauer to ccm after this new holder but I don’t know what skate sits higher and if I can use my speed plate in them ?
2x pro is about to drop in the next couple months. That would be a better comparison, as they're both the newest model and 1x and FT1 are the 2017 model.
Assuming these are at a starting price of CAN $1K, will these skates solve my flat foot pain? I'm currently in Jetspeed 290's and I have no real need for all the performance features as I'm a beer leaguer, but I am desperate to solve my problems. An insole can't be the selling feature... I'm chasing a dream.
Try True skates, I had the same problem. Once I got my Trues the pain was gone. You can send in an imprint of your soul and they build the skate accomadating to your soul.
Tyler I was thinking if you’re along the boards and someone comes and steps on it would it become loose or if it gets caught on something. Could just use the new boot but old holder. Like putting a new engine in an old car
@@schaefersshitposts & Tyler, you would have to turn the dial 5-6 times before the blade comes loose, so that doesn't happen in gameplay. The holders & steel were tested for a couple of years in North American college hockey before being released on the product and now 30 NHLers wear them, so they are highly durable. Cheers! JS from CCM.
Would the mechanism that releases the blade hold up to decent shots? It just looks like cheap plastic. I've had problems with my 2Ns with the blade releasing randomly and it looks like it's because the plastic release has been beaten up a bit and may be sitting slightly in the engaged position.
The inner mechanism is a steel screw system locking in the steel blade, so it's very durable and was tested for years before being released on this skate model. Cheers! JS from CCM.
I like. Sucks though for anyone who paid full price for FT1’s only so a better model to come out soon for probably near the same price range as the FT1’s and the drop in price.
@@belangerjs Thank you sir. I'm curious because I like everything about the 1X's except for the lace bite I get with them. I was quietly hoping these might have a deeper instep compared to the 1X but not as deep as the AS1 or Supreme 1S.
@@turbo66 the subtle differences from one brand to the next make it worth it for you to give the JetSpeed line a try. Based on the description you just gave, i feel like you might just find what's right for you. Good luck!
Probably better off with super tacks but you never k owz these have a super narrow heel, and a narrower forefoot than tacks. Always go get fit at a proshop to make sure you're in the right boot for your foot

I can’t wait to get these!!!
When you try on the FT1 or 2 unbaked is it supposed to feel like its going to snap your ankles? Is that a heel lock thing? Thanks!
Why does chris always describe the older generations of every skate comparison video as absolute garbage compared to new gens?

Good info as always! 👍
Nice skates, but why the increase in weight from the FT1? Is it because of the wider ankle area?
main reason is the higher steel adds more weight to the overall skate
Take it easy with the "phenomenal" for printing around the base of the skate...
It increases your glide by 94%

Nate Nakao if you want to put in the effort to change holders, go for tuuks
They will be, in April/May
What radius should I have the pro shop sharpen my skates? I am a forward. I want to have speed and make sharp turns.

Lol 2 mm taller until you get your skates sharpened
No. Skate sharpening removes a very small amount of steel. 2mm would take a lot of sharpening to remove.
What are you skating on, styrofoam? Get the taller steel bud. You'll get so much more bite and maybe even get a more shallow hallow!
What? If both pairs of skates are sharpened, they would both lose approximately an equal amount of steel... and it wouldn't be anywhere close to 2mm
