- I take a look at (3) different Remington R51 9mm pistols. Is this the greatest thing since sliced bread or does it have a few teething pains?

When an almost 100 year old version of the gun is more reliable than the new version, you know you done fucked it up. :)
NewFormofSilence Yeah true XD
Glad to see you made it out of the range with all your fingers intact...scary stuff to be putting out on the market!
I'll be passing on this one...
MrGunman11
He talking about when the gun fired out of battery on camera. Very dangerous and could have been an injury in the making.
Thanks for the honest review Tim, I was nervous watching you shoot that!
You and me both. After seeing the out of battery discharge I was quite apprehensive firing the next few magazines. I finally had enough and called it a day so I could go home and hug my kids with all digits attached. :)
Military Arms Channel I dont know if im being too critical but im not sure about remington anymore. All the problems with this handgun just seem like really simple design flaws that a company like Remington should have no problems with such as the slide hanging up so often. Along with the recall out on 700s because apparently theres a problem with the triggers or firing ping that is causing accidental discharges? Just doesnt seem right.
Great review! Doesn't look like something I'll be picking up lol.
Military Arms Channel if your that concerned just don't do it. No gun review is worth losing a hand :-) although we do appreciate what you do!
That is one pistol I will stay away from.
That's what I like about this channel. Always a fair review. I'm a little tired of the other channels just praising everything they touch.
Some reviewers rely on manufacturer supplied T&E guns and others value their relationships with the manufacturers more than the value the truth. Either way, I buy most of the guns you see on this channel and should I accept a T&E gun, I will be honest (as this video demonstrates). If that means I don't get T&E guns in the future, so be it. I don't need to be the first guy in front of the camera with a new product. I would rather be late to the party so I can actually test the gun anyway, and that takes time.
Military Arms Channel good manufacturers will taken honest criticisms to heart....not just lend out their weapons for the purposes of public ass kissing.
I am curious as to what they said to you after your findings?
I'm already skeptical when someone tells me they have a T&E product for review from a manufacturer. I work at a factory. When we send out products to be reviewed they get a little extra quality control before being sent to whoever.
Is it just me or has Remington gone downhill since being bought by Freedom Group? ....Marlin too.
yep
Yeah it's Almost like they are just focusing on ammunition nowadays the engineers are all on vacation clearly.😅
When a hi-point has more appeal you've got a problem
I by no means like hi-points, but you just summed up the r51 in one sentence, well done my friend.
You said it bro. When you got 2 hundos and you need a pistol, choosing the highpoint would be better. At least they are mostly reliable.
Don't get me wrong I love Hi-Points but you can actually resell an R51 it has actual value.😅
One of the best gun reviews I have seen. R51 is definitely on the never, ever buy list.
No joke. I checked out my mother's p51 today and encountered all of these problems including an out of battery firing. Scary gun. She is now on the search for a better gun.
Accurate review 👌 great job and thank you.
Remington should concentrate on Rifles and just give up on pistols all together.
Remington is also destroying the Bushmaster name. Remington acquired the "Bushmaster" name and the quality of their AR's have gone WAYYYYYYYY downhill. Thank god the old Bushmaster is back in business...its called Windham Weaponry. The old owner of Bushmaster rehired his old employees after Remington shut down the factory and moved it no NY.
Windham Weaponry is making AR's the way the old Bushmasters were made... Rock solid and accurate! Ive been dying to by a new ARC but I refuse to by a Remington made one. I guess I will have to try and find a used ACR made in Windham ME.
I disagree, every entity should try to break new ground.
Yes, but they shouldn't use the buying public as beta testers, especially for something like a self-defense conceal carry handgun.
oh I agree, the Pistol is clearly not ready for the public. They should't have rushed it like they did. But the pistol has a lot of potential and I think, with a little bit more time and perfection...they can get rid of the bugs and come out with really kick ass pistol.
neutered10mm look at the AR15 history. It was rushed into service, before it was ready, in 1965 and it had some costly bugs that harmed its reputation. But a few years later, with the A1 variant, the bugs were worked out and a pretty damn good rifle resulted. Fast forward today, we are still using the same rifle (updated for all the latest optics and gadgets of course).
The Remington Model 51 was introduced long before either the Walther PP or PPK series of fixed barrel pistols. Pedersen's design was unique and like it or not, preceeded the Walther pistols. In fact, Remington had discontinued production of its Model 51 in 1927. Walther introduced their series beginning around 1929 with the familiar PP or Police Pistol, followed in the very early 1930's with the smaller PPK.
Honest, independent reviews like this are the reason gun magazines are dying off. It's obvious they're just paid reviewers and can't be trusted to give objective info, even if it means the safety and security of their readers.
Keep it up. :)
I have always thought that myself.
There are RUclips gun channels that do the same. Every gun that they review is the best gun ever.
Thanks for the review Sir..
Thank you for the review sir, but I don't like that firearm at all. People make fun of my HI-Point .40, but it never acted like this. I'm shocked that Remington sent you such a flawed product.
Daniel J. Tanner I actually gave my wife my old Hi-Point 45 a few months ago after I bought a Glock 22. The Hi-Point has over 10000 rounds through it, most of which were hot handloads, which it loved, and the thing still runs beautifully! Sure, we need to replace the magazines, as they are starting to crack, but so far, that is the only weak point!
Seth Wilcox Weak point? You mean Lo-Point of the Hi-Point? ;-)
Meant what I said. Aside from being big, heavy, and about as ugly as Janet Reno in a bikini, the only real weak link with High-Point pistols is the magazine!
I actually don't mind the looks of a Hi-Point..made in America, super reasonable price, unbelievably great warranty for the original buyer and pisses the Gun Snobs off something fierce. Everyone that's into guns should have a Hi-Point or two in their arsenal. But some people just get so ass-hurt over these guns. I would like to see Hi-Point come out with some new products though..perhaps a higher end pistol line..say for about double what they cost now. But I guess some folks would bash them as well. So much for Buying American made I guess...
This is the first gun review where I began to fear you would lose fingers before it was over. I am just glad you finished intact. Reliable is the most important safety consideration on a carry gun and this simply should not have been released until it was ready. It is only an apprentice and I would not have it on a range if I cannot trust it. A most effective review. No wonder they are taking it back and sitting on it and may put out a new model. A company's reputation can be easily ruined putting something out like this and if anyone had been hurt it would have hurt everyone in the gun industry.
Explains why they are out of business now.
Really appreciate the honest review! It would be one thing if it was just having some initial feeding issues but the most ridiculous aspect about the R51 is the QC/QA issues. You have to wonder what type of un-meticulous, slipshod team put this design together because apparently the finished product distressed none of them. A single, anally retentive person in the think tank for example could averted the massive, lateral trigger play and its consumer airsoft' characteristics. Perhaps making budget is good enough at Remington?
The New Remington R51, The Gun You Hope Doesn't Blow Up
Remington should consult Hi-Point for advice..I love my C9! Lol..
WOW! I found this video 100% because I had just read a review of this gun in TWO issues of Combat Handguns and both absolutely extolled the gun and it's features. So I do a RUclips search cuz I'm immediately wanting to go out and buy one. And yup...I found all the videos that say this POS fires out of battery! This is why I subscribe to your channel, Sir and others. I can count on one hand the number of articles I had read where magazine reviews have said ANYTHING bad about the weapons they review. And then you go to honest, well informed folks who will tell us the truth. I have almost completely stopped buying gun magazines because of that. I spoke to a local gun shop about the R51 and he said he will refuse to carry the gun till Remington irons out the bugs. Well done, Sir. I LOVE your channel!
Thank you. I will always give an honest opinion. Most of the big gun rags are bought and paid for by the manufacturers. As for us "little guys", we're independent and not beholden to any of the big manufacturers. Well, most of us aren't anyway. A few are a bit too close... but I digress. The fact is, if something doesn't work or is dangerous (as I believe the R51 is), I will not candy coat my opinion. Thanks for watching.
i quit buying gun mags for just that reason. i bet there was a full page ad for that pos gun within a few pages of the review!
Wow, I can't believe Remington put something out like this....I guess they really rushed to get in the single stack 9 carry game.
Thanks for the heads up Tim!
What a clunker. Bad trigger, light strikes, won't feed ball ammo, fires out of battery. But hey, at least it's a pain in the ass to take apart and reassemble....
Damn that's sad to see a Remington product fail so much. I love my 870s , 700 in 308 and my 597 they have never let me down. I was thinking of getting a R1 Enhanced but seeing this makes me rethink.
Thanks for review and glad you still have all your fingers!
This might be the last gun Remington sends you. good job MAC.
Rather he tells the truth than feed us Remington garbage.
yep thanks again MAC keep up the good work.
What would they send him anyways? They don't have shit. They have a 700, 870, and an R1. What else does Remington have that is new or noteworthy?
Again maybe he should have told everyone go buy this piece of shit.
He would be relieved
30 years from now I look forward to seeing Mecha-Ian featuring this on Forgotten Weapons Neo
Honest review and honestly it wasn't a gun I had any interest in. I hope they stopped production.
Terrible idea... worse production idea in a while. Obama and holder must want this as the standard model for the bracelet
it wont last long i handled one at the gun shop and it was garbage could really get it to rack piece of shit gun
Steven Nihipali You joke about Obama but the company that bought Remington has ties to George Soros a huge anti gunner. April 5 (Bloomberg) -- Remington Arms Co., the gunmaker that has equipped U.S. soldiers for 150 years, agreed to be acquired by private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management LP for $118 million.
It's a shame that the R51 is a disappointment as opposed to a success. When they introduced this at Shot Show, it looked like a pretty cool 9mm pocket option. It blows my mind that Remington even allowed any of those guns that you have to leave the factory. It just seems like a waste of time and effort. Thanks for the review, Tim. Quality stuff as always!
Every time I see a goofy design like this one, it just reinforces the genius of John Browning.
MAC speaks with the perfect cadence. Allows me to absorb the info and actually calms my nerves. Thanks brother keep up great work!
"I'm so nervous about this thing blowing up in my face."
I'm just shaking my head.
A friend of mine is seriously considering this gun... I'm glad I checked this review out and forwarding it to him. Good to know
What a shame. It's too bad the R51 doesn't seem to perform as it should, because it is a pretty neat looking little gun. From what I saw in the video, you were right to be a little nervous when shooting it. Hopefully Remington will smooth out the issues with this gun soon, but for now I think I'll stay far away from it.
That is a nice looking gun, to bad about all the problems. Thanks for the review.
dat remington quality
Yeah, this is RogueAmp in gunny mode.
Great in depth review with no punches pulled but also with respect for the manufacturer.
great review, i liked the range time footage with your commentary during magazine reloads explaining the experience, please keep that as a feature in future videos. its much better then shooting it at the range then coming home and trying to describe it hours later.
Thanks for the feedback. I will be doing more indoor range videos as my studio is now in the same building.
Military Arms Channel Can I make a request? I would like for you to do a video of many of the common malfunctions of a handgun and the correct way to go about clearing it and any safety tips. I am a new shooter and would like to get some advice from someone as experienced as you.
with the right tools and the right skills you could have that old one so much smoother then it is now, cleaning up the tool marks on the inside, i always do this when i get a new handgun, polish all the insides and feed ramp, its an awesome piece i love old guns
Damn it remington... Used to be a great company, then they got bought out by businesses focused on their bottom line at the cost of quality control, and accountants started running the business rather than shooters, and now the entire company is a pile of shit.
They got bought by Freedom Group... At least in my opinion that's when everything started going to shit. Marlin also when completely to hell.
Freedom Group has the poo version of the Midas Touch
VFRSTREETFIGHTER
Sad but true
I have one and I have put an unknown but a larger number of rounds through it. I can tell Remington made some changes since this video was made. Mine has been flawless so far.
Hey Tim great review as always! Have you ever done a dirt test on your Tavor like you did with your AK and AR? I know it's kinda off topic with this video. but I'm really curious to see how the Tavor will handle it. Thanks for the great video.
I will do more testing of the Tavor this summer. Winter kept me from having access to dirt, mud and water... but it's warming up now.
awesome! can't wait!
Wow. Just....wow. Gold star on that one Remington
The High Point is looking like a sweeter and sweeter deal !
The one I looked over at my local gun shop had the exact same problems as the first one you showed. The slide was an absolute chore to operate and more times than not it would actually lock back with no magazine even being in it.
For about the same price you can get a CZ P07 Duty which is a great gun.
Check them out!
The pucker factor went off the charts after that out of battery fire. Fortunately, I'm sure the beard would have absorbed any shrapnel had things went differently for you. Great vid!
I need to grow the beard a bit longer to cover my hands...
I canceled my orders for these at my shop. Seems like far too much headache for customers and myself. More importantly, it's dangerous. That adds up to a nightmare for all involved.
Ok it's 2021 , I have two one is 5 years old and and the other is 2 years old . The first one had issues with clips . Last year I bought 3 new clips for it . Works flawless! Second pistol out of the box , dead on accurate! 1000 rounds later on stoppage of fire NONE !
Oh the hand hurt thing , never mind !
so is the r51 a decent pistol to keep i still have mine.
looks like a makarov is a better deal...
That. is. amazing... from a big name like Remington too... and with a T&E unit that Remington themselves sent to MAC after posting a video of another one failing miserably. Truly unbelievable. And to think that I would have bought one of these already if I could have found one at a local shop. Thank you very much for posting this honest review.
Great review MAC but I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with my M&P Shield.
S&W really did a good job with those. I love mine.
I love mine so much that I picked up one in .40.
Tonight, I pick up my third Shield, another 9mm. Back-up and share the wear and tear of shooting.
Well that's too bad! It was an interesting looking gun that fit in the "something different" category. Great review MAC, very fair and impartial. You were professional enough not to flat out call the gun crap! Well done!
Remington can't even make a 870 worth a shit anymore and they think they can handle a sub compact pistol?
Remington needs to go the route of Winchester.
I do find it strange they made the best pump action shotgun ever made but when it comes to a simple polymer handgun they drop the ball.
Well MAC,
Fortunately there is no longer any reason to buy the R51 for it's easy to rack slide now that the S&W M&P EZ 380 & 9mm pistols have arrived and are both safe and reliable. Remington R51 REST IN PEACE!
Regards,
Rob
Phx., Az 🇺🇸
Wow, I won't be buying any Remington guns.
Their shotguns and rifles are great, but their pistols are crap
+SirCrazy Horse Pretty much always been the case.
Thanks for the heads. My father in law had his heart set on this gun for his wife. You change his mind and picked up a fan at the same time.
How the hell does a company ship crap like that out?
+molon labe Bought out by the Freedom Group, cuts everywhere, quality went to shit. The Remington of old is dead.
I love the one continuous shot you had while demonstrating how the handgun fires. It really gives a sense of how reliable it is (or isn't) when we can see exactly how many malfunctions there are and how many rounds fire fine without jumpcuts. You're also pretty good at talking to a camera now, too. :)
Remington has some serious quality control issues they need to sort out. Maybe its that New York water?
I was really excited about this pistol coming out...
As was I. Glad reviews like this happen to make us aware of the issues many of the others don't seem to find/share.
Very nice and honest review; a rare thing in the gun world unfortunately.
It's a shame the R51 is a stinker, I was kind of excited to see something that isn't a Glock clone.
Thanks Mac for a very well done professional review on an inferior gun. Your word is one I trust.
This channel has so much better reviews that Nutn.
i disagree
I believe they are both good! Lets end it there!
Z33 Garage Nutn just talks too much in my opinion. Nice guy, though.
Indeed. As do the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Airforce, and probably the Coast Guard. And on some handguns the slide lock was designed to be a slide release. However no slide lock/ release lever that Im aware of holds the slide open at 100% operating spring compression. Ive seen 1911's, Glocks, M&Ps, XD/XDM/XD's and Berrettas all have issues on first rounds chambered due to the slide being sent home on less than 100% compression. Worn parts, dirty guns, lack of lube, and shoddy ammo all aside if you allow the firearm to chamber the first round as closely as possible to how it reloads automatically during the firing sequence you will have less issues.
MAC you probably just got some engineers from Remington fired after they watched this haha. Sucks, looks like they need some serious tweaking before they are released to the public.
They certainly were tweaking at the factory when they sent out these piles of shit, thinking they're good.
MAN!! I'm glad I saw this video! I just saw this gun online a few days ago and on a whim I decided to check out this video to see how people felt about it. It definitely looks like it's got some potential as a self-defense pistol, but as you've shown, it looks like they're still having "prototype" issues with it. Thanx for this video! I think I'll hold off for the time being until Remington gets the "bugs" worked out.
I watched TacticalExistence series on this gun also. I'm not interested in the gun in the least bit but am concerned about why this gun ever got to market. Remington at one time made some of the best guns out there and in the early part of the last century was able to put out quality pieces for our troops plus make all the sportsman back home drool over their guns. I really hope this is not the future of once a great American gun manufacturer. I look forward to you sharing any more on how Remington solves this issue and what they have to say about your review.
Nice to see another Michigander on here, that's where I'm originally from. They have had my R51 for about two weeks now. I haven't heard a word from them yet. I'd say they are not happy with either of our reviews on the R51. They have no one to blame but themselves. I'll post up a video as soon as I hear something form Remington or get my gun back.
Awesome. You and MAC both did excellent reviews. I'll be watching more of your vids now because of it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother!
Solved by going the route of the dinosaur. ☠
Nicely done MAC. SINCE I HAVE BEEN WATCHING your honesty is good to see just how you Handel it. This Remington is not yet ready to be released, are you listening REMINGTON ?
Man, that gun looks dangerous. I think I'll steer clear of that one. Thanks.
You were way more diplomatic than I would have been! Looks like Remington needs to rethink that little "jewel".
wow incredible barbage
I had a bad feeling about this gun since seeing all the different videos about it at SHOT Show. If I remember correctly it wasn't shown to the public at range day or wasn't allowed to be fired by anyone other than Remington reps. Factor that with the first initial reviews here on youtube were done with people from Remington present in the videos told me something was up with this thing. Kudos to you MAC for putting this review out there! I'll stick with my G19 and may test the Shield waters at some point!
I wonder how this pistol, with it's obvious flaws, even get out to market? From Remington no less.
Because it's Remington.
freedom group and cerberus capital management
This gun makes a nice expensive paper weight and that's about it.
Thank you for this review. Id rather carry my .22LR pistol!!!!
Good to see some honest reviews not just gun mag marketing hype. Keep up the good work!
I might as well just buy a Hi-point! LOL.
MAC, I have been watching your show for 2-3 years now, and I really appreciate your reviews. I was entertaining the idea of buying a CC-purposed pistol, and (between your two reviews and those of others) I am going to avoid this pistol. I am used to the reliability of a USP 9 (full-size), so dealing with this would have been very upsetting - especially after being $400+ lighter. Remington had a chance to show you their best-working pistol (the T&E), and the performance was still shoddy. Thanks for the reviews, and I look forward to seeing more.
I cannot believe that after contacting you and asking you to review another R51 of their choosing, they still sent you a flawed gun.
It seems to me that the problem is with the design. Trying to reduce the pull weight on the slide will cause all sorts of problems specially since they seem to have used a spring too weak for the job that can't even get the slide back into battery so repeatedly. I know Remington will fix these things but their quality control on this gun is so far off its not acceptable for such a huge company. It seem to me they are using reviews as that test bed to fine tune the gun which is absurd cause a catastrophic failure will cost them more if it happens to MAC than if it happens to one of their own employees.
Great review! You would be a great T&E checkout person for Remington. I have never seen so many failures for a hand gun in any review before.
and i just bought a REM700....and now the trigger is being recalled. Not looking good for remington
Dang. This is somewhat painful to watch. Thank you MAC for your impression and take on it. Your opinion is always valued.
It just goes to show you, American made isn't everything when it comes to quality.
I can't say it's Remington's fault, the Freedom Group absolutely fucked it up.
Great review! You went further with the review than I would have done. AND.... you did it 2x. Thanks again Tim
Bottom Line...
is this your new Carry gun?
BTW this is a very nice review! Keep up the unbiased reviews. Its one of the reasons I watch MAC
Is it just me, or has a lot of Remington products in the past several years suffered a great deal from lack of quality. I love my Remington 700, however some people are reporting problems with the newer ones. That is kind of scary, since the Remington 700 is supposed to be a very solid gun. Remington needs to put quality back in their firearms and quit messing around before somebody gets hurt.
I just don't see it happening with the Freedom Group at the helm
GunsGearN Freedom Yeah the R1911's aren't great quality and their .22 ammo "thunderbolt" is junk.
I agree with a lot of the other posts. I've never before appreciated my Glocks so much.
I would NOT trust this gun to save my life. Glock all the way!
Thanks for the "honest review".
Too bad. This looked like an interesting new gun from Remington, but sounds like it turned out to be a flop. It seems overly complicated and poorly executed. The disassembly alone would scare me away from buying this gun. I don't know of any other currently produced handgun that is more complicated to disassemble. Combine that with all of the issues the gun has in firing and that makes it a completely terrible choice. Thanks for the review/warning Tim.
I really liked this gun based on it's styling. It's a good price point but to unreliable so I won't waste my money. Great review MAC. Best in the biz!
Based on this review... I'd rather buy a High-Point than this POS.
This gun should be recalled
It hasn't even been released for consumer sales yet...
Alberta Guns and Knives ???...They are readily available almost everywhere. Maybe not Canada?
dgott7726
Amazing how quickly all gun stores pulled this from their shelves. Can't find it anywhere, not that you would want to.
Well it looks like the only thing left that I will buy that Remington makes is their ammo.
I'd rather carry a Kel-Tec than this thing.
Me too. Bad thing is I would have a hard time carrying a keltec lol.
Me too.
I'll keep my Sig, and S&W (even if it's not a carry-able revolver) Maybe I should have said Hi-Point. They may be cheap as hell, but at least they are said to be reliable in what reviews I've seen so far.
Hi-Point has a market. if someone really considers themselves a gun enthusiast or gun fanatic i don't see how they could find anything in a hi-point. Yes a reliable gun is good but everything from size and ergonomics to fit and finish and sight realignment upon rapid fire are just unacceptable...
If i can have a used taurus or kel-tec for $50 more id go that route. This is coming from a guy who has had horrible luck and hates taurus. Glock, H&K, Lionheart, select Ruger's and the M&P line are the only polymer pistols i'd trust my life to(Being I own at least one of every line and I don't say SiG bc I don't have an SP2022 yet and i'm talking about only polymer wonders)
I, myself haven't gone for a poly gun yet. I'll end up with a P250 and probably a Glock or two shortly. If I buy a Kel-tec, it would be to see what the deal really is. Certainly not to carry.
if you look at a Kel-Tec go ahead and pay a little more for the Ruger comparison. Ruger really is a top notch worth every dollar company.
Once you get 500 rounds through a Glock you'll love it.
The SiG P250 is a DAO so the trigger is horrid. If you like DA/SA look at the SP2022 it is a sweet shooting DA/SA poly and the soon to be released P320 is SiG's first striker fired poly gun. It's made to be Glock competition and it looks sweet. I'll give them a few months to work out the bugs and i'll definitely buy one! JB Offroad
I just bought a Rem 700 in .308 and was looking at this gun for concealed carry. I thought by now they would have worked out the issues, but I guess not. I'm glad I decided to go ahead and get my Sig P290RS for carry and leave the R51 alone. My P290RS has not had a single problem at all and has fed and shot everything that I have tried to run through it and at ~15 yards is a one hole shooter, which is no easy task from a less than 3" barrel. That being said I have not had a single functional issue with my Rem 700 SPS .308. The only slight problem I had was a very strong magazine spring that was causing scratches on my cases, but I changed out the magazine spring and the problem was fixed ($8 fix). However, my .308 is about to undergo a lot of custom work anyway and I bought the cheap SPS with the intention of basically only keeping it for the action. But after reading plenty of reviews and watching videos here I was expecting more problems out of the SPS model, but maybe I just got lucky. I did buy mine after the recall and it came with the fixed trigger so it did not have to be sent back btw.
Seriously, this R51 Is a joke and who in the right mind would release a gun designed for CCW in such a condition that's not ready for prime time.... This is making me appreciate my Glock just that much more.
If you pay REAL close attention to the slide before that failure to eject and feed the slide isn't fully in battery. Then take a look at the next shot after you can see a difference in the muzzle
Pretty much everything Remington rolls out these days is garbage along with its company Marlin. Its sucks they cant get their act together, and seems they have no plans to change. I shouldered a new Marlin 336 a few weeks ago at a local shop, and the sights were mounted not center and the neither the rear or front sight lined up center line with receiver Lever was zip tied but I would expect it to be real gritty like others Ive handled. That's probably why they zip tie it, so you don realize you have garbage until you get home
Remington's quality control at its finest.
Wow, still up to the same old tricks. Remington has been making JUNK firearms for a long time. I have an old Speedmaster 22 that will fire out of battery. It is old enough not to have a SN. You would think they would get it together. I guess as long as people keep buying junk, they will keep selling it.
I had such high hopes for this pistol. Thank you for saving me some money. Great straight forward review.
.....And I was ready to buy one.
Guess I'm buying a 1911
***** I use to have a SR40c and I agree it is a very good pistol. I would recommend it.
***** thats personal preference, I'm not a fan of the sr9,40 and i think theres a 45 out now. but i respect the brand that made them.
but. somethign about a 1911 clicks with me better
***** i have no problem carrying a full sized 1911 with a small coat on. in summer. and i'm probably half your size.
how you carry is another thing. for me usually its a shoulder holster
Also in regaurds to me being an asian gun owner, not the size that counts, it's how you use it.
unlike most guys my size, i can get to england in a rowboat.
Go for the M&P Shield in 9mm, fool proof
Like your reviews. Honest and straight to the point. Who the heck is in charge of quality control at remington the past decade or so? Every newer remington firearm I've recently owned or handled just doesn't seem as "quality" as they used to be. For comparison, a lifelong friend and I recently decided to invest in long range varmint guns. He bought a model 700 chambered in 22-250, I bought a Ruger M77 chambered in .204 ruger. His rifle cost $700, mine $680. The quality is night and day between the two. There are tooling marks all over the inside or the remington action, the lettering on the barrel, whether it's machined or stamped isn't even level, or all at the same depth. The barrel isn't crowned, and it's advertised as a long range varmint/target rifle. The bolt is gritty in cycling, and the trigger is adequate, and the stock? Junk, at best. I love my 870, 11-87, and 760 gamemaster, never had any problems with any of them. At a local gun shop sponsored automatic weapons shoot, they had a R-51 on display, but not available to shoot. The words from the gun shop owner himself"honestly I don't think the gun is safe to fire." What the heck remington?
