Cos the older you remembers the struggles of growing up, I'm same only I was in my 20s now I'm not in my twenties lol, I got one hand in my pocket, and the others digging my grave...
My mom played this song all the time when I was little: while we were cleaning the house, in our van, or just for the heck of it. I'd sing along and dance to it with her and just have the time of my life. I'm graduating this year, and listening to all of this music just really makes me think about how much I'm going to miss my mom...I think I'm going to go hug her now... ;_;
I Miss the authenticity, the identity of musicians and singers of the 90s. They did music because it was really what they loved to do and they had something to say, something to share with the world.I was only a kid who knew nothing about the world but I used to listen to music everyday. I'm thankful for artists like Alanis
This was one of my cousins favorite songs. They played this at her service after she died in a head-on collision from a blown tire a few months back. She was always a free, crazy spirit who always traveled and hung out with the weirdest of people, but loved her family. ❤️
I friend of mine passed recently. She was the stereotypical kind of beautiful most American men like. The type that are often times arrogant. She wasn't though. She treated everyone equally. The weird, poor, whatever, etc. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Great job Rose! No misspelled words, nice (and, readable) lyric layout and no distracting, ever-changing visual background nonsense. On top of that, your taste in music is excellent. Peace, sister.
I'm waiting for a heavy rock band to cover Alannis. Years later the lyrics still speak volumes. Similar to Guns 'n" roses first album, (appetite for destruction) you almost feel like this album is pure honesty and music at its best. After the first album its more like "I've got one hand in my pocket and now theres a million dollars in there" -life ain't as inspirationally depressing or tough as it once was anymore. Timeless.
I just randomly found this album on vinyl at walmart randomly, there was only one, immediately bought it. Been playing endlessly since. Brings me back. Great great great album.
27 yrs later n my hand is still in my pocket giving a high 5 . Life is such a traumatic experience for the lot of us who grew up in dysfunction n toxic positivity but my parents were raised by parents who as children lived in constant fear of air raids n gas mask then their children grew up my parents during the Great Depression 😞 I do not blame them. I blame the system
Let the dear Lisa continue to bond with the dear Alanis ... good-and-meaningful music only patiently waits for people to see it for what it is ... even if it takes years and decades.
And what it all comes down to Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving the peace sign. #lifeGoesOn
I want to say for real that Earth is special to me, and there is many reasons why's its important. The history and the sacrifice can not be outdone. I think Earth is very much worth it. That's honestly how I feel. I just don't get these people who sit idle and ignore threats, think that everything that fulfils them will just fall into their laps. The universe is harsh, with debris, asteroid belts and black holes. You can't think that peace and hope was what got us here. They care about pride, so they lie to themselves AND they BLAME everybody. Even the dead they blame. That's why I don't socialise. They have so many undesirable qualities.

When I was about 5 or 6 years old (way back in the 90's), my older sister would take over the radio stations in the car whenever we, (as a family) went anywhere. The only 2 songs that I can remember till this day that played a lot on the radio back then, was Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do" and Alanis Morissette's "One Hand in My Pocket." Is it weird that I still consider these 2 songs to be "current" pop culture, shows how "out of touch" I am with current times. 90's rule!
"I care but I'm restless. I'm here but I'm really gone." Says so much of how I feel about the world we live in as of late..
It's amazing how music has been trying to tell us the truth for so long
"And what it all boils down to Is that no ones really got it figured out just yet"

"I'm poor, but I'm kind". - Such an underrated virtue.
Bet.
money power = capytalist power ?
wealth, you mean.
Most poor people are kind. Most rich people need to be taken down a peg
I can’t wait to be rich to show the world I’ll stay with that virtue.
