The dumbest criminal I ever saw was a guy who managed to get a really large cement block and tried to chuck it at a stores front window. The window was plastic and it bounced back, hitting the guy in the head and knocking him out.

As a seasoned bus rider, I laughed so hard at that one! The driver was like, "eff this noise" and drives off😂😂 riding the bus is a new adventure every time you board! 😁

I remember working at Walmart and this lady was paying for her stuff and her daughter said don't forget to pay for the watch you took out of the box and put on your hand.
She tried to play it off and I called security as she was walking out the door.
Let's just say she had a lot more than the watch. All of us were in hysterics.

I think the lady with the sprinkler should have used dye in the water so the guy could be identified easily.
That would be opening yourself up to a potential lawsuit. Not very smart at all.
It's been made pretty clear that 'booby traps' aren't considered lawful in the US.
Squirting dye on somebody, not only ruining their clothes but also causing potential damage to their eyes, simply because they _walked onto your driveway_ would very quickly make *you* the one defending yourself in court.
@@arstulex not necessarily. you would just have to rig it so there is no way that it would be accidentally activated by an innocent passerby. Only by someone who was definitely not just walking on your driveway.
Also, i am sure there are dyes that are non toxic, so I would not worry about that.
My concern would be more that the dye could get all over their truck, lawn or possibly the homeowners. That would be a big mess.
@@Wishphoenix1 1). Let me know when you've invented a device that can somehow detect criminal intent from nothing more than a camera feed like that. Since that's what you would require to achieve what you're suggesting. Walking up somebody's driveway is not necessarily criminal intent, they may just be walking up to knock on your door for example. It's known as an "implied right of access". It's not trespassing unless they have been specifically asked to leave.
2). Just because something is "non-toxic" that does not mean in won't ruin property (such as clothing) or not cause problems when squirted into ones eyes. I can probably think of many "non-toxic" substances I wouldn't want randomly squirted into my eyes. Especially not if the only reason for it was because I _walked up somebody's driveway,_ which again there's an implied right of access.
Sorry for the long reply but, damn, please don't do something like this. It's not smart or clever, it's just dumb and will only serve to put you at risk of liability. For the sake of _possibly_ marking a would-be thief with some ink, it's just not worth it.
if it happened in the middle of the night--- yeah there is a 99.99% chance the person has ill intent. They are entering someones property at their oen risk, and a little ink/psint is way more harmless then a bullet. Judge shpuld side w homeowner on this one.

The guy who got hung up on the fence should have listened to his mother when she told him to always wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident. That is very good advice and I follow it to this very day.

The worst part about the booby trap one is that police will tell you its illegal to set traps but dont do shit when you get robbed.

Actually, it's not illegal to set traps that don't do any dangerous harm. You could set upside nails on a stair step and pass it off as an accident, or super sticky glue, or even a cage or net that traps them. But a paint can on a rope? Nope. Not a good idea
Not illegal. Did that guy who set up a fake box with a glitter bomb in it went to jail? Nope he did not. As long it doesn't harm them its not illegal. And if you still think its illegal then how come banks are allowed to booby trap money with ink packs in it to explode should someone steals it? And its permanent ink too.

When I was at a local store,this shoplifter trying to shoplift some high quality meat,and her kid immediately goes "Mommy I don't want meat,I want fish!!" and everyone looked at her stuffing meats onto her shirt. The staff spent few good minutes to laugh at her before calling the cops,and the child got a nice amount of tuna as a gift. When the news got viral in our city,the child confessed that he had no idea why he got so many tuna just to yell at his mom. He doesn't even want tuna,he wants salmon.

I may have uncovered the absolutely stupidest criminal of all time. Years ago, my Target card was hacked. The criminals bought a $600 camera with it. Annnnddddd, they mailed it to my house. Brilliant work, guys!

I remember a criminal who, after learning about lemon juice being used to make invisible ink, slathered his face with it and attempted to rob a bank. He was surprised when police arrested him later that night, and even stated, "But I wore the juice" lol. He thought it would make his face invisible to the security cameras.

I heard about that one, too. Doesn't make skin invisible, but it helps with self tanner goof ups.

Our Golf Club was broken into several times using the crawl method to get around the cameras until the cleaner came up with a smart idea. We had the cameras installed inside the vents at ground level. No one notices the vents around the rooms on the walls but every one of them had a camera inside, which take beautiful photos of the crims in glorious color since installing them

I worked in retail for years so I've seen all sorts of theives, the absolute worst (morallly) are the ones who use their kids to help them steal. They'll stick the stolen stuff under their baby in a stroller or put stuff in their little kid's backpack. I even remember one woman who teied to blame everything on her 5 year old "oh I'm so sorry, he just grabs things and put them in his bag when I'm not looking all the time". Then we show her the camera footage of HER sticking the stuff in her kid's bag. Of course, then she just claimed that it wasn't her in the video and that we couldn't prove it was. Yeah, that did not work at all.
The ones I'd feel bad for were the elderly people who resorted to shoplifting because the little $ they have goes to meds and shit.
Yes, having to choose between food & shelter and medicine and medical procedures during rampant bidenflation is not a happy way to end our lives on this planet.

Some might not be able to visualize this, but I worked at Sears and we had an heavy woman stash a portable television between her legs and once outside she lost it because she had to step off the curb and it fell out. In those days, there were no flat screens and televisions, even portable ones, were bulky.
Damn, those thigh could probably crush some heads with that amount of power. lol
Definitely hard for some to visualize working in Sears. Especially the millions who don't know what Sears was

Back when I was in middle school, I had to walk home with my siblings and on the way there was this Chevron gas station. Occasionally we would stop in for a snack or to use the restroom. One day during our stop, we realized we didn't have enough money to really buy anything but the kind worker there let us buy a few donuts for what we did have. (At most a fourth of the actual price) We were super grateful and sat down to eat, but as we were about to leave, she stopped us and asked to check our older brother's pockets. It turns out he had grabbed one of those baby bottle pops and was trying to steal it but it gets worse... After he was caught he tried to claim our youngest sister had put it in his pocket even though the clerk had watched him take it. It was incredibly embarrassing and I felt so bad because she had been so kind to us.
Reminds me of a story my dad told me about two guys who tried to rob the soda machine outside his electronics store! He had caught the pair on his CCTV & he grabbed one of his guns (my dad was a hunter) & approached the two would be robbers holding them at gun point until the cops came to take them into custody! My dad was a hard working fellow who wasn't about to let someone steal from him & thankfully the criminals were smart enough to accept they got caught & that it was better to wait for the police than risk their lives tangling with a rightful ticked off store owner!
We had a funny one at walmart once. We had our secret shopper following him around and he caught wind and rushed out the door with the cart, down the hill and across the highway at the car shop, a cop arrived shortly after he got there and arrested him. $1600 worth of stuff.
At a Walmart I worked at, there was a guy who would expose himself to the fitting room lady. The last time he did that, he ran out of the store followed by every manager in the store. He managed to make it off Walmart property, but some customers in the lot tackled him and dragged him back to the winded managers.
Quite a day at work.

One of my closest friends growing up got drunk and took a bunch of valium and ended up breaking in to a house and passing out in the bathtub with no pants on lol.

Many decades ago, my dad taught me how to bypass the motion sensors at a building we owned....and best bet in those days was to crawl slowly on the floor. I'm sure the technology is far more sophisticated now and it might not work like it did in the 90s.

John Bell was actually charged for more than just the armed robbery. He also was charged with 3 or 4 counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm because he tried to shoot out the lock on the door. For those who are not aware, most bullets are made of lead with a copper jacketed exterior. Both copper and lead are very soft metals and will deform and fragment when striking any surface, especially a hardened metal surface…such as steel locks and steel security bars

Which isn't a lot but is an easy pay day since it was right in the window and since most people would assume it's just a worthless toy, the owners included, very little effort would be put in to track it down

This video reminds me of something I saw once:
After a convenience store gets hit by robbers one too many times, the owner installs a special security barrier that pops UP from the counter to lock up the cash register. When one guy of a group of robbers tries to jump over the counter to get at the cash register, his neck gets caught on the security barrier. Ouch! My neck was sore for a week after just watching that.

On a similar note, a cafe gets held up by a guy wearing an Optimus Prime mask for a disguise, and carrying a fake gun, but a real knife. Someone, obviously frustrated that his coffee was delayed, decides that he’s Megatron, grabs his chair, and declares war on the thief. During the war, both get nicked with the knife, which is how the thief gets caught.
