The kalimba is one of the coolest instruments. There's no wierd way to hold it it doesn't require tools to play it you just pluck and the sounds are incredible! For such a basic wooden box with little metal arms it truly dose allow you to do so much with so little...

If you cover both holes on the back and move your thumb closer and further from the front hole after playing a note you can make a cool "wah" effect for a little vibrato
as a kalimba player who started playing piano first its so much easier. You can transfer so many songs and skills over to the kalimba it definitely gives a massive advantage
Covering the 2 holes on the back changes the sound and gives it a bit of a reverb, also going G4-C4 (first set of tines alphabetically) sounds like a doorbell
