I discovered this brilliant pianist on RUclips and have watched many of his performances several times. It’s clear that Rachmaninoff lives through him. I’ve been blessed to see him at Tanglewood with MTT, with the Buffalo Philharmonic, and last Saturday with the New World Symphony in Miami. My Buffalo cousins tell me that he’s coming back. I’ll be there with them. Thank you Alexander for your lifelong commitment to music. I don’t know if you have any idea how much you are appreciated and loved. Happy belated 23rd birthday and I’m delighted that you have so many more years ahead to share your wonderful talent with the world. 🙏🏻
Oh my God, that was so lovely. I’m not sure but it seems to me sometimes he incorporates his own interpretation on the timing. I’ve noticed that when he plays Edvard Grieg’s piano concerto in A minor opus 16, that he plays with the timing in the adagio sections and makes them uniquely his own… he is so incredibly gifted.
I've been on this concert in Amsterdam and even got his autograph. Alex was very easy talk to people, answering the questions. No any " star" flair. Absolutely amazing young man
You are a very great pianist and person I have been following you for years now when you were a little boy and I will continue to follow you until the end of my life i am now 82 …bravo Alexander I love you and your work Grandma Silvana !
Wherever he lives, his Russian soul and musical talent is in him. And when it is about Rachmaninoff's compositions, Alexander stands out by conveying the beauty and contrasting emotions of the melodies.
Alexander, I've been following you on YT for a few years, and I truly appreciate how you bring joyousness and deep respect to the music and to your musical gifts. I'm remembering Robert Shaw saying something like, "The music isn't complete until it is performed and _received_ (heard)." To which I might add, "and felt". I _feel_ the music when you share it with us. Kudos!
WOW. I’ve got goosebumps! Superb ❤. Dear Alex when you said it was like the sea - a storm - that’s exactly the feeling I get when I hear this piece, and now I always will. I can’t believe you played that for that small audience - how lucky were they - I hope they know they know they just witnessed a genius at work/ play. May you go from strength to strength 💐💐💐xxx
Such a wonderful performance of Rachmaninoff C# minor prelude by Alexander! Very excellent interview also, though the interviewer states that Alexander is 23 - he is still only 22 until October of this year. The piece was inspired by Russian church bells - I love this interpretation! The piece starts at about 5:16 minutes in.
I don’t agree, the interview was shallow, when talking to one of the best pianists in the world you need to conduct proper research in advance and prepare revealing questions that inform the listener.
To me the interview reveals Alexander's qualities that I have admired, his humility, gentleness, seriousness, dedication and intelligence. Many may not realize the type of personality that he has.
Aleksandr Malofeev is my favorite pianist whose skill, heart and soul manifests the genius, soul and majesty of Sergei Rachmaninoff's music. Rachmaninoff, one of the greatest composers and Malofeev, a true son of Rachmaninoff!!
