    Hey great job brother I'm just like you man I'm a huge Ted Nugent fan I think he's so underrated because he's not a fall down drunken throwing up heroin addict he's one of the best guitar players on the planet hands down when with you brother great job

    About the secret Ted giving them out. Most guitar players of our age and listening background know how great the man is. I have sat in with bands in clubs and got up there and played Stranglehold studio version and I have never had a single complaint not even another guitar player in the audience come up and say anything short of. "That was the best version of Stranglehold that I have ever seen played in a club" The reason that means so much to me as I am sure you can relate is that he is guitar playing to it's finest in my opinion. Talk Talk Talk. The comments don't mean shit. Ted is probably playing on a vintage Byrd right now bro! I have never driven a stingray and I have never played a Byrdland. I would pass the fuck out if the man handed me his and said let'r rip tattr chip ! I love Ted Nugent. Rock on bro. You are blessed. If you ever get out to AZ look me up. I am in Glendale.

      I have to say, in general, people have always been very forgiving and complimentary when I/we played, especially on the Nuge stuff and, even when I didn't think we deserved praise. The same has been true on this channel. I'm very grateful! Thanks for the encouragement!

    I love the Plywood comment dude. I have been a TN fan since I started playing in 1976-77 because of HIM. I would love to meet him and play the part of DSH once or 10 times.

      I too would not be playing guitar if it wasn't for him. I wasn't infected by the gift of Ted until about 1979 - 80. Some big shoes to fill with DSH.

    Byrd your comment about the way that stuff sound like more than one guitar (same as in the solo to Free for All) struck a nerve. I fully appreciated Ted's use of sixths and oblique bends long before I knew what it was. It just dug in and grabbed ya. Sound like a big block getting a dual quad throttle blipped just as the secondaries crack. Those kind of licks proliferated then from the way George Harrison used sixths on down. But Ted brought it down to street level for us. Really EVH and Angus and the rest were ripping off Ted ripping off Elmore James and Muddy Waters. Haha. Great stuff.

    • @ByrdmanSteve
      @ByrdmanSteve  6 лет назад

      I don't really think any of those you mentioned were ripping anybody off, certainly not consciously anyway. I would say it's not doubt an amazing evolution of influence injected with each of the artists personalities. I've often said, love Ted or hate him, nobody injects their personality into their music like he does! Thanks for the post!

    Hey Byrdman. Am a huge Ted fan, since Amboy Dukes. Your videos are an inspiration, I am learning alot and your enthusiasm is fueling the fire.
    I even went and got a guitar like your black copy, but with a flame top. Changed pick ups etc sounds awesome. Just have a question for you. What did you use for the rubber grommet on pickup switch? So far haven't found anything close. Managed to see Ted live in the UK a few years ago. My hearing hasn't been the same since! Loving the videos, keep it up Byrdman, I want more!!

    • @ByrdmanSteve
      @ByrdmanSteve  4 года назад

      Thank you Mark! We are a tight group:) Based on my notes, I ordered a few of those rubber grommets from guitarpartsfactory.us part number EP-4924-023. I will warn you, the Chicom hole is usually too small for the grommet. And yes we are still talking about guitars-:) I had to drill the hole out a tad which is harder than if there were no hole at all but that rubber grommet was a must for me. There's never been a weak or quiet Ted show that's for sure! I need to get on some more videos no doubt. Thanks for the encouragement n keep in touch!

    @ByrdManSteve Hey Steve! In the past I have talked to you about alternative byrdlands and what would be similar style but without the hefty price tag because of course I’m a young guitarist and can’t afford that haha. But anyways I was wondering what you thought about the Yamaha ae1200s it seems to be a copy of an L5. It’s got about the same body depth of the L5 instead of a Byrd which is quite thick and instead of having a 23.5 or even a 24.75 scale length it has a 25.5 that of course is 2” more. Thanks for reading and hope to hear back from you! (I was originally trying to send this on Twitter and instagram but it wouldn’t let me so this is the only place I could reach you)

    • @ByrdmanSteve
      @ByrdmanSteve  4 года назад +1

      I'm pretty sure I got mine from guitarpartsresource.com part # EP-4924-023 (showing out of stock at the moment). The Chicom guitars have a smaller toggle switch hole. It's not the easiest but you have to make the hole a tad larger for the grommet to fit.

    Hey Byrdman Steve. The sound you get out of your guitars is awesome. Was wondering if you ever played a newer Epiphone Broadway hollowbody? If so can you get similar Ted sounds using a Marshall type amp with the Epiphone. I want to buy a guitar to get that raw Ted sound your getting. Thanks

    • @ByrdmanSteve
      @ByrdmanSteve  6 лет назад

      daniel gunning Thanks my friend. I’ve not played a Broadway. I do have an Epiphone Florentine semi hollow body. I used it in one of my videos. I remember playing Out of Control on it. It doesn’t have the intensity of this Epiphone Les Paul. I’m not sure if it’s because it is hollow or the pickups etc. I always preach 75% is Tedley attitude. If Ted grabbed your guitar and jammed, it would be raw Ted:) I’m playing through an ID Core 100 Blackstar.

      @@tambor76 Yes, there is up/down picking for this riff. It's a very unusual riff. I used to muscle it out to get the speed of it but it couldn't be more relaxed when he's playing it. It's just getting that fluid, relaxed up down wrist movement in just the right rhythm for the riff and just the right palm muting. It's one of those things that's easy on paper but matching Ted's technique is a life long task lol. Thanks for the kind words too!
