They should have reset the QB cap hit by letting him walk, played Taylor this season, and continued building the team for NEXT year and the years beyond. They've now handcuffed themselves for at LEAST two years with him. BONUS .... Barkley is LEAVING next year.

I feel your pain as a Seahawks fan. Obviously we didn't get blown out but the hawks looked awful as well. Only week one though, who knows what could happen. Getting blown out like that again with Brian Daboll as a coach is very unlikely IMO.

I'm a Hawks fan, and I knew we weren't gonna win because everybody was gassing us up. Had everyone called us dogshit with multiple question marks, we would've pulled it off. I'm anxious over next week with the Lions with their ready-made momentum off their win over the SB champs.

It was one game. Don't worry about it too much. The Giants are not that bad and the Cowboys are not that good. Week 1 may as well have been another week of pre season. A lot of teams looked sloppy and unprepared this weekend.

as a vikings fan i can relate the cowboys did it to the viking last year well at least the vikings got a field goal we scored 3 and cowboys 40. and i felt embarrassed but it was just a game and we still won the division unfortunately my vikings lost it was a tough loss we only lost by 3 points but our defense looked better.the giants are my second favorite team and they just looked bad i hope the giants do better next game that was the worst game of the weekend the giants i just hope my vikings can beat the eagles we play them in philadelphia and we don’t do well there i am hoping my vikings pull out a win and beat the eagles but i know it will be tough i am expecting a loss but if my vikings win that’s great i am sorry about the giants you should not be sorry the giants should be they did not look good
I lost a 3 game parlay because the vikings couldn't beat baker Mayfield. Yeah don't hold your breath
Back when Phil Simms was playing in the early 80's, he was terrible. Had two season ending injuries. He got benched for the back up. He was given all that leash and even after a 3-12 season Phil Simms finally got his chance to prove himself which he did. Brought the Giants to a 9-7 record and a wildcard win. Even in his 1986 Super Bowl season where they went 14-2, there were games where he was terrible. The 2nd time the Giants played Dallas, he was so terrible that he was booed by the Giant fans. The thing is the Giant defense was so good the Giants still won 17-14. Phil Simms had that leash and with Daniel Jones it may not be as long, but the thing is he signed that contract. So the Giants are stuck with him and other players. It may be one game, but if the Giants can't turn around quickly, their season may be a long one.

Eli was even worse. Honestly Eli was trash for most of his career but especially as a rookie. Giants were most likely playoff bound with Kurt Warner and they benched him for Eli. Giants lost every game the rest of his season. Veterans who busted their tail their entire career like Stratham, Shockey, and Barber were irate

I feel like the Giants believed their own hype and when they got punched in the mouth, they didnt know how to respond. And when it rains, it pours.
The Giants arent this bad. At least i dont think they are. They have a few very talented pieces and a very solid coaching staff. You dont go from having a decent year to bottom of the barrel trash in one offseason, especially when you've upgraded in spots.
They just needed this slice of humble pie to ground themselves. Theyre not making any superbowl.... but theyre not getting blown out every game.

Haven't seen a Giants performance this bad in debatably my 25+ years of being a fan of them. That's really saying something. Hopefully it's just an outlier game and the team plays more like their 2022 selves the coming weeks.

The rookies on the o-line need coaching. Things move at a different pace in the NFL. They were unprepared for that.
I think that statline you mentioned sums up the game pretty well. There have been bigger blowouts, even bigger shutouts, in the NFL, but have any of them looked THAT bad? And during the season opener at home, when you made the decision to open the roof during a downpour, thinking it'd give you an advantage.
I don't think you could embarrass yourselves more in a regular season game, as I say this as a Cowboys fan who watched my team lose 6-44 in the final week of the 2008 season with a division title and playoff berth on the line against a division rival.

Giants bid against themselves in a race to pay Jones $40M & then tried to give him plays to match his pay. That’s not who he is, that’s not who the Giants are. Paying everyone at 9-7-1 against bad teams makes players think they’ve arrived. They have a long way to go. Jones can’t play fast drop back football when the Giants get behind. Leave the starters on the field who helped make that mess.
Last year, the Bears beat the 49ers in week 1. You can't panic on a week 1 lost.

I wasn't one of the homers thinking they' were going to rip off a 13-win season, but I thought they'd at least be competitive with good teams this year. After Sunday night if any fan thinks this team is winning in SF (who cares if they beat the Cardinals, it's a shitty team that would rather lose to us than win because they have 800 problems all of them named Kyler Murray and they need to get to where they can draft his replacement) they're completely delusional.
Lauren in 2007 we got trounced back to back by the Cowboys and Packers to open the season and almost lost and it took a goal line stand with time expiring to stop a hapless Redskins team from beating us. We came half a yard from 0-3. That year we won the superbowl. The 13-3 Dallas swept us and we looked over matched against them in 2 games, couldn't stop their running game and they dominated TOP yet we went to Dallas in the playoffs and beat them. We also beat the same 13-3 GB team that trounced us in week 2 in sub 30 temp to go to the superbowl at a time when GB never lost nfc championship games. Then we beat the undefeated 18-0 Patriots. So while it looks bleak, you can't judge a team by one game. Anything can happen in a 4 month long season. If the line continues to struggle like this the entire year then were screwed but the USC qb is not gonna fix anything. And before you say oh but those Giants teams had an oline and Eli and Strahan and so forth, the truth is they looked like absolute trash for half the season.
I am an Eagles fan and yes we played sloppy yesterday BUT i would 100% take roseman everyday/season over most gms in the league. Our o-line is always top 1 or 2 in the nfl. Jalen Hurts is the real deal. Giants should have never drafted Daniel Jones-- they also should have taken parsons over toney when he was sitting right there. In all honesty danny dimes is average at best. Should have paid Barkley, he was one of the best running backs to come out of penn state, even in hogh school he was amazing loved wplaying with the guy in high school. 👏🏽

There is no QB in the league who could get anything going behind the Giants OLine, in particular the right side. I wish we could see what Dak or Hurts would look like in similar conditions.

The giants have zero big play potential which means virtually every scoring drive has to be 20 plays which leaves more room for negative plays .. saquon stinks and finds every reason to fall down , trip , or get tackled by his shoe lace .. the last receiver we had that made huge plays which effected the outcome of the game was Victor Cruz .. that’s pathetic .. the giants are the most boring , lame , predictable organization in all of football and we aren’t close to having the talent that Dallas or Philly does.
The Cowboys have spent a lot of money and draft picks to build that Defense, plus Jerry Jones is paying Dan Quinn a ton of money to stay in Dallas and keep the building going...Will McClay is the one who is finding the players like Parsons .....!

I'm a Cowboys fan, but a rational one at that. I spent the entire 1st half waiting for Dallas to do the Dallas thing and just completely collapse. And there was pretty much no part of our offense that I was particularly impressed with. I'm still not happy about this win, but I'll take it. I came away feeling less like we won it than NY just gave us this game for free. I don't expect the Cowboys to look this dominant again until we play Arizona. I could completely see us losing 3 of the next 4 games. By the same token, I don't think NY will be THIS bad either. You guys have the Cardinals next week to get back on track, but the next few games after that have the potential to be pretty rough too. Hope it doesn't get worse :(
You don't sound like a Cowboys fan. How can you not be happy with that defensive showing?! As for the offense, go look at offensive stats for all the teams that played in the rain on the east coast yesterday. None of them had fabulous passing stats. Bad weather games are usually about the run and defense.

I was pleased with the defensive play, but it's really hard to tell if that was us playing well, or the Giants playing that poorly. Week 2 is the Jets. If we do the same thing against Rodgers and THAT roster, then I'll feel better.

I think the Giants are decent and they’ll be a playoff team. But my Cowboys defense is elite and we beat the Vikings the same way last year. Our defense is even better now with Gilmore and Mazi. We have no weaknesses defensively. The Giants test will be next week. If they fold next week then you should worry.

Dallas beat NY like a red headed step child last night! I think it's a combination tho, Dallas being a really good defense while NY being subpar on every level no matter the position. NY vs AZ, 2 of the absolute worst teams in existence, it should be a close one, 2 teams fighting for whose the worst team ever!
