As far as I know, some of them were co-trainees of SB19. PHP is actually PABLO's group prior to him joining SB19. Pablo was their maknae back then. Then they joined SBT training and only PABLO made it to SB19. They are underrated and I remember PABLO cried seeing them at the PPOPCon.
You’re definitely right. The resources in Korea are tremendous and therefore afford their local talent a lot of exposure in the West. On the other side of it, the Philippines fails in comparison to resources and is very limited. Although it falls short in resources, one cannot deny the fact that it is overflowing in raw, unfiltered talent. Not needing all that filtering, auto-tune and what technology can offer. They do not require reconstructive surgery to look good. Everything is natural.unfortunately, that’s how the world works. Money talks. Real is out and Fake is in!!!
we can lift our own gems without pulling others down. and i'd be careful in mentioning reconstructive surgery. we all know not all of them are 'natural.' this is why i love Ken Felip. it doesn't seem like he's interested in bleaching his skin (at least to me it looks like he's keeping his original skin tone). it makes me look up to him more. he is packaged as is with nothing to embellish him but pure creativity and raw talent. if he would decide to change it, i'd still love him. but the sheer courage to showcase himself, warts and all, is too underrated. if we want Philippines to be represented, let us represent us properly. it's painful to see artists who feel the need to change their noses or skin color to fit the idea of an image that has nothing to do with the talent.
@@saiyongdawn7756 'a little glow up' is very subjective. not to mention the thought process that leads one to that decision is an admission that there is something wrong with how one looks. it's never been and never will be fair to perpetuate the idea that there is something wrong with our genetics.. proud pinoy pero di tanggap ang kulay o ilong, etc... parang may mali. Kz tandingan in her audition before said she wanted to join to prove that the industry doesn't only belong to the tall, pointy-nosed and fair-skinned people. look at her now, all 'glowed up'. a LITTLE glow-up is changing your hair color or hairstyle or wearing accessories. changing your skin color, having a nose job? i'm not too sure. i'm too proud of a Filipino to accept that western features are THE standard. what is wrong with a short, brown-skinned, pug-nosed person who can sing?
@@iamgagab never said there's something wrong with taking care of oneself. but we are not honest in our categorization. fixing one's teeth is as much a MEDICAL NECESSITY as it is aesthetic. teeth orientation or alignment can affect the way you pronounce words. that's just a simple fact. but you're framing skin bleaching to boost one's confidence as if being brown is something to be ashamed of. filipinos are phenotypically short in stature with black hair and brown skin unless you have mixed roots. so what is wrong with leaning to the fact that we naturally look like that? this has been a severe and chronic problem of the entertainment industry. you have to look a certain way. i am pressed to think how few (if any) artists haven't had any work done to lighten their skin or 'fix' their nose as if these are broken parts. everybody is trying to look like a white person or what we call mestizo/mestiza, thanks to spanish colonizers. more than 300 years later and we still think that to be the absolute standard of beauty. and even more problematic, those who are already naturally fair skinned become even more ghostly whitish. i am pretty sure that if technology came to a point where being taller is no longer painful, exhaustive and expensive process, that a lot of people would be doing it too. we tend to envy people with these features. the bigger problem for me is believing this ideal of beauty to be true. have we ever considered that maybe the reason we have a confidence problem and a perceived need for a 'glow up' and to 'take care' of ourselves in that way is because of the heavy idea of the entertainment industry to have to look a certain way? why do i have a sense that western actors don't bleach themselves to add more to their public appeal? even some western actors don't necessarily fix their teeth. it's an asian obsession to want to have whiter skin and it's so effed up. we have to stop lying and call bull caca for what it is. lastly, i invoke religiosity. for a god-fearing nation, people certainly are struggling and clearly defying with what their god has given them. so there's also that. it's a huge irreconcilable mess is what this is and it is not okay. we have to be honest about it.
Aside from SB19, this boygroup is also one of my ults. They are very hands on with their music. Producer, composer, lyricist, editor, conceptualizer, they can do all things as well. Stan Press Hit Play!
Finally! PHP! The music is self-written, self-produced and conceptualized, and fantastic. They’re one group who are actually older than most of the groups you’ve already reacted to despite only having debuted during the pandemic. Gone through a lot of struggles and changes as well but still are hanging in there for the love of music and performing. PHP deserves so much more and I hope you’ll enjoy seeing them live at PPOP Con! P-Pop artists live, on a whole, are on an entirely different level.
Talk about underdogs, PHP and SB19 are 2 groups that are the definition of it - both are from small companies, with little budget for music production, much less for promotions. The achievements they have now, they got bec of their talents and sheer hardwork. Both groups compose and produce their own songs, do their own choreo, are very hands-on w/ their contents, even their mv. No other ppop group atm can claim that except for these 2. And they are hands on not only bec they want to be, but sadly bec they have to be, given the small resource they have. Oh, and both groups are awesome at live vocals/performances, and funny and humble to boot. (Sorry to insert SB19, but can't help to point out the parallels and why i stan these 2 groups 🥹)
Ahhhh! Thank you for reacting! So grateful you got a chance to do WIN! Their rapper, Zi.o, is just an amazing lyricist with the rap 🤩 sad that he left the group though. I wanna add a thank you! Because I feel like I'm getting a behind the scenes of the songs you react to because of your producer's point of view. I love all the inout you did on the song. Because JP, one of the members, is the producer of their songs. And i feel like you're explaining to us what was going through his brain. 🤩 The resources for sure is... something... Press Hit Play debuted during the pandemic, and they wanted to film this outside but... pandemic. Besides that, the group used to train in an outdoor basketball court because they don't have the spaces and resources to train. There was even a time they recorded their pre-debut songs with a closet full of pillows just to get those vocals in. So thank you soooo much for deciding to help them promoting!
WIN = Want It Now I only thought of it just Now! They also have a wish bus perf with their single TELL ME. That one is also very catchy. What I love about PHP is they write and produce their own songs. Amazing talent. I just hope more people will get to hear their music. I also saw them perform live on PPOP CON last year and they're so good!
Btw GKD, you are right on the money about the resources needed to help these groups attain more viewership. KPOP has the resources. But PPOP is slowly starting to thanks to resources like yourself.👌
I hope you get to listen/watch Press Hit Play's other songs! Even just at your own time! Their TELL ME music video is something i think you'll like because of the references and the sound itself. I also think you'll like FOREVER YOUNG because of the story! But yeah, thank you so so so so so much for checking them out! Hoping they'll be on Wish Bus when you get here in the PH!
This is the group where SB19 Pablo came. He consider these guys as his mentors because in this group is where he was nurtured as a performer prior to his stint to ShowBT. Actually, they were all trainees from ShowBT but unfortunately, not all of them made it. PHP JP was the last one to be eliminated and almost made it as a member of SB19.
PHP is unfortunately underrated although their songs are great. Because of this they had lost some key members. Hopefully they’ll gain more recognition.
