Maybe the look will grow on me in about 15yrs and I’ll buy a nice used one for around 17k.. lol I bought a used 170k mile 2012 Seq. last year for $11,500 cash. 1 owner and drove good as my brand new 2019 Tundra. Toyota’s are great. I just hope this new platform can promise the same. I prefer the V8.. I told someone else on here that I could care less if they made a 3cyl Truck that could do 0-120mph in 7 secs and got 40mpg. The 4.6 & 5.7 Toyota made were perfected..🤌
Idk. Everyone told me how good the 5.7 is and I’ve been bitterly disappointed in mine. It’s headed to the shop next week with a very loud valve train rattle, it’s slower than my v6 Camry, and gets pathetic fuel mileage. I did pull about 5000 lbs with it once, and it almost felt as if it produced more power when towing… just my humble opinion
@@justinmartin8887 Well obviously it would be slower than a Camry and have horrible fuel economy, it’s an extremely heavy vehicle with a thirsty V8! The torque and reliability is what makes those great, not speed. Admittedly though if you thought those were gonna be bonuses I see how you’d be disappointed in it, but that’s an extremely unrealistic expectation to have of a full size SUV. V8s are all designed to be powerful, not all are designed to be fast. As an aside, a loud valve train isn’t exactly a serious repair. More often than not it’s due to oil condition and filter. People don’t usually brag about the 5.7 for it’s power, they brag about it for its towing ability and it’s longevity, but even longevity doesn’t mean without problems. You’re disappointed in the engine for problems that are entirely of your own making because they’re unrealistic expectations of an SUV like this. I mean, why would you buy a giant, full size SUV, with a huge naturally aspired V8 and expect anything more than 15 MPG on a good day while driving downhill dude? Why would you buy that same car expecting it to have any real speed at all when it has to move that weight and heft? Again, extremely unrealistic expectations on your part. In fact, I’d argue that your expectations of it are so unrealistic that they actually bar you from even voicing a concern on the matter. That’s like buying a restaurant that can hold 1,000 people and inviting Gordon Ramsay to the opening night while only having a microwave to cook their food! That’s how ridiculously unrealistic that is! I’m shocked that you’d even comment that admission! I never actually comment on things I find ridiculous on RUclips because like why bother, but this comment was so annoying to me as a car guy that I had to. You’ll probably never see this and I don’t care, I just had to say how ridiculous that is. 🤦🏼♂️
@@ConnorGibbsAK it cost me $1600 to replace the timing chain tensioner. That’s what was wrong with it. Never had a major repair even half the cost of that on my other Toyotas. It is a tundra by the way, and in all honesty it’s a very nice driving truck. Just slower and has more problems than what the fanboys would indicate. Hence why I think the 3.5tt will be a nice upgrade
@awaters0206 I understand I may have gotten a lemon or a beat up truck. My point is, the 5.7 I force is depicted as a million mile miracle; whilst some lesser bragged up Toyotas like the 4.0,3.5, and 3.4 Toyotas are as good as, or better than the iforce
I hope this drivetrain is better than the 5.7 v8. Everyone tells me how good they are, but mine is headed to the shop next week with a loud valve train rattle, it’s slower than my v6 Camry, and gets pathetic fuel mileage.
This is actually not bad.. I’m still concern about how the 4Runner will look with a refresh.. Plus I feel like getting rid of their legendary V8 is a big mistake.
I think these will take some sales away from a price point especially with expeditions and navigators catching fire 🔥 that torque seems like it would be a great tow vehicle
@@iamqofi Yeah it makes more power, but look at the tach and listen to the engine. It's working a lot harder than a v8 would be under similar conditions and common sense dictates that extra load can't possibly be good for long-term engine health. Then again it's Toyota, so we'll see in 10 years whether strain from the high loads or their famous reliability wins out.
Owned a Gen 3 4runner and updated that to a Gen 2 Sequioa. I think the new Tundra and Sequoia styling are a bit of a let down. The biggest WTF is that they've completely abandoned the off-road community with the way their marketing the new models. This reminds me of the Gen 4 4-runner "soccer mom" tragedy. And the problem is that we're now stuck with this hideous design for 10+ years. I hate to say it but they're going to lose a lot of new customers to Ford (bronco, lighting). Oh well, I'm perfectly content driving a 10 year old truck.

Yes
Why do the screens blink? It makes my eyes dizzy
It's because of how the refresh rate shows on camera. It doesn't flicker or blink in person.

Why is it that the screen keeps on blinking?.... its irritating to my eyes.... malfunctioned?
The refresh rate of the screen is higher than that of the camera used to film it. You don't see any of that blinking in person.

Toyota could have put a power split device in this as opposed to a 10 speed, yet they didn't. What a waste.
