      Hi Max - I'm interested in using ActiveCampaign's event tracking API to record more user specific activity by specific clicks and views. But I'm not a web developer (just a marketer) and don't know how to implement the event tracking API to my web page(s). Do you have any resources to help me with that?

    Hello Max, thanks for this video. I am beginner in web marketing and just started with activecampaign.
    My question is maybe stupid, but in your first automation example (Tag interests), I do not understand any interest to track visited pages since we do not have any information about the visitor (email...) in order to add him or her to a contact list or another automation.. Please explain. Thanks so much !

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  4 года назад +2

      Hey Yves! Good question!
      After you've installed the tracking script on your website, ActiveCampaign will know which contact is which visitor after they clicked a link in your email or submitted a form 😄
      For anonymous people that are not on your list, it won't work.
      I hope that makes sense 🙃

    Hey Max - great video, I was wondering - do you know how long the site tracking "has visited url" information is stored? Does that information last forever? I'm working on building email automations for car dealerships. It doesn't really help me if I know that a contact visited a page about the Kia Niro 16+ times 4 years ago - they likely bought the car or moved on. However, it would be very useful to know if a contact was looking at Kia Niro pages 16+ times 2 days ago, though. Is there any way you know that I can distinguish between those two cases? Thanks in advance

    Hi Max. Thanks for this video, really helped my understanding of what I can do with AC. Do you know of a way that you can track the referring url (Ad, social channel, search) that a brand new website visitor came from and log that so that it can be attached when they opt in / open an email?

      @maxvcollenburg  4 года назад

      Hey Eliot! Glad it helped you understand what's possible 😄
      It is possible to track & store the source of a lead into a custom field, but it depends on how your website is build and what kind of forms you are using.
      Here's a video from Dave Wooding that shows you how to store UTM parameters as a cookie, and then push them into a hidden field in a ActiveCampaign Form: ruclips.net/video/1-I6PRVaoRI/видео.html

      Which software are you using? Maybe I can point you into the right direction 🙃

    Hi Max, thanks for this tutorial! quick question though: When an interest tag is added to a contact and that person enters and completes an automation, is it possible that that same person can receive the exact same tag and go through the same automation another time (lets say a week later)? Or do you have to remove/change the interest tag given to him/her the first time? I'm having an issue where my contacts already in my list dont enter the same tag+automation again and its not the 'Once/multiple times'' setting in the tag setup. hope to hear from you. best wishes

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  Год назад +1

      Hey Marnix! If 'tag is added' is the trigger of your automation, it can only start if that tag is added to the profile again IF they don't have it yet.
      So set it to 'run multiple times' and make sure the tag is not there anymore when it's added.
      Hope that helps! 🤗

      @@maxvcollenburg Hey Max, Thank you for your reply! I was unaware that you have to build a 'Remove Tag' step in the automation in order to re-add the contact to that same automation.
      I'm having the weirdest issue with the site tracking though, hope you could help me with it:
      I have the tracking code installed on my site and I see the site activity in the contact's history. However, my Interest tagging automation is not starting for these contacts. It did work at start, but now it has stopped and i have no clue why. I have the trigger setup the exact same way as you do in the video with the wildcard (*) added to my site. I've also tried to have exact url's however nothing works.

    • @maxvcollenburg

      Hey Eldan! I'm using event tracking for a couple of things, but it's muchhhh more techy than site tracking unfortunately.
      I hooked it up with Google Tag Manager, which makes it a little bit easier to track certain events. So now, for example, when someone plays a video it shows up inside ActiveCampaign.
      Just not sure how I could best explain it in a tutorial, haha.

    Hey brother, thanks! you're such a pro. I've got a question though: I'm using site tracking to trigger an automation that has the objective to unsubscribe them from a list and also stop them from receiving other email automations (kind like the abandoned cart but for me is people that aren't fit for a consultation call). I realized this site tracking wasn't working at all, and after contacting an ActiveCampaign support guy, he said this could only be used if two things happened; the form was created through ActiveCampaign and embedded into the landing page (Click funnels opt-in page in my case). He also told me that the site I wanted to be tracked had to be the one step after the opt-in for it to be tracked (in my case there's one more step before). So now I'm frustrated because all my leads are coming from a Clickfunnels form (integrated with my lists in ActiveCampaign) and I still can't use the site tracking. Any ideas or am I being too confusing lol. Thanks!!!

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  3 года назад

      Hey Daniel! Yes, site tracking only starts working after someone completed an activecampaign form or clicked a link inside on of your emails to your website.
      This is because there's no way for ActiveCampaign otherwise to know who's who.
      There are scripts you can use to pass the email onto ActiveCampaign, but that's a bit more techy.
      Is there not another way for you to get people off your list? Maybe when they click a certain link inside one of your emails?

  • @petersteur3848

    Hi Max,
    Interesting video. On the automation, why would you create so many if/else statements. Why not create the automation for a specific page that has a specific interest and then define the action(s) in that automation. It may be personal preference but I would rather have an automation per 'interest' that delivers the action within that automation. So, for your video - if I was interested in Marketing Automation, I get tagged as "Marketing Automation" - which then triggers an email sequence on the marketing automation videos I have created. I would then label this automation as "Marketing Automation Nurture Sequence" (or similar). For me, it is cleaner to manage. What do you think?

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  3 года назад

      I think it comes down to personal preference. Both works & has the same outcome.
      I personally like it better to keep it inside one automation, as I already have so many other automations. But if a separate automation per interest makes more sense to you, go for it! 😄

    what is the difference between Site Tracking and event tracking
    ?

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  3 года назад +1

      Hey Jackson! Good question!
      Site tracking is to track which pages someone is visiting, event tracking can be used for what someone does on those pages. You can for example track when someone plays a video, clicks a button, clicks a link, etc.

    • @maxvcollenburg
      @maxvcollenburg  4 года назад +2

      Hey Alejandro! That would be cool, but unfortunately, that's not possible as I'm aware of.
