Gilbert was massive in the 70s, beautiful songs, a legend.
my mom is a long time Gilbert fan, he met him after a show a few years ago, he was utterly lovely, she was so star stuck she didn't know what too say, she said something like " I have loved you years, I don't know what to say", Gilbert: "that's alright, you don't have to say anything, shall we take a picture?" and put his arms around her for a photo and was just a lovely man.

Helped a lot of people. Its such a great song. Every time I hear it (And I hear it a lot) its like a time machine. It takes me right back to 1972
when I first met _Dolores!_ 💘 My future wife. We married in the Summer of 1976. But its true, songs are like Time Machines. You close your eyes
and the song takes you back to the time it came out, what you were doing at the time , and you wish to God you can go back!

Lucky enough to go to his concert in Melbourne, Australia March 2018. As good as ever, and my wife met him after the concert, very nice man, had a long queue for the meet & greet & did not rush anybody through.

As my father would say, 'He's still got the pipes.' Like a fine wine, his voice has mellowed with age. So much heatfelt sincerity in this performance. Also, great advice for future generation of songwriters. Do what you love, and love what you do. Long live G.O.

Hugely underestimated as a songwriter and wow he still sounds wonderful. Unusual and hauntingly beautiful songs I grew up with and now after a lifetime teaching music his songs still touch me . Alone again naturally is surely one of the great songs of the last century with its beautiful chord progressions and those lovely minor chords which he somehow makes his own. So down to earth and un luvvy as a person.....the genuine and reassuring face of honest talent. So few things in life give such lasting pleasure. Thanks Giibert!
My all time favourite singer/songwriter....never tire listening to his music. Saw him live a few years ago......absolutely brilliant.
Fifty one years since this was written and released, it sounds as fresh today as it did then and GOS is as brilliant as ever.
I thought he was the best in 1970 and I still do.
His lyrics have always meant something special and the only thing better for me, was to be able to take my wife to see him perform in Sydney.
The man's a genius.
Gilbert has a massive talent he's been around forever.
Sadly he fell out with his manager Gordon Mills & he couldn't release anything & he disappeared. A great songwriter, first 2 albs were super songs & lyrics.
Wow, and a thousand Wowws!! Imagine how technology brings you a person, though its only a screen but he's live and real.... a person you were so amazed and with all those years back since I've heard and loved, "ALONE AGAIN NATURALLY" piece.. a piece of musical work that i can align only with GREATS like BURT BACHARACH, C.GOFFIN, C.KING, EVERLY BROS, BEATLES, etc. who make songs "JUST FOR THE LIKES, WHIMS AND DICTATES" of their own self ingenuities and true to the heart and soul homegrown talents...
This is GILBERT O'SULLIVAN, that since 1974 i was dying to see who he was, how does he look like, how does he do his things
alone and quietly in musical studios and sessions, how does write songs, etc.
After all those years, i can hear him only on radio airwaves in the Philippines, and whenever i hear them - all the while i thought, "THAT PIECE WAS WRITTEN BY BURT B., BUT I WAS WRONG" - as Gilbert's musical prowess in writing is as par as BURT BACHARACH, if you only have to DISSECT line by line, segment by segment his creations... this is in my own true opinion only, i don't know with others - they can have their own analysis, for me it's an honest opinion.
Like for example, THIS VERY FIRST SONG he gave us at ITV interview.... THAT PIECE GILBERT PERFORMED WHICH HE HIMSELF HAS WRITTEN, "has the taste and style of JOHN LENNON"!! Does anyone notice that?? or its only me??
We can ask GILBERT himself when he was writing that song (i don't know the title), it sounded, styled, and has a "swagg" just like that of the BEATLE brilliant-man, JOHN LENNON.
Anyway, now i can follow GILBERT, and from now on can monitor his musical writings from hereon. THANKS ITV Interviewers, you made my day today - 19 Feb 2021!! i just happened to and accidentally hit this YTube re GILBERT, as i was recording my own, ALONE AGAIN NATURALLY stuff at SMULE....

My family adored Mr Osullivan he struck a chord with my late Grandmother and her sisters in there hearts,they would sing heart and soul to these songs. I sometimes look back to them times in contemplation and think of the happy times i spent among them .God bless you Mr Osullivan

I met the lady in Swindon who used to look after him when he was a boy.
She told me of how he would lock himself in the garden shed, to play the piano and work on his writing every day.
..... That my friends, is how I believe it is done.

I was 14 when I bought the record, Nothing Rhymed which I have on my MP3 Player, along with Alone again naturally, and some other of his great songs. One of my favourites and he still sounds great

This song reminds me of my childhood, my brother bought the single and it was played over and over again. Such a beautiful song, real poetry. Oh and my brother had the GOS cardigan with a big G on it.

I m sure gilbert has been asked the same unimaginative questions hundreds of times I've certainly heard the answers alot. That's TV for you ...good to see him I do admire his best work and have enjoyed his live show too on tours .He write and out out s lot of new albums periodically which go unheaed by other than devoted fans ..He is a serious minded musician who has treated his music seriously and kept on being creative No Matter What
He's just as lovely as he ever was back in 1971! Keep going Gilbert/Ray, but keep close to the Source, too. Continue being true to yourself. God bless you, Gilbert and thank you for the music over the many years; music which has accompanied me on my way.
Fabulous to see this. Have loved Gilbert and his very fine songwriting since the early days. Saw him in concert some years ago in London (Lewisham indeed) - and hope so much to see him again some time. Wonderful.

Saw him at Wavendon Stables a few years ago, and he didn't disappoint. His pipes were extremely strong, the band were tight as a gnat's chuff, it was a superb show!

Great to see Mr. O' Sullivan prospering. Anybody who can make a song about suicide catchy A.F., & place it in the top ten, & make it one of the most memorable songs of the 1970's, is alright by me.
