Who remembers the little plaza in Orangewood Ave and Mountain View Ave? I have so many crazy stories from growing up here in the early 2000s drive by shooting happening fights robberies but I wouldn’t change a thing growing up in Anaheim.
I remember the movie rental store there now’s it’s the parking lot do the school I also remember the crazy handball courts and basketball courts and the big grass field also the most famous stairs where the skaters use to skate before there was even a skatepark
There was a liquor store owned by Koreans and they had a son in law that Caucasian was shot in the head by a gang member. We used to go there and play street fighter 2 before going to school.
Early 1990's I remember staying at a hotel in Anaheim as a 12 year old. We were a family from Australia, first time visiting the U.S. We walked to the local corner store just on nightfall to get snacks. We were warned not to, but went. Told it was unsafe to do so. We were ultimately okay, but I remember feeling scared, hearing what I thought were gunshots and lot's of sirens. I wish I remembered exactly where we stayed. Interesting what stays with you.

It's 2023 dawg we aren't in the 90's anymore where everyone was obvious out and about, now a days the police can arrest you for being in a group you'd get labeled with gang activity on the spot. Most hoods don't hang like they used to. But trust me they're around scoping peeps out.

Man like 10 years ago it was hella bad mostly cause of glass getting around hella hard…and it was CLEAN aka more room to get spun for days and man they’d get locced I just straight up stopped walking anywhere after dark. One time, Some banger heard me doing keys in my backyard right there on the corner, asked for a bump and I gave it to him through the fence between the posts bruh 😂 it was horrendous but funny af. Where it got sad was one kid at like 2 am in my alley , he stands by the wall and waits for me to get out of my car. He was small and I could tell something was off most of the guys mobbing back then had their face covered up and he had nothing. He asks me if I had bud cause he’s coming down from shit. That broke my heart ong. He looked 13-15. And he was hurting so bad he couldn’t help but ask someone for help. Hope he’s doing better or at least learned his limits. Dudes getting arrested in our back yard multiple times, one time leading to cops pointing guns at me and my fam from outside through the windows, getting checked on Mountain View in broad day light cause they don’t care if the sun is up or down aoparently💀 but the scariest one was bumping into someone hiding from his killers (/also broaddaylight). Slowl walk up and I asked him like yo what’s going on and I swear he started having a panic attack and then felt relieved when he saw it was me. He said some guys are trying to kill him and I believed him from the way he got startled by me. He could barely talk from all the heavy breathing and adrenaline.
