Oh man, my area to shine.
I probably have over 1000 hours in Pokemon Blue, with most of the hours from casual playthroughs throughout my childhood, and the rest from the hundreds of speedruns I've done in Any% No Save Corruption. I will admit my bias; I absolutely love this game/generation. I agree with your point- for the time, this game with its pacing, its mechanics; it was just such a ride. The only thing I'm gonna nitpick from your video is 4:35-4:50. While I agree with the overall message of what you're saying, I feel like there is a huge asterisk here.
If you commit to mostly using one Pokemon, you will be at an acceptable level for whatever trainer battles / upcoming Gym Leaders you'll face. But in GEN 1, if you switch around Pokemon a lot, or try to evenly level up your Pokemon through trainer battles alone, it's very easy to suddenly be behind when it comes to progression trainer battles (Rival, Rocket, Gym Leaders, etc). I feel like for most casual players, you probably won't run into an issue at all; most people generally stick with starter unless they find a Pokemon through the wild that they become fixated on, but I just wanted to voice that it is very easy to become "behind" in exp in this generation, and you can be very punished for it early on, and forced to grind if you're not careful. But then again, if it's your first playthrough, you probably won't even see it as a grind, as much as just exploring!
I love the little details you touched up on, such as Hyper Beam being absolutely broken in GEN I. Also how bug / ghost / psychic were so memey in this generation. You also briefly brought up MissingNO-- fun fact: Nintendo has had a webpage up for years that serves as an FAQ for a few of their games and some notorious glitches/bugs in them. Its a neat little relic you can see of Nintendo when they acknowledged MissingNOs existence, as well as how to deal with it. You can check it out here if you're interested:

Overall I am so happy you made a video about this game. I don't know if you've played, but I'd love to see your review/take on Pokemon Stadium 1!

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't get to play stadium, but as someone who is unfamiliar, it just seems like showdown before showdown.

Im a bit late to the party but this was your best work yet my man. Not mentioning the ~iffy~ sprites is a bit of a disservice. Its crazy to see how much work Yellow, the anime and Gen 2 had to do to clean up some really weird design choices and make these 151 the icons they remain. I loved your points about how seamless it is to beat a pokemon game compared to most RPGs, and that self discovery bit made me totally relive my first pokemon game where i had a big ol sheet with all the pokemon's types on it and what they were good against. This whole vid was the worlds best nostalgia trip

I see the sprites more as a quirk of the game, I don't think the game suffers for it. They are regardless, very funny.
