Only problem with it is the n63 instead of the s63. Bar that it's perfect. D5 for me tho. Loads of torque for any road and then some, massive range, still drifts and is fun, all the luxury and much more reliable lump.
No OPF, what a car. I always preferred Alpinas to M-cars

Congrats, guys, this is really the best review on the web currently on Alpina.
May I add 4 thoughts:
1.) exclusivity: compare the less than 1.000 built to the hyped 911 speedster (priced at ~275.000$/€) which will have a total of 1.948 cars mainly sitting around in collectors garages, waiting for appreciation. Alpina produces only around 1.500 cars (and that's all their models, B4, B6, B7 etc.) per year, that's it. And their pricing is reasonable.
2.) leather interior: the Alpina-only "Lavalina" leather is a step up from the already great Merino leather that "BMW Individual" sells as their top of the line.
3.) The wheels: unfortunately, they now slightly changed their wheels from the genius "center-valve" design. That concept was just a stunning example of meticulous German engineering ("wait, how can we avoid those centrifugal forces of that valve at 320 kp/h - hmmm, how about we do this and make a hollow spoke") and a great conversation piece.
4.) aren't you glad you live right next to the German autobahn?😉 Go, 🇳🇱

They really are. Supercars are built for racetracks and curvy roads and are not too comfortable at high speeds (noise etc) and the owners have to pay for fuel.
Meanwhile all those 540d‘s are driven by business people at constant 250kmh because they don’t have to pay for fuel themselves... 🤷🏻♂️
Most used Alpina in Germany have 200k+ Kilometers. They really are Autobahn cruisers for those who love going 250+ on the Autobahn while having a comfy instead of a harsh M Power experience
this is by far the best bmw you can buy right now..... also love they made touring version. alpina always knows how to make a great car

Alpina. Hooray! Everyone has an opinion - mine is that this is one of the most complete cars available. Alpina work "hand in glove" with BMW, I believe the only company to work in this way. And the philosophy of the company is fantastic. If you look at the Alpina web site, you can see a car "configurator" on there and get an idea what a fully specified car will cost. A lot of money, but you get a lot of car. Love it.
Martin Berry i specced this in full spec form and it’s just a few thousand euros more expensive than a fully specced F90 M5

Great Video, thanks for that. I drive a 540d Touring which is already a really fun engine, but this Alpina is a beast. Finally a M5 like car as a G31 Touring Model.
Wishing you do an Alpina D5S and check its suitability for everyday use with an ocassional joyride moments
What I like most about the Alpina B7 (USA version) is the 750i designation which extends rear seat leg room so more than short people with short leg can sit comfortably in the back over long stretches of interstate highway. It is a beautiful automobile, especially in Alpina green metallic and 21" tires.

You gotta get your hands on the Alpina B7 Max! I know you are a 7 series kind of guy at heart so it is a natural fit for you my friend!
The dad of one of my close friends has the 2029 B5 biturbo. He ordered it in the most discreet color he could get, without any stickers nor the model name at the back. Class and elegance is all about simplicity :)

I used to own an e34 M5 touring that had alpina wheels and front splitter.
Loved that car.
Although registered in the UK I drove it when I lived in NL.
Miss that car and I miss NL 😢

I wish to take my 2017 BMW Alpina B7 to German autobahn! I love the vehicle! In Ontario Canada the maximum highway speed limit is 100 km/h!

Why BMW cant do things like this? you look so confident speaking when driving at 300km/hr 👍 and should have automatic flash light for anyone who is in front of you

@@janprokopenko7928 Unfortunately the M5 is limited to only 155 mph (260 km) and has less horse power & torque then this Alpina B5 but on the plus side the M5 is much more affordable and easier to find for sale then an ultra rare Alpina B5 so the M5 still wins !
@@BITTYBOY121 Well you can have competition packet with 625 HP, still less torque i think(750nm?). You can also have package for higher top speed (305kmh).

Awesome test! I was genuinely in the market for a M550i / M5 comp.. until I saw this test.. the fact you can get a Touring.. nice V8 sound.. which is not present in the M5 comp LCI, and have retain the same status of an M5, makes it a very compelling choice! I was leaning towards the M550i because of the lack of a nice exhaust note in the M5, but struggle with the image of the M550i vs the more esteemed M5. The Alpina gives you the best of both worlds and add a level sophistication and individuality which the M5 can’t match.. in short.. the Alpina B5 is a no brainer!

Somehow i would choose M5 F90, i know Alpina have to show a different but, shows the power only on the top speed, not much else, and M5 it's just more agressive, and that's what i expect of the M cars from BMW family... Always perfect POV Rev Max thank you!

I wish Alpina would make a B2 Biturbo. A faster M2 Competition with the beautiful Alpina interior and some more comfortable settings.

@@zemekiel The M2 is a bare bones, relatively hard core sports car. It doesn't fit at all with Alpina's philosophy. Want a comfortable, fast M2? Get an M240i and put a tune on it.

When I was 16 my uncle died and because I was the only one who gave a damn about him he gave me his estate. In it was an e65 Alpina b7 white and an e60 alpina b5. It’s locked in a garage in America but the ride was to die for

Not a big fan of the new Alpina wheels... I like the previous version with the valve stem in one of the spokes and the locking cover plate. It just seemed classier and I really like the trick valve stem.
Alpina is so very nice. I love it
With all the gesturing at the end, you could have just used the semi-autonomous driving, provided that this one even has it, not sure if Alpina deactivated it maybe.

motortrend youtube channel has a video of JASON CAMMISA comparing the alpina B6 vs bmw m6 and he sums up everything with those cars. The alpina is the fast car for the road and bmw m is the version of the same car for track because on the road is not that good

A head-mounted camera with a wide lens distorts the proportions of the car. Maybe you should use a different camera... cheers (otherwise the car is of course awesome)

A powerful wagon with a manual gearbox suits my character very well.
@@Lucas-ck1po Get a manual CTS-V wagon then. This is first and foremost a luxury car, not a sports car. There is a reason why BMW doesn't even offer a manual what so ever in any new 5-series. If that made any kind of sense or if they had people who actually wanted to buy a manual 5-series, of course they would offer you that. But it just doesn't make any sense.
I think it's probably because the new BMW/Alpina 8 speed auto gearbox can change gear much faster than any manual gearbox BMW has.

Nice sound , very similar to M5 CP F90 in my opinion. Car may be more 'civilised'. Own the M5 , have not driven this Alpina though.

Great review but a lot of misinformation about the details like about the bumpers, the seats, the steering wheel, the paddles (which alpina NEVER has as an option.. it is always with the buttons),..
