Andy Vernon is listed as 5'11" and 163 lbs. That's heavy for a distance runner. He was born January 7, 1986. Wilson Kipsang, a former record holder in the marathon, is 6' and around 139 lbs.
Surely he was way too heavy for a distance runner. If he’d have lost 5-10kg he would have been insanely fast. His VO2 Max would be up over 10% on the higher end of that weight loss scale.
There is nothing crazy about this race: neither the outcome (world champion wins..) nor the way it was run. These guys run way faster than nearly all of us, but there are many more races to watch on RUclips that were really crazy in outcome or racing strategy. Bad title, likely just for advertisers…
Vernon’s build reminds me of a very good Commando Engineer runner I used to race against in the UK Forces X-Country in Germany.

Veron weighs nearly 160lb and has a 13:11 5,000m PR! The dude has a motor!
6:20 so relatable
Yes, the light weight of the body contributes to the improvement in running speed.
Not speed. Endurance.

All the runner videos are clickbait and fkn annoying....😂😂🏃🏻♂️
Why are you still measuring in miles and minutes per miles? Everything else is metric.
