Today I'm working on a collage with an image from a magazine. Do you have access to magazines to cut out images? This is prompt 4 of 50, where I take a single prompt and create a collage with it.
Instead of a gluebook, I'm using index cards as the base of my collages. You can use whatever you would like.
If you are a beginner to collage, this is a great project for you. Take a look at the list of prompts and start looking for papers that you can use for assembling collage. Grab your supplies and work along with me.

🔴 I'm Margarete Miller. I'm a collage artist who loves to use vintage papers and vintage themes in my art. I also love all things postal, including lots of postage stamps in my art. - Хобби
I appreciate that you go through your thinking process in real time. I find that I am often times agreeing with your choices and that's helping me to learn. I didn't really find the background noise distracting. I am enjoying the series very much.
Thank you for your kind comments! I had the fan on because it’s like an oven in my space if I don’t turn it on. I’ll have to see about a better microphone. 💙
"I think I should stop", and she quickly adds to her pile 😂
Great work as always. TFS!
Sometimes it’s hard to stop, isn’t it? 😁❣️👍🏼
Loved this, the copper hinge was the right decision 🥰🌷❤️🌺
I love this so much! I am really enjoying following along!
I lovve those metallic hinges! I used to follow Cathe Holden when she had just a blog and a website, when she didn’t have the barn studio done etc. she’s so talented and it’s good to see her name now all over the place.
I followed her for years, too. She's great!! Thanks for stopping by 💜
Decisions Decisions😂The hinge is lovely
Thanks! That was a tough one! 😉
I have to use captions. So no distractions for me. I wear hearing aids, but still prefer captions. I am such a fan of Margarite's collages. I learn something new everytime. The copper hinge is perfect. Love it.🖌🎨 I'm going to take a look at megjournals . Sounds interesting. Hugs 💖
I need to do better at getting the captions corrected. The auto captions are not right.
Margarete: nice job collaging. I use magazine pictures almost exclusively. Once in a while I use other elements, but I love cut-outs from magazines. It depends on what I’m doing. Also, I do from busy to brief collages. I have always loved discovering unusual things in collages. Being an interior designer, I see things differently and it always shows up in my collages. And of course, I love fussy cutting.
I love to see how everyone collages, you have a fantastic style. That book you just showed was outstanding. I think I need to have another look at it.

Thanks so much, Carol!
A couple of people are asking, so here is the link to how I made the blue junk journal: ruclips.net/video/upfgpLvm4VI/видео.html
This are so fun 🥰 and i love that it is so tiny cards 🙏👏 your new tatoo is looking great 😍 lots of love from Arctic Norway 🥰🍀🌼🌸
Thank you, Lena 🌷😘🌸
Well I for one like your videos very much. So interesting to watch the process that you go through to create a collage. I'm looking forward to doing mine. I use magazine pictures in my journal making all the time and my glue books so the hardest part for me will be to decide on what to use. I will try to start putting my Creations on Instagram next week
Great, Judie! I’m so glad you are jumping in and will be creating 💜
I love your collages! Tfs
Thank you so much! 💙
I love these videos ❤
I’m so glad! Thank you 💜
Love it ❤
Thanks! 😉
I’m a new subbie although I realized I had watched and loved your videos previously but somehow had forgotten given the amount of content on YT these days. This time around, I’m addicted to your videos lol. Not a single video yours should be missed. Your collages are so wonderfully cohesive. I truly love seeing your selection and trial process. I have lots of magazine images but struggle to use them unless they’re birds or botanicals. Seeing your journal made of mostly magazine cut outs floored me! Is that made from a book where you glued pages together and then collaged? Would you PLEASE PLEASE consider a tutorial on how to get started? I could go on but you get the idea, love your projects 100%!! I’m still working full time and not enough time to craft. When I do, I’m honestly a bit overwhelmed as to which one to work on given the number of videos I’ve saved. Sorry for the long rant but just too excited watching your work. 💛
Thanks so much for your comments! I'm so glad you are excited about junk journaling. Here is a video I made about how I assembled that big blue junk journal: ruclips.net/video/upfgpLvm4VI/видео.html This might be helpful to you, to see how I assembled it and where I got my papers from. Have fun! 🤩
Nice collage!! I was rooting for the copper hinge! 😂
Oh good! Great minds think alike 😉❣️👍🏻
@@MargareteMiller they absolutely do 🥰
A colorful image...superb editing...beautiful result!! Love the hinge!! 🩷💚💙
Oh good! A vote for the hinge 🌟😉💜
I love, love your videos. They are my favorites, and I am always happy to see them pop up. But the fan humming in the background is very distracting. ❤❤❤❤
I’m learning a lot from this new series on collaging. You are the master!
Thanks for letting me know, Debra. I really tried to go without the fan, but it was sooooo hot in my studio that I was melting without it. For the next few videos I’ll have it on, I’m sorry to say. It’s the only way I can record 🙃
Now I understand. No worries, at all. I’m just happy you’re making videos for me to watch. ❤️
There was a fan? I was by the stove boiling potatoes so did not even notice. You do have a talent for placement. Just wondering who your art influences might be if any? Loving this series as a newby, thanks so much.
So glad you didn’t notice 😉. My influence was Mary Green. I wrote a blog post about her. Google my name with her name and you’ll see it. I included pictures of her work.
Wow! Great journal. I sent for the Restoration Hdwe catalog. Can't wait to get it.
They do a great job with their catalog. So many pretty pictures.
I love your magazine pages journal! What size is it? I have tons of magazines and catalogs around. I have some oversize planners, etc.
from B&N bargain tables but haven't decided what to put in them. 😊
I tear out the pages from catalogs and then use them mixed in with other papers for a journal.
❤❤❤
What size are the index cards? Love your channel.
Thanks so much! They are 3 x 5"
