31:12. "I'm a gambler. I take a lot of chances." Says the guy who folded AJ, 7-7, 10-10, and AQ.

Who folds pocket 10s on the button with like 5 players left and you have like 30bbs.
Geez. Poker has come a long way.

People were much more passive back then…to be aggressive or see more flops was seen as something very rare…which is what people like Gus Hansen were and why he won so many tournaments Aside from that, these blinds were so outrageously high compared to the chip stacks a single bet might cost half or more of a chip stack

Wow, those folds guys were making to Antonio's short-stack raises are downright comical by today's standards. AJ/A10/1010 when Antonio was sitting on a 7-10bb stack each hand. WOW, I wish I could have been from a slightly earlier era where I could have gotten into poker before the poker boom. Hell, this isn't even before the start of the boom is it? I'm assuming this is '03-'04?

This was the first season, so there hadn't much televised poker before this tournament was held. Moneymaker won the 2003 WSOP main event so I think you can call this pre-boom.

I say this all the time. I definitely never wish to be older than I am, but if only I'd been born 10 years earlier than I was. Nowadays you can sometimes find 2/5 and 5/10 cash games that are tougher than what a lot of these high stakes tournament fields were 15-20 years ago.

Jons LG Yeah, I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. All those times Antonio was jamming less than 10bb at the beginning, the hands those guys were folding was insane. Plus throughout the final table we see multiple times players open folding Ax from the cutoff/button in a 4-6 handed game. Times sure have changed, and it's no wonder that anyone who as simply willing to be even somewhat aggressive on a regular basis was having big success in the tournament scene back then. It's not like we're watching a live steam from some donkament at a local card room either, this is the friggin WPT.

how the HELL could that guy give up an A Q when Antonio was all in?? He's gone all in many times before that with surely less of a hand. What did he think antonio had?? KK?? AA?? AK?!?!? that would have been the only better hands IMO the way these guys play...But I have a book by Antonio and he really is a magician

***** You are so right. This is why I don't bother to watch WPT shows on actual television anymore and very rarely even on RUclips. Too much filler and not enough poker playing shown. It makes me wonder what the producers of WPT shows think the audience tunes in for. All that "Poker Corner" and "Poker Cemetary" bullshit? I want to see hands played. EPT shows are just as bad. In fact, all the poker shows suck for this reason except. High Stakes and PAD. Two shows that should never be off the air.

TheiGaza You must have very bad hearing or a lousy short term memory. Mike Sexton commented that Esfandiari won another pot without having the best hand once again. And Sexton was right. Esfandiari had pocket 6's... but, and here is where either your powers of observation have failed you horribly or you are just a huge idiot (I suspect the latter, myself), Tommy Garza folded pocket 10's. Which in this universe is still a much better hand than two 6's. Yes?
