M. Ciccolini plays Satie so ... unbelievably wonderfully. Thank you for this upload. Just wanted to add more thanks for the terrific gallery of portraits.
cette musique accompagnant mes pensées ; pour ma ptite chamane ; sa maman qui s en est allée...douceur pudeur toute la tendresse; profondément cette belle lumière.
WHAT A COMBO! gorgeous, melancholy music, and these portraits. When a college student, would stare out window when students disappeared for weekend or spring break and listen to Blood Sweat and Tears 'Variations on a theme of Eric Satie' and ponder life's meaning. BS&T lead me to Satie and Satie to Aldo. Miss you already, great one. You WERE Satie ... pour moi, mon vieu ami.
I remember my delight when Ciccolini's collected recording of Satie music came out on compact disc. After so many scratched or static vinyl copies, it was wonderful to hear them so cleanly
Thank you for this lovely collection of the Gymnopedies! I played them as a young teen and have always loved them, never played them nearly as well as Aldo Ciccolini though! Your selection of photos and paintings is a delightful and fascinating glimpse of the composer. I don't suppose you know who painted the one of a young Satie at the piano, do you?
@Lucycat9200 I don't know off the top of my head, but I will see if I can find it. I do still have the painting on file if you would like a copy. You'd just need to send me your email in a private message (so no one else sees your email) and I'd be glad to share it with you. Thank you for your kind remarks! Best, Billy
One of the very best recordings of all time.
Indeed
Thank you! I was looking for Ciccolini 💙

You are most welcome! Thank you for the comment and your appreciation!
God bless and Merry Christmas!
I like this version, thank you. He was a very famous pianist, by the way.
i can listen for hours. it is a dream
Ciccolini was one of my favorite pianists, he was sublime, thank you for sharing Satie's Gymnopédies 👍👍👍👍

+Mariette Chabaud ..... and extremely beautiful.
para muchos, Ciccolini ha sido el mejor intérprete de Satie.
I agree

@Lucycat9200 The painter was Santiago Rusinol and he also painted the picture of Satie at the firelplace...
Thank you again for kind remarks!
It is a hopeless soul who disliked this...
Beauty expressed simply:-)
Frank Glazer e Cicconili pra mim são os melhores interpretes de Satie.
I'm lucky to have all volumes of Aldo Ciccolini playing Satie... Used to have the Reinbert de Leeuw versions too... I prefer Ciccolini to be honest.
Agreed . . .

I think Aldo Ciccolini is to Satie what Daneil Barenboim is to Beethoven, both pianists bring out the very best in the compositions
Can anyone point me to posting of Ciccolini performing any of Satie's Gnossiennes?
They're all on RUclips - you just need to type in the relevant words
Gymno I guess means nude.
