- Today I'm finally showing you guys how to make your very own car freshie (air freshener) vent clips for your car!! I've been asked for this tutorial for awhile so knew when I got some new mini cookie cutters and a small silicone mold, I had to show y'all! Since I've seen so many different variations of how people make these and attach the vent clip, I thought it'd be good idea to do a little on-camera experiment with you guys and show you the most popular ways that I see others using. So I baked some clips in with the freshies, I attached some afterwards, and I even tried using hot glue & super glue. So if you're curious to see what the best way to make these is (in my opinion of course), then look no further!

After taking them out and setting the clips while still hot you could push them down like normal then follow with the hot glue like was done in this video. That should double secure it in place I'm thinking.
I recently bought a Freshie supply stash from someone local who decided to stop making/selling them. One of the items was vent clips. I've made 2 so far as tests. I 1st baked the shape (just under 10 minutes), then pressed the vent clip in (not all the way down & the freshie shouldn't be really thin) & moved some beads inside and around the bottom of the clip. Put them back in the oven for a couple minutes. I also placed a small piece of parchment paper between the clip ends to prevent them from melting together. I dabble in high heat crafts and know that parchment or butcher paper withstand heat really well (unwaxed paper is made for baking). The 2 freshies I've made so far are holding up quite well. Personally, I wouldn't buy a freshie with a clip glued on top as it looks like an afterthought. Currently, working on a "test" for local family & friends.
I love vent clips, and I’ve had good luck with baking them in. I always put a piece of foil between them so they don’t melt together.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I didn't think about foil!!! I have used parchment paper......
Can u explain how u put the foil I’m kinda confused
@@pearlsoto5453 I just fold up a small piece of foil and put it in between the clip to separate them so they don’t melt together.
use clothes pins to secure the depth in the freshie and allow it to rest on the edges of the cookie cutter without touching the beads and it will keep the clips from showing on the front side... just a thought!
Thanks for the heads up. Lol. I was definitely about to crazy glue mine lol
Another thing about hot glue is it does soften in heat - and cars heat up fast in the summer sun - so even if not using heat it can heat up and separate from the clip when your not even in the car.
this is very helpful, thank you.
Thanks for the info ♥️
Thanks for watching! 🥰
E6000 works great! I have been attaching clips with E6000 for a little while now, holds stronger than pushing in after the bake.
I’ve tried e6000 and resin both for my vent clips and neither holds very well. 😑 I’m still new to vent freshies so I’m wondering if my e6000 was ‘old’ lol.
Thank you for this tutorial when I tried the vent clicks only one was able to clamp on the vent because it was a small shap.i put my clips in before baking. I will put the clips on after coming out of the oven next time.
You're welcome! Yes, they are definitely a little tricky!
I you ever sold freshies at farmers markets or flea markets? If so how long does the freshies scent stay strong packaged up? I'm considering doing the flea market maybe farmers market.
I like using magnets with vent clips That way you can turn the freshie any way you want. I also use E6000.
Oooh! That's a great idea! Didn't even think about that! Thanks!
Brandi, do you have a specific magnet you use? Could you drop a link? That is a great idea!!
You're so amazing
Aw thank you, you're so sweet!!!!
What size clips did you use ? I am trying to find some on Amazon and there are different sizes and it also shows the make and model of vehicle to use on. Not sure if it matters - but want to see what you used
Have you used the hobby lobby aroma beads?
I live in South Louisiana. Do you find that in the heat of the summer no matter what you do they melt anyway? I may just make the hanging ones....
Omgoodness, So you can used cake baking silicone?
Does adding paint to your fresher dull or hide the fragrance?
Thank you do much for sharing your knowledge. Do you have a link for your mold? It looks like the right size
Thanks for watching! & no, I got them both at Joanns though 😁
What packaging do you use for vent clips? 😊
Would E6000 work for gluing?
Super glue reacts to oil so it won’t dry with the oil scents in the beads
How do these do with mailing?
Love the video! What kind of paint did u use?
Just regular puffy paint
@@CreativelyErica ok, thank you! 😊
What about using UV resin after they cool when you push the clip in when you take them out of the oven?
That might work 🤔🤗
It doesn’t work. I’ve tried it.
I put my clip in as soon as they come out of the oven and then push a few of the melted beads into the inside of the head of the clip for extra assurance and they don't wiggle at all 🙂
Great idea! Thanks!
Maybe soak some bamboo sticks and put them into the clip across the top. It will may keep them secure.
That's a great idea!!
Hi, I don't have oven... Can i use oven toaster? Thanks for the reply ☺️☺️☺️
I would watch the silicone so close to the heat. But they do tumblers and such in a toaster oven
Does it make a difference if you use a gas oven compared to an electric oven? I would assume they melt faster in a gas oven?
I'm not sure honestly, as I've never tried a game oven. But I would assume you're probably right, they'd bake faster.
I have found the hot glue does not hold them on very well.
What about E6000?
Oooh! I'll have to try that! Thanks! 😊
The super glue didn't work because of the essential oils. The oil keeps the glue from setting.
Do you have any idea of why they would have sent little screws with the vent clips? I can't for the life of me understand what to do with these.
Usually you’d screw from the clip to the freshie but that can come undone and pull out but with other freshness like fabric ones or metal backed they’d stay in.
I have heard people doing 12oz of beads to 3oz of fragrance. Is that too much?
Nope, not too much. I do 1 oz to every 4 oz of beads so that's perfect.
Do you use the oven you cook meals for your family in for melting beads in, too? Is that a stupid question? 😂
Yep, same oven 😅 not a stupid question at all, I get asked all the time lol
@@CreativelyErica I was hoping so, but you can’t be too careful. I’m enjoying your channel tremendously. I appreciate how open you are to sharing the details behind the scene. I’m planning to make freshies for myself and family members for fun, and perhaps to give again for the holidays. I don’t think I’d even feel capable without your guidance. Thank you.
Aw, thank you so much!! 🥰 Love helping y'all out! 💕
My mom watched this and now she won't stop talking about it please delete this
