That's from the concert dvd "The Dance" recoeded in 1997. You MUST do Silver Springs from this same concert. You MUST! The song was written by Stevie Nicks during/after her breakup from the guitarest Lindsey Buckingham in 1976 or so. The inter-action between the two on the stage during that performance is priceless!

RIP Christine McVie. To me, she was the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac. She wasn’t a DIVA, drama Queen and attention grabber like Stevie was. Her voice was better than Stevie’s and she was quite the prolific songwriter too. Broke my heart when I found out that she died.

The two lead singers' (Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham) relationship was falling apart when Stevie wrote the lyrics to this. It's why she's looking at him so often while singing this.

I thought this was his song about the break up. She would always say we will not break the group up. She countered with dreams and silver springs. There's a live concert where he is literally staring at her while screaming the lyrics.

For this concert Lindsay changed up the acoustic guitar arrangement a little from the original Rumors album. There's also a 1982 older live version of The Chain on RUclips and you can definitely hear venom when the line Damn your love, Damn your lies is sung.

Great performance, the entire "The Dance" concert is insanely good. Oh and this was a reunion show for them, they had more or less broken up for years before this show. Stevie was doing her own thing as was Lindsey Buckingham. All the people at this show were.....well I'll just say it, when the news dropped that they would be getting back together it was HUGE news and EVERYONE wanted to go see it. The tickets were selling for insane prices, and the people with money whether they were huge fans or not were the ones who got the tickets. I think it's fairly safe to assume a lot of the people there weren't exactly rabid fans of Fleetwood Mac, it was more of a prestige thing to be seen there.

The whole album is fantastic, and when it was being recorded, Stevie and Lindsey were ending a long term relationship, Christine McVie, keyboards, and her husband John, bass guitarist, were getting a divorce, and Mick Fleetwood, the drummer, was also getting divorced. It’s a miracle the album even got recorded, but Fleetwood Mac always did their best work when they were fighting each other.

There are some venues that are typically more intimate, no standing room, etc. that will not let you stand up because it blocks the view of others. We have a local venue at a university that has orchestral performances with great acoustics and 100% plush seating, elevated rows, balconies, etc. with no obstructed views. It was very strange seeing ZZ Top there for instance with no one standing. One lady started dancing and the ushers came over and told to her to sit immediately or leave.

Wrong. Lindsey wrote the verse lyrics and verse music. Christine wrote the chorus music. Stevie had some lyrics from another song that Lindsey asked to use for the chorus. Lindsey, Christine, John and Mick wrote the outro. Lindsey took all the bits and pieces and moulded them into one coehsive piece. It wasn’t written after they broke up, but was written over the course of twelve months or so.

Mick and Sara were divorcing as well. Supposedly Stevie & Sara were BFFs. But not after Mick's activities w/ Stevie I'm guessing. So 3 miserable couples. And 2/3 couples have to make an album together. The record producers published a book too.

You are correct. This was being filmed for a DVD with multiple cameras all over the place so when you bought your ticket, you were told you had to stay seated and be relatively quiet! This concert, called "The Dance" is some of the best live performances of the band. A lot of the old stuff they were either exhausted from touring, or on drugs or both... So the performances were less than top notch in old videos. They were married, lovers etc with each other and often wrote songs about the drama from cheating or stepping out. This song reflects that and you probably saw the tension between Lindsey (guitarist) and Stevie (blonde singer in the middle). Two songs you must watch back to back are this one, Lindsey wrote about Stevie stepping out:
ruclips.net/video/W6G5e65YdwA/видео.html (Fleetwood Mac - The Dance - 1997 - Go Your Own Way)
And then Stevie wrote one from her perspective - and this performance will give you serious chills:
