Hearing jerma talking about just talking to himself really hits home. For me it is a method of letting off steam and working through thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head. When I stream I will end up carrying on a conversation when no-one is there. It's something I picked up back when I first tried recording videos of my TV while I played games. It's also one of those cases that growing up legit no-one wanted to talk to me, so I found the only method of talking to someone is to essentially force my way in. Start talking about something that interests me and force them to realize that me and them aren't so different. In all honesty talking to one's self is no different than writing or typing, we understand the symbols as essentially a voice and engage in a dialogue with ourselves. Man the way he goes "aw no, you're not competing with me, you're content is just as important" (paraphrased) when the guy said he stopped his stream so his viewers could go see artistic history happening with the carnival stream is great. Jerma really seems like a humble guy
I still find it miraculous to this day on how Jerma was able to break away from that "tf2ber" guy stereotype. Usually, the community really hates it when a specific content creator stops making content for this specific game.
The transition is an amazing one to analyze. Even during his TF2ber days he would make the occasional non-TF2 video, and even many of his TF2 videos were about him goofing off or getting mad or whatever. Then he made more and more goofy non-TF2 videos, until eventually he switched over from TF2, played Overwatch for a while, and then went full-on goofy comedic streamer. I've loved all of the content he's made, but what I especially find endearing is that he plays an incredibly diverse variety of games, not just modern games (which is okay too) but also many old games including some that I grew up with. I think that's why it's so easy for so many members of his audience to grow with him instead of outgrow him like was the case for many other game-youtubers. Guys like Vanoss and Seananners were amusing when I was a teenager, but eventually I got older while their content stayed the same and suddenly it all felt repetitive and immature to me. Funhaus and Game Grumps were/are all right, but Jerma has been the only gamer/streamer/'tuber so far that I have consistently and regularly watched since my teens, just like Tyler, and I still plan on watching for hopefully many years to come. He's also the only streamer I've ever given substantial amounts of money to -- one of the first things I did when I got my first job during college was to buy lots of subs for other Jerma fans. I don't know why I'm listening to this a second time. I just really like Tyler and Jerma. The vibe here is great. I don't know if it would make sense for either of these guys to do anything else together, but I'd be here for it.
I don't know if it's correlated but in Jerma's Robo-Chibi stream (I think "ruining a marriage" highlight video shows the moment) Jerma displays his power over chat by putting it to emote and sub only mode. After which, he says "remember who's in charge here" to which someone in chat responded "who pays your bills here though?" Jeremy then says he's actually been a waiter for years and makes 30% tip from every customer. Maybe someone thought it'd be funny to keep that joke and continue it on the wiki?
