    Only my humble opinion but the biggest problem for most users is not taking the time to properly & realistically assess what their true knives needs are. Not just types of activities but frequency. How often do you really go camping? How often to you really do wood carving? etc ..... By not doing this you are almost guaranteeing that you will buy a knife that doesn't work out. (BTW I did buy a TOPS Operator 7 for no real reason ...) However, for those who don't know where to start this would be a great blade - after using it for a while you will quickly find out what you like and don't and inform you re. further knife purchases. Thanks for another great vid from the wild.

    I just use Hogue knives with a compromise depending on what I'm doing. Here's what a equip EX-F01 Fixed Blade: 5.5" Tanto Blade - Black Cerakote Finish, OD Green G10 Scales, which is currently sold out by the manufacturer, but I'm sure local or online stores will have them. I should point out I don't work for them, nor am I in the business of retailing anything.
    The other option I use is EX-F01 Fixed Blade: 5.5" Drop Point Blade - Black Cerakote Finish, G-Mascus Black G10 Scales, if a larger length of edge is required.
    It's a different price point at $230 ish dollars, but as I use them in the course of my work, overall if I can only spare the weight for one knife, I'll take either of these with me.

    Not sure why they don't make more knives this size. Five inches is about perfect. I like it.
    When they do make a five inch blade it's 2 inches thick.
    And 4.3 inches sucks.
    Good review.

    G'day Aaron, not bad at all;
    the handle jumped out immediately. I would prefer to do fiction fire separately though, but a nit pick.
    Has to be the highest sabre i've seen for a while, but @ 5 odd in. with the grind., still a serviceable battoner which is good.
    I've no experience with the steel. but on par with most 1095 can't be bad thing as long as it's maintained.
    All in all, a pretty good package that will do what's asked of a camp knife, and I reckon a bit more.
    Cheers Duke.

    Field Buddy is ARCHITECT……… like it says on the blade 😁
    Very cool concept for a video. This idea of carry-ability and use-ability is something I’ve been seeking for awhile now. I used to look for really specialized choppers and smaller knives but now I’m all about capable midsized knives. Those WT knives have some nice designs. Too bad they’re made in Asia. I really think that field buddy is my next buy.

    • @randyyeager
      @randyyeager 3 года назад

      lol, this isn't some new concept....people have been looking for a knife that does everything for a long time. One knife to rule them all. I feel the same way about "Made in Asia" knife when I think of made in the USA knives. "Too bad it's made in the USA". Mostly because I know they will charge way too much for what yer getting. As Asia is capable of making just as good of a knife as any other country including the USA.

    I’d be real happy with an American made Esee 6 without a choil…
    Dont like the 6HM.. tried real hard, too butt-heavy
    E5 is cool, but too thick.
    TKC 5.5 is getting there, but its kinda thin, although the 3v version keeps calling me.

    They make the perfect knife, both in performance design and in looks, yet they put the worst steel they could... I would keep saying it, the most underated and disrespected steel out there, is the most suitable steel, ofr outdoors knives, and that's ball bearing steel. They could have used that, instead of SK5... what a shame
