Just HAD to view this episode to see where it all began.
Major (retired) Rick Corbin in Davenport, IOWA
Mr. Corbin,
If you watch the current videos I do have that attire. I grew up in the woods behind the saw and never had nor heard of any of the sort. Most lumber men around didn’t either. But in view of the public eye I have done so. Never had any mishaps in 50 years. Doesn’t mean I won’t tomorrow. But knowing how to use the saw makes a huge difference. Not justifying my position, just saying that’s the way I grew up and have operated.
I love the mountains. My Dad and Mom lived right out of Cherrokee NC for about 6 yrs. Dad would play music with the guys on the street at night. He passed away and my Mom also. I come up when I can. They sold our little place on Camp Creek Rd. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.
We certainly will keep making the videos
I just wanted say that this reminds me so much of my dad RL Smith USN deceased 2/4/18 from Spring Field MO who while during WWII, along with several young boys and young teens, drifted a raft of hard wood logs down the White river then the Mississippi to N'Orleans. And they hiked bummed rides etc. back. He taught my brothers and others and two more generations of Boy Scouts. Bless you for bringing those memories of hiking and camping in the Colorado Rockies. THe pine tar was a trick he taught us to be awarded the Order of Arrow. 👍🙏🙏
Been in the order of the arrow myself. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Welcome to the channel.
Why sir, God Bless you, I am very honored by this. I just showed my wife a portion of brush and cleaning up the future base camp. Well, she pointed north out back and said " what you going to do about that?" and gave me a big hug. She asked me to thank you too. She understands more about my dad and his teaching boys and young teens Survival skills. Two I know of are/were US Military. I well just Bless you.
Thanks for sharing your adventures, NC USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
Love how you keep everything organized! Fellow OCD. 😀
Having your goals in order really shows! Great fire side chat while steak was getting done! I always enjoyed having a steak while working on my property! There killing me with taxes now, may have to sell before long! No breaks for the working person! Love your channel

It's the best field to an outdoor!
Richard, you retired from Bell and then again as a Paramedic? I worked for a company owned by Bell Atlantic for 15 years, nice company.

Dogs on the outdoor grille cooked over fire is the BEST way.... mmm mmm GOOD!! Your property is excellent... you have all that you need there; timber, meadows, water and abundant wildlife.... just AWESOME!! Oh, and the Kubota is dang handy to have as well!! >> peace
Thanks my friend. Anything tastes better over the fire, lol.
Inspiring man. I appreciate the wisdom you share. And thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Why didn't you use it as firewood in winter? I wondered.
Only a suggestion, you should take them vines and you can form and shape them to make furniture such as chairs when they're all done drying you will have a sturdy chairs to sit on look it up on some utube videos.i liked your pic of your future site looks amazing keep it up and keep on a cooking, gotta go I'm hungry now.

Hej from Denmark. I just found your vidio's, and I love them you remind me of my dad, he was good with he's hands too. Think that you are doing a good job, and you are so lucky to have the chance to do what you like. Keep up the good job your doing. Keep the vidios coming 👍😉
Hi Tina,
Welcome to the channel. Thank you for the nice compliment.
Coming together really well, keep it up.
You should make your base camp hobbit style
Good start, question where is the basecamp located in reference to the sawmill, etc. miles from, compass headings, and it seems that it was started before this video (?).
👍 🤣 You were a pharaoh in your previous life, you always build pyramids when lighting a fire! 😃
👍 The steak is perfect "Pink in the Center" now all that's missing is some herb butter or fresh butter with a little salt for the ash potato! 👍 Enjoy your meal! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Seems like the fire always does better done in this fashion.
Good to see your daughter don't stand around with her hands in HER pocket !
No she doesn’t
Great video, great food! I am just wondering why you do not wear chain saw chaps for safety? Out in the bush alone they could save your life. Just curious that's all. God bless
I grew up in the woods long before they were available and they other safety gear. Lol, no reason just habit I suppose. As well, proper use of the saw, stance, arm position and cut types help to know what your doing in the woods. Your not just a man with a saw on a mission, lol
@@SmokyMountainOutpost thanks for answering, did not mean you did not know what you were doing, you can tell by your videos you are a man of knowledge. Stay safe and I will continue to binge watch your videos
The young girl seems like a good worker but the boy must be afraid of getting hurt if he picks up anything. Stay safe
Well of course. She is my daughter and I trained her, lol. She is a hard worker. Thanks for the comment and support.
Blessings from SMO
Your right.😉
Good job on the clearing. I hate bending over with a saw! I’ve got a trick for you that would make your life a lot easier. I have very similar brush that gets really thick with small trees and vines and sticker bushes. I got a very big Stihl weed eater, with bicycle handles and a backpack. I got a Chinese carbon tip blade off of eBay. It looks very similar to a circular saw blade. It cuts trees up to 6 inches like butter and the small stuff goes away really fast. The reason I like it is that I can get down to ground level. I will try to do a video today or tomorrow about it. I think it could save you lots of hours of work and of course your back wouldn’t hurt as much. I’m trying to make a lot of my land look like a park with keeping the big trees but thinning out the smaller stuff. If I work for about six or seven hours so I can clear almost a half an acre by hand.
I e had one of those in the past
How do you guys eat steak like that? I found that paramedic’s and fire/rescue up here all (well most all) like well-done steak?? I went to cook for one of the stations once, I hand-picked ribeye’s and every one of the guys said “well done”. We had a cook out at the base one night so I brought a rib eye about an inch & quarter thick and this other paramedic brought a minute steak about a half inch thick. He kept his meat on the grill as long as I did; I thought he was trying to resole his boot! He stated that’s the he has always eaten steak. tell me color is messed up on my computer.
i do like your show though!
Lol. I don’t get. Everyone likes their steak the way they like it. I eat mine medium or medium well. Can’t stomach it any other way. My daughter eats it uncooked, lol. I don’t really care. I just want to be able to eat it myself.
Please set a good safety example use chain saw chaps, hard hat plus eye and ear protection
Teach your younger viewers proper safety by setting the correct example
que video só faz fogueira na mais
The old man eat a lot of hotdog and onion. He will got constipation overthere without no water to wash, no soap, no napkin, no paper toilet, no toilet.
👍🏻
There is regulation of a law in Japan.
It's a bonfire in freedom.
I'd like to do!!
You need to improve your diet.
Channel Scramble????
Not Sure I Follow.
Using your chainsaw without safety chaps, hearing protection or safety glasses is bad.
Thanks Ronald for the comment. Welcome... I do wear eye protection sometimes. But, not always and would probably claim that that is how I grew up in the woods. Years of hauling wood and didn’t even know what chaps were. Never wore ear protection either in years of construction work. These are not excuses just habit. I have thought about the chaps, but can never remember to get them at the hardware.
too much cooking is boring
Could be. I try to do a little in most videos because the majority likes watching it. It’s hard to find a medium that all are pleased with. But I agree, if there is to much in the same video, then it would be a cooking show.
And I'm one that thinks it's about right you have to mix it up some. Keep on a cooking!!!!
