Listening to the description of Emmanuel’s play reminded me of DougE. Grimy. I’m excited for both of them to have breakout seasons. Damarius McGhee and Dylan Brooks too. A bit like Logan Brown this season. It would seem that it could really help future recruiting to be able to point to some high level recruits that didn’t get a chance elsewhere to be able to excel in this program.
Daniel was excused from being with the team for unspecified personal reasons for the last game or two. It doesn’t sound like anyone in the general public knows (or needs to know) what is happening with him. We probably won’t find out until players report in January whether he will be back unless he posts something on social media.
@@johnlee7085didn’t Lance say it was a family reason or maybe he just said personal reason? To lazy to look it up but it seems crazy to be the back up for 3 years wait your turn and then dip right as you become the main guy.
I’m recalling personal but wouldn’t be the first time I remembered wrong. I got the impression that it was something family related but don’t recall anything specific. It wouldn’t be the first time that a player left a school to be closer to family for whatever reason though some past examples seemed more like excuses than reasons. Definitely agree with you that DH seems ready for a good role. I could see one of the younger RBs maybe being more of a feature back because of a bit more explosiveness, but DH is certainly a great floor to start with. Wonder if Sevion moving indicates what he saw with them in practice even though the young RBs weren’t used. Always a bit surprised that SM wasn’t used more, especially when DH wasn’t available.
@ my guess for SM not being used more might have something to do with fans screaming for Grimes to feed Neal more. I imagine we will see a healthy dose of Leshon Williams and Highshaw in the backfield with Harry Stewart coming in as the change of pace back. Lance seems to lean more on experience then youth and potential.
CJ - You really think any of the coaches make game decisions based on the wisdom of fans? I don’t buy that for a minute. They will vaguely acknowledges fan opinions that are loud and when specifically asked in a presser, but I’m pretty certain they are confident enough in their coaching ability to make game decisions based on their knowledge or that of other staff. I would agree with you about Coach relying on older, more experienced players, though mostly because of a rather limited sample size. We have a 4 year data set with 30+ guys who just left the program (mostly). They were mostly the same guys that were here and starting 4 years ago when we were the youngest team in the nation. I imagine we will get a healthy dose of Daniel to start the year but wouldn’t count out Harry or Johnny Thompson in much the same way a few years ago that some younger players won the competition for minutes against more experienced portals.

Rock Chalk
Based on what are you saying that Hishaw will "probably" be back?
