As an American, this is all very strange to me, as we don't have royalty. It really seems like Harry and Meghan want to use their celebrity gained by association with the Royal family line, but to not have to honor the traditions of it.
If they really want what they say they want then they should drop all of the titles and try and make an honest living based on their value to American society. All the Royal family stuff is just a passing curiosity over here.

She was very anxious to join the Royal family. Now we know it was only so she could make vast sums from,her royal connections. As for lies about wanting privacy, she hasn't stopped trying to attract as much media attention as possible since she left. Princess Ann is an incredibly hardworking royal who is rarely in the limelight or press, but lives her life privately. It has never been about wanting privacy or she could have followed her example.
