This song was originally recorded but not released Royce & Eminem song. Jay asked if Em would do it with him. Eminem didn’t change his verses from original. 🔥
Jay Z was out of breath and didn't sound like the studio recording Eminem was top notch and he sounds exactly like the studio version Eminem is just in a league of his own
He drove by the fork in the road. The road is man made as all roads are. You see, in order to be considered a road at all a surface must be specifically prepared for vehicular accessibility. His decision to go off road was born out of a distrust for the systems in place. if you’ve ever seen slumdog millionaire the game show host writes an answer to the million dollar question on the Mirror. All signs that could be observed with the same d and ears would suggest that the host was an ally and that the answer on the Mirror was correct. The question was multiple choice and as most all multiple choice questions you could rule out a couple of answers fairly easily. The contestant had literally no clue what the right answer was. If he were to take a baseless guess then naturally he would have a 50/50 chance of being correct. He came to the conclusion that taking the answer opposite of what he was left would give him his best odds but the reason why is what is important here. He decided that he and the game show host were not on the same team even though it was evident that this is what they would have him believe. He assumed the probability that the gentleman would mislead him intentionally was higher than the probability that he would assist him and have a vested interest in his situation when it’s all said and done. The guess was 50|50 based on the odds of the question but he didn’t roll those dice he bet that the person lied to him. The answer was in fact on the mirror. It’s just how you interpret the signs. Roads lead to and from. The person who built the road and labeled the signs is not going to lead you to the end of the rainbow. If there were a pot of gold at the end of the road then the road would have never been built. The road as all roads are just a means of control. Roads have speed limits and consequences for deviating from the enforced standard. His paving of his own path nods to the idea that they wrote an answer on the Mirror for him too and he sees through it. He knows that any road leading to treasure isn’t paved. He won’t certainly end up where it is that he intends to go but he will certainly end up wherever his own decisions lead him. He’s not someone looking for answers. He’s someone creating them. You want to learn something you go to a library and look up where it’s at and go get it. When You want to discover something new you will not find that on the shelves. He’s not on a road that has been traveled before and if you were to try and recreate his path you may not end up where it is that he has ended up because he’s not following the signs he’s led by something else. Something intrinsically specific to him. This implies many things that I won’t ramble on about at the moment. Ultimately the point is that the only person who can truly be trusted to decide the path of my life is me because anything less is a forfeiture of the potential that I have to leave a mark on the world that is my own and not be used as a piece on another persons board.
Great video guys, i didn't know studios and labels were called "thugs" too, thats a bar I missed! This song is legendary and I think they both had verses that are very eloquent and philosophical. Jay-Z second verse is incredible. Check Yah Yah by Eminem if you can, it features Black Thought and Royce, two very lyrical rappers and they got very very hard. This song is before Eminem overdoses, he recorded this for a track with Royce da 5 9 and Jay Z liked the beat and asked to use it, he didn't change his verse. I also recommend Crooked I (Or King Crook) "CONVERTIBLE BARS"
this song came out in a time when they where trying to censor hiphop. The big controversy will Em being a white rapper and what he was saying in his songs didn't go with gangsta/ street rap at the time and white America not wanting him being the face of white rap. Em has and will always be top three all time. no matter if you like his music his skill is better than 99% of those that did it. Lyrically!!!!
Hip Hop saw a lot of backlash back during that time. Lots of groups with religious & political ties went on tv telling people to not buy Em & J’s music. This was their response. J wrote around Em’s as it was prerecorded with Royce 5’9”. Original version is out there.
I interpreted Jay's "fork" bar to mean he came to a crosswords in life, but instead of choosing one of the laid out paths that split before him, he created his own new path by going straight
Yes people actually had to go and buy the album and ill tell you something you probably dont know, Eminems "Marshal Mathers LP" sold 1.78 MILLION copies the first week...almost 2 million physical copies bought at stores in the first week that he dropped his second album.
He says “history” because there’s a story behind it. They really didn’t perform the song because NAS used this song during their beef on Ether. He said Em washed J on his own song. Everyone in the industry was telling J that Em outflowed him even his own camp. What made it worse was J did his verse after hearing Em. Took J a while to get over everyone around him saying Em got him per people in his camp.
Honestly music in general had a lot better talented people in it back in the day. You really had to be a talented singer without autotune and other effects they throw onto songs nowadays. Nowadays a lot of singers sounds like they're singing through an overproduced filter. While back then you really had to be perfect in your talent. Also with rap, the artists really needed to have talent. Nowadays its a lot of autotune and rapping about doing drugs, smoking and drinking. While back then people talked about their life story and captured audiences with their relatability.
It always starts the same … “” ewww Jay be sorting they shi.. Fr telling it how it is.. then Em comes on and the same thing… “ this dudes different he.. did he… ya he’s different “ quote unquote same as always
So many like that best bar in Js verse the fork in the road, which was Big Ls ,Hov ain't but a NY gutter rat ,you should check that shit Cam'Ron dropped showing the amount of rhymes and schemes was bitten
How you supposed to be a hip hop reaction channel & you don’t know Jay-Z songs? Smh, do better……y’all need to react to “God Did”, “What’s Free?” & “Smile” by Jay-Z
Eminem had huge legal cases involving his lyrics when he says they say you shouldn't hear it hes talking about censorship and hes the reason any one can say whatever they want in music now because he faught for artistic freedom
This song was originally recorded but not released Royce & Eminem song. Jay asked if Em would do it with him. Eminem didn’t change his verses from original. 🔥
And eminem produced the beat
It ain't just bout what he's sayin, it's how he's sayin aswell.. he's maintaining 5-6 syllables rhyme scheme.. he's nuts
After this Jay z Never was able to look at Eminem normal , he still mad
Jay Z was out of breath and didn't sound like the studio recording
Eminem was top notch and he sounds exactly like the studio version
Eminem is just in a league of his own
Literally stumbled like he forgot his lyrics for a min
Em got that edge . But both so great so deep and meaningful. We can't compare with new rap Music
Eminem track. Eminem also covered Jay Z when he ran out of breath on his verse.
Respect to the goat Em.
Two of the best doing what they do. Forever a great song.
Thank you for your reaction.
You guys have a dope channel! Keep goin🙌
i love watching this kind of engagement...Ice Cube killed NWA wit "NO VASELINE"! Em went nuts on this track...but so did Jay..great track.
That’s who it is…. Pops looks like the Allstate guy👍
mixtapes! man thats how. you have to sit by the radio till the right song came on and then snatch it.
Fork in the road means, you can go left or right,, but he went straight, meaning he carved his own path,,,,
and the fork in the road is a cliff so jay committed suicide

Straight up big ups!😅
The going straight is,you're not choosing the path that was laid out for you because of faith,he creates his own faith as he goes

Back then it relied on radio play
I interpreted Jay's "fork" bar to mean he came to a crosswords in life, but instead of choosing one of the laid out paths that split before him, he created his own new path by going straight

Yes people actually had to go and buy the album and ill tell you something you probably dont know, Eminems "Marshal Mathers LP" sold 1.78 MILLION copies the first week...almost 2 million physical copies bought at stores in the first week that he dropped his second album.
