I'm a 37 year old pro video editor and I connect with what you're saying. Looking back, there were some potentially career-altering opportunities I said no to because of self-doubt, or because I didn't want to risk the job I currently had. I think the common trait of most of your advice is people need to allow themselves to step out of their comfort zone. Being uncomfortable is a sign of growth, and people should embrace it and learn to see it as a potentially positive thing. By the way, you put out great content, and I hope young video editors get a chance to learn and be inspired by this. Because it is golden.
18 now i have minimal editing experience, mostly made "aesthetic edits" on instagram since i was 13 and only recently i've started practicing with adobe. my passion about it seems to tend towards matching music/audio to visual(music videos). i also feel very interested in narrative editing. i would say these are what i'm passionate about... im just now getting started looking at how to do this professionally cause i know this is what i want to do, i'm probably gonna be utilizing this channel for awhile from now on. it's all so scary tho! it feels like there's so much to learn. i think after watching some of your videos freelance would be the best idea.. i'll have to see. thanks for sharing your knowledge! very helpful for someone just starting out like me
You sound just like me when I started, music was a big proponent for me getting into video editing. I hope this channel helps you!!! Please let me know if you have any specific topics you’d like me to talk about on here :)
@@ColleenCavolo I am now! Lol. I've been an animator for several years, but wanted to try new kinds of content on my channel, so I started taking video editing seriously a couple of months ago. More recently, I started freelance editing to learn new techniques from other RUclipsrs, which is kind of what led me to your channel. Your videos are SUPER helpful!
@@HunterTopHatGuy I appreciate that so much!!! And I envy you. I’ve been video editing for years but animation is something I’ve always wanted to do but can’t seem to wrap my head around lol
Yes, Colleen!! This is such a candid and helpful video… informative and inspiring!! And also, I LOVE the whole vibe you’ve got going on! You (and the lovely lights behind you) look so good!!!
