    Great running as always Rachel and the video was up to your usual high standard. The end of the video was very heart warming. Personally the first half of the summer was very stressful but running I find very helpful when dealing with difficult situations. Best wishes with your future running races and challenges.

      Hi Geoff, I hope your stresses have eased a bit now. Running has lots more benefits than just getting fit, doesn’t it. It can help in so many ways. I’m looking forward to lots of new challenges but definitely taking it easier towards the end of the year now 😊

    Ps. Always interesting to hear people’s running journeys because no two are the same. You ran this race 10 years ago. Can I ask how long have you been running for?

    • @racheld1844
      @racheld1844  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Colin. Hope you’re back to running again now?
      I’ve always been active but started running when I was about 17/18. I joined my local running club for about a year before I joined the Army. I ran a few races but it was in my early 20’s that I had my children which is where running became much more sporadic but since 2010 I’ve been on a continuous streak of improvement with training and times. That’s the short version 😁 I think I might be unusual in that I’m still getting pbs after so long but I’m training far smarter than my younger self. Not sure for how much longer though, I’ll have to peak at some point 🙂

    • @MrCol104
      @MrCol104 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@racheld1844 Nice one, Rachel. Always said everybody's running journey is unique and yours is a good example of this.
      Improving and getting PB's in 30's, 40's and beyond can happen for various reasons. Commitment, training techniques and having more time can be factors.
      Yeah, I'm back running after a 3 month layoff, but am way off where I was. Just running again is a blessing - I'll never lose sight of that.

    • @racheld1844
      @racheld1844  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@MrCol104 - that’s lovely to here you’re running again Colin. I totally get the newfound appreciation after having time out with injury/illness. I remember getting back to running fast after a calf injury meant I could do nothing but slow runs. When I was first pushing hard again at parkruns and it was getting tough I’d remind myself that a few months before, I’d have given anything to have been able to run fast again. Not sure that thought process lasted long 🤣 but I do get that being able to run full stop is quite an important thing.
      Hope your rebuild goes well and that your fitness levels pick back up to where it was 🤞

      @MrCol104 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@racheld1844 Thanks Rachel. I actually race a sub 3 hour (2:58:57) at Chester marathon yesterday which is so pleasing. Chest issue is still there but it’s manageable’.
      If you get chance to run Chester marathon, I can not recommend it enough. Just a really good event.

    • @racheld1844
      @racheld1844  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@MrCol104 - that’s brilliant Colin! Perfect sub 3 hour running and with chest problems still lingering too. My friend ran there yesterday and was also going for sub 3, but the last few hills added an extra minute on for him.
      I’ve never run an Autumn road marathon before. I’ll be choosing a spring marathon soon so will be looking at starting up a new training block in the new year.
      What are you plans now?
