Wow !!! You're going all out on this one. Might as well... The Monster should look good as well as impressive.. LOL No hurry, the slower you go, the faster you'll get there. Bonjour du Québec
Shes a big complicated girl! Glad to see you walking through some of the issues I experienced. When you replace the air system and lines please be very specific as to how you attached them and run them back into the fuse. Mine had no air system and Im having some difficulty in finding the best practice way to run these. Thanks again for another Master Class my friend!
Like you, I hate having to wait for primer/paint to cure LOL. I know its necessary but man I simply hate the wait. Looking forward to see how you weather the gear. So many different ways to do that and I always look for new ideas. Keep up the great work and again, your videos are really helpful. From one modeler to you.......Thank you
I just can't get over the Girth of that Jet!! The landing gear looks like it's made from Gurders!! Great job with the prep for painting and some great tips 😀👍
A thought for your shop and painting metal parts in the future. You could make a "paint oven" to bake the finish onto the parts (and speed up the drying/curing time) with an insulated plywood box and some 100W _incandescent_ light bulbs or some infra-red heater bulbs (found at a feed store for raising chickens).
@@thelightersideofrc Another option would be to see if you could find a used electric oven (that could be set to a low of around 150 F). Using the one in the kitchen could cause problems. Unless neither of you mind _ODD_ tasting food LMAO
good day, congratulations for all your projects, this incredible F14 is one of my favorites but I have seen that fabulous yak54 with the color scheme that in my opinion is the best that those yak54 have left and with which I started in this nice hobby, only with a small electric one, if one day you make a sweepstakes I will gladly buy a ticket, greetings.
Awesome video as always Jonathan. So looking forward to this build and updates as I will be going into surgery and be in the hospital for about a week will give me something to look forward too. David is going to love the bird!!!
Can’t wait for this one Jon. I’d also love to see you build a Skymaster F4 Phantom… ideally electric (as many of us can’t afford or don’t have permission at our local field) to fly turbines. Keep up the great work!!
Hi Jonathan, Impressive start to this build series. Thanks for making these videos. I'm sure you could accomplish much more if you didn't have to take all the time needed for the camera setups. It's a shame that the first painting didn't go as expected due to the temperature, but you showed what was needed to recover, raise the temps, and end with an acceptable paint job. I'm amazed at the weight considering the complexity and size of this model. Thought it would have been more. Looking forward to the next video. You and Katie stay safe. PS Will you be constructing your own runway on the property for testing after the build are completed?
Thanks Don! I was blown away when I got the gear out and the swing wing mech out how light the fuse is by itself! Felt like nothing! If I do a small runway on the new property it will just be for electrics type thing. lots of space but not enough to fly big planes!
Jonathan just a few things can we see the Design of the Outside of your Shop? Jonathan with the High Ceiling you have have you putting all your Jet on pullings System? Like how we hang our Road bikes in our Garage? God Bless and take Care.
Hey Greg. Yea once we get closer to completion we will do a tour of everything. I will be parking my RC Trailer inside so my plan initially is to keep most of my own planes inside the trailer for storage and easy, ready to go transport for when it's flying time. No loading the trailer!
Super that you focused so much on the details to recreate the F-14 as best as possible, so why the paint job is of the F/A-18F which never happened on the F-14, and the wrong squadron designation should be VF-102 (belongs to F-14) not VFA-102 which belongs to Super Hornets sqdn.
So what was the response about an unpainted gear and no light kit? I know there are shipping difficulties these days, but do they just ship whatever they have without checking with you first?
No Response yet..........The lighting kit was never added to the order. We have a wicked UNILIGHT Setup coming which will be much better than the stock kit. Sometimes it feels like it's a surprise when you open up these boxes. Hmmmmm wonder what will be inside this time!😂
Do not use anything that is silicone based in your shop anywhere not for polishing not for ceiling. It will contaminate your shop and you will have nothing but trouble with fish eyes. I've been a painter for 60 years and I had to learn this the hard way.
Thanks Michael. Great advice but sadly the landing gear comes pre loaded with silicone oil which is why it's such a struggle to get the gear painted. Pre heating the landing gear makes the process much easier. I appreciate it.
Fantasy schemes are fun. There are literally dozens of them in model railroad ranging from very cool to utterly ridiculous. But the rule is his layout, his rules. Same rule applies here. And yes, it is a toy, one hell of a toy, but still a toy...lol
@@thelightersideofrc just, have fun. Seriously. Between Trudeau and Biden, not much fun left out there that won't get you arrested. And for the money you guys spend on those things...yeah, have fun...I got more money than you can imagine in trains...so, that's my rule..
Hello Paul. Order takes about 16 weeks for the build then shipping time. We got this one air shipped. If we went with container/boat it’s still on the water.
Awesome video as always Jonathan. So looking forward to this build and updates as I will be going into surgery and be in the hospital for about a week will give me something to look forward too. David is going to love the bird!!!
Thanks for checking out the video! Typically we would do the equipment review first but that will be coming up possibly in video #2.
Wow !!! You're going all out on this one. Might as well... The Monster should look good as well as impressive.. LOL

The white gear will make the belly view “pop” when gear is drooped on the 14.
Nice touches Jonathan!!
Thanks Steve!

Ha no kidding! Paint. Wait a day. Paint. Wait a day. Finish painting. Wait a week. 🤣🤣

Thanks Ian! We thought the Huracan was girthy! This 14 is next level!
This will be a good PRO-ject to watch.
Thanks!😎
Looking good... Still amazed how light that thing is for its size. Looking forward to seeing completed and in the air.
Thanks! I was blown away how light the fuse was when I got the gear and wing mech out! It felt like it was nothing.
I love the attention to detail on the gear , Ive used Callie-Graphics in the past, they are fantastic.Exciting build.
Thanks Sal!

Great suggestion! I don't think the wife would be happy If i was baking parts in the kitchen oven!😄

Great video, can't wait for the next one on the landing gear!
Thanks Ed!
Landing gear looking good, love the work around with the hidden nuts. Great building as usual 👍🏻
Thanks Dad! Was a head scratcher for sure.

Once again Jonathan, very thorough, enjoyable the watch. Keep up the good work.

The shiney part of the undercarriage or the plunger/shaft as you called it, is called the fescalised portion……😊
Wow Ian. I appreciate that. Unfortunately I probably won’t remember that🙈🤣
@@thelightersideofrc it worries me that I can remember it having not worked on full size aircraft for over 20 years…..😂😂😳
🤣🤣
While it sucks that Skymaster didn't paint the landing gear, at least it gives you a chance to locktite everything while you have it out.
Yea, absolutely! They also generally don't do a great job on the gear painting so this will be a better final product.

Thanks! I actually may be picking up a brand new F4 Phantom to sell/build. That would be interesting to build as an electric aircraft!
@@thelightersideofrc I did some research with Schubler, and they thought the Skymaster F4 would be a very good candidate for EDF.
The one that I have access too is currently setup for a single engine setup. I’m assuming a dual would be better and easier for the pipe setup.
@@thelightersideofrc yes I was assuming twin fans
