  • How to Pick the Right Investment Style for Your Portfolio? | MF Ki Baat with Ajay Tyagi
    SIP is the best way to invest in Equity Funds as nobody can time the stock market well all the time. You can also choose a comfortable SIP frequency be it daily, monthly or quarterly. You must never stop SIPs and continue with equity fund investments for at least 5 years to reap the benefits of India’s growth story. Have equity funds that follow the growth style and some that follow the value style in your portfoli0. Investing in a second or third house is a bad idea as the equity asset class is the best performer over time. ULIPs are not optimum financial products as they mix life insurance and savings.

    Thank you for this insightful conversation. I have a comment about smallcap vs midcap vs largecap argument. I agree with the analysis when you look at the indices. The smallcap index is the most disadvantaged (compared to midcap and largecap) because, the best performers of the smallcap index move into midcap index every six months (at every rebalance) and the underperformers of midcap index join the smallcap index - a double whammy! Hence, holding on to a smallcap index is not at all beneficial! But, actively managed smallcap funds have performed (in terms of risk-adjusted returns) much better than actively managed midcap/large cap funds.

    Quant fund has given best returns in the market in the last five years where the fund managers frequently jumped from one sectors to another. So paisa to bnta h. UTI nhi bna pa rhi wo alag baat h.

    • @acclimatized8838
      @acclimatized8838 Год назад

      Your correct but it's matter of time quant will do the same. Once aum go above a certain level they'll fail to churn properly. Just see nowadays most of their fund have big largecaps only like SBI ITC reliance. They have went into condition where they cant churn among mid and small cap

    • @abhikhamari
      @abhikhamari Год назад

      But the days are too far, well SBI and ITC has give good returns. May be they will have lesser churn but still based on algorithm they can take long term bets. If they fail to do this it will be reflected in the numbers. If they can't do good,their AUM will drop and they will be back to churning again.@@acclimatized8838

    You made one mistake on small caps. Small cap index is not doing great but active small cap funds are doing well.

    Thank you Namrata , i keep learning a lot with all your videos. I have one question, The general advice is to stay for invested long period of time with a small SIP amount. Genrally a person will have higher disposable income in the later years before retirement, can you pls consider how should such additional amounts be invested in the later years to reap the benefits of equity investments

    • @rohithkumar3480
      @rohithkumar3480 Год назад

      As a person gets closer to retirement his portfolio should be predominantly Debts not equities because of volatility of the equity market.This is why i think NPS is one of the very good options for retirement planning as equity percent decreases by 2.5 percent per year from age of 50.

    My father made nearly 18% after tax returns on a real estate which he held on for 32 years. Equity didn't do as good, It's a matter of opportunity.

      18 percent compounded?
      That would mean 256 times the cost.
      Are you sure

      Undoubtedly the choice should be a nifty fifty index fund / Sensex fund in lieu of a large cap fund after sebi reclassification.
