My first proper hobby grade RC was a nitro XTM XT2, wow talk about a steep learning curve, but i absolutely loved the faffing about and tinkering with it. Ran it with a Hong Nor exhaust, man what a lovely sound..and the power...Still got the old rig in a cupboard gathering dust sonewhere, keep threatening to dig it out and get it going again :)

Had the original SAVAGE 21 (it was 10 years old when I bought it) - blummin’ thing was bullet proof, never messed about, always ran, loved the abuse and I stupidly sold it on 🤦🏼♂️ they are fantastic. The 4.6 and 5.9XL never worked out for me but a Savage will always have a place in my shed, anytime.
But with this savage you don't need much. I pretty much bought a roller XL for a decent price and put my own stuff on. There is still more I want to do with it cause I only own this one truck.
I don't know how much you paid but it seems you made out pretty good on that second hand buy. That's what I did with my savage and just put what I want on it.

I rebuilt the 3 speed transmission, all new gears, shims, bearings, clutch holders, clutch hub and idler shaft.
Sometimes all a nitro motor needs is a bit of thrash

Your local shop should have them, if not try Googling it. I’ll find you a link if you have no luck.
Are duratrax the same as a Savage will the shell body fit on a duratrax are the parts are about the same
Just got mine out after 4 years of storage and I've managed to free the engine off but just struggling to get a tick over but mines pull start 😐
