I think the way that the fire cools as you go ending with hot coals makes the perfect setup for cooking rice, Hot for a quick boil then less and less heat as there is less moisture. Actually that cycle works well for a lot of cooking situations.
+RS Marett I know! I love square pans, I want to make something unique, but it may be quite a while before I can, I have other items in line. I wish I could do everything at once. Thanks!
I love my firebox, I have cooked loads of meals on it, they are excellent all fuel stoves great for backpacking, picnics and burning privet, bracken and all garden waste, with a nice meal at the end of all the waste burning, great bit of kit
Great food ideas!!!!! I use my nano several times a week, but usually with a Trangia burner. It's great as a dual purpose pot support and windshield that folds up and fits in your pocket.........
Mark, I have a new idea i would like feedback on. Please send your shipping details to steve@fireboxstove and I;ll send one to you for evaluation. Thanks.
Enough ideas in this 7 year old video to keep me busy for a year with the FB stove... cooking fajitas on it for the first time tonight... in the backyard during the first snowstorm of the season!

Hello. Wanted to add a final comment. Wanted you to know that I absolutely loved this video. Have watched it 5 times. The vast variety of foods and meals that you cooked on your stove was incredible. I took notes. Lol. You cooking on the stoves for a large family picnic was a nice touch also. And BTW I got one of your Nano's and it is great. Awesome little stove. Can cook anything on it. I'm in to natural wood fuel now. No more carrying fuel canisters that leak. Wood fuel is everywhere. Looking forward to your next product and/or video. Keep up the great work.
+RS Marett Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Nano! I actually have a new version of the 5" Firebox coming. I'll be posting a video showing it off Friday morning. And doing a KickStarter on Sept 25 at 8am MDT. Thanks for the support!

At hunting or fishing camping, everyone has a dedicated day they stayed in camp to cook , after meals everyone done dishes . We would smoke meat on a smokey joe . Brisket , ribs , shoulders , we always found one or few wild pigs . One of us had a hog claim , so unmarked pigs was legal . People stop by camp , always was offered hot coffee, if close to mealtimes , they were invited to eat . We cooked some kind of beans or peas every day to go with what we smoked . I use my zebra pots , for cooking beans or peas . But your hiking and such , you haven't the time for dishes we cook . Everyone loves my chilli when its colder weather . We cook a lot of fried crappie, and flathead catfish here too , where you use rice , I like grits , I ts a southern dish . At breakfast butter and sugar them , lunch and supper , butter and salt n pepper to taste . I carry my cooking kit in my pickup, if I'm going a long ways to a dr appointment or basically coming home from the hospital, ill pull over at a roadside park , I know where everyone is , make coffee, and something to snack on . I try keeping a few paper grocery bags to put my dirty dishes in if I don't feel like washing them there . Your videos shows me how to fix good food fast .
That is awesome Roy, sounds like you have a great time out there. We hope you continue to do so and we are so glad you have been making amazing memories and food on your Firebox Stove. Have fun!
a good trick for not burning the rice is putting a fairly thinly sliced potato (with oil or butter if you have it) on the bottom of the pot. No burnt rice and a crispy potato as a bonus
I'd be interested in a short tutorial on how you make your rice in chili stew or some way of doing that to rice and double boiling. also ways to minimize cleanup. for example I made some canned chili in my 900 milliliter solo stove pot and burnt the bottom. it was a real pain to clean.
