I agree with you chunky and scholarly though I have found my favorites are either those famous people and the history that made them that way and where I get to learn not only a person life but history. The best being like you said the historical ones! I really loved Vanderbilt this year.
I love the way you describe the appeal of Kafka's diaries. I am with you on being turned off by deliberate attempts to be inspirational. Thanks for doing the tag.
Accidentally inspirational 😂 that's a good point. Based on the biography of Peyps I read I think the unabridged would be mostly him trying to snog random women.
_D’accord_ with the thoughts on Kafka’s diaries. Every time I hear him talked about I’m so tempted to order his diaries and various letters collections. Kafka’s comfort food for me. Oddly I don’t feel the same urgency for Emily Dickinson’s letters whose new collection has been reviewed by Hannah.
I love your answer about “interrogating the past” in memoirs. Great answers to a great tag. And Pepys for People April is perfect!
Thank you, Hannah! Maybe I will give Pepys a try next year.

Absolutely! That historical element is almost like an added bonus to the biography!
Wonderful responses, Aaron! I really enjoyed hearing your answers to the prompts. I liked this tag quite a bit.😊
Thank you, Pat. It was a really lovely tag!

Thanks, Ros! It was a great tag. I hadn't thought that much about my relationship to life writing before, so it was great to be given the chance.
Pepys for People April is a very good idea! It’s noted for next year… Thanks for doing the tag!
Thanks, Elisabeth! It was a really fun tag!

So I'm guessing the super-abridged Pepys would be "snogging, etc." and then a long list of dates.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much I'd get on with Dickinson's letters, but I think I'll check out Hannah's review. Maybe it will change my mind...
Excellent 🎉
Thanks, Allen!
