I don't know if anyone noticed, but there's a huge reference in the video. In Thomas & Friends (a show for kids) there is an electric locomotive named Stafford. And your electric locomotive has the shape of Stafford if you look at him in "Welcome Stafford".
For the diesel locomotive idea, you could make it so you can craft the engine itself. You would craft it with more or less cylinders. That way, people could make more powerful locomotives in a single unit. However, of course, there would be a limit to how many cylinders the engine can have, and more cylinders = more costly to make. The diesel loco of course would run longer on one fill up than a steam loco. Then it would have an advantage/benefit to make the diesel fuel refining worth it. Also, maybe there could be biofuel too! (Going green, eh?! :P) You could even make the regular steam boilers run on diesel, fuel oil, sludge, biofuel, etc... Oh yeah, and what about making the locomotives light up the track in front of them? Just more of an effect than anything practical. But I think it would look cool xD
NO WAY!! I've wanted this so much! I can't believe I can even power them with IC2 battery carts. This is like a birthday AND christmas present. You just got another Patron.
stumbled over this mood in packs..and despite that I not figgured out or use it all the time , sometimes I just love to have the stuff from a mine transported to the central complex/base by rail and no cheeky teleport pipes or ender chests ^^
Looking forward to this update in the new Feed the Beast modpack (I guess this will be in?). Maybe a nice idea to let chickens, pigs and cows drop cooked meat when killed on the electric tracks?
Very awesome. Couple of questions: Is there anything preventing steam and electric from sharing tracks? IE no reason steam can't run on electric tracks? If I have enough power, and the Electric Loco is on all electric tracks, do they provide enough charge per tick to keep a locomotive full? Do both types of Locomotives connect to one another? And is an unpowered electric locomotive heavier than a steam one? So I could use Steam for long distance travel with electric tracks going up mountains for additional pulling from electric locomotives? Also, RF compatibility isn't necessary. Several other mods all provide RF compatibility, and now that turbines aren't IC2 required, you'd be running steam off to make RF anyway. Laser bridges sound hilariously awesome. And that metals chest is the coolest idea I've ever seen.
Triaxx2 You can run Steam on Electric Tracks, or link Steam and Electric if you wish. The tracks are capable of supporting several Electric Locomotives.
Excellent. Could make for very interesting logistics. With the weight change in energy carts, does that cause issue if I'm transporting them with Steam Locomotives? Or do I just need to use more of them?
This is really nice, but I would like to ask a couple of things. First of all can I use forge micro parts to cover up my wires? Also the light on the locomotive, will it shine at night or is there just for decoration?. And my last question is about the thaumcraft locomotive which you talked about in you dark tower series, will it still be happening or not. And as you are moving away from BC, I guess that you can't power your tracks with MJ. One last thing, please do make the oil refining happen, It would look really cool in a Industrial erea. Thanks in advance for you awnsers. P.S. Sorry for my english, It aint my primary language.
Doty1154_ Last I heard, only the TE devs have a problem with FMP. Implementing support for it is not at all the mess that KingLemming and co. have made it out to be.
Are there any plans on adding diesel powered locomotives? You know Traincraft has either been abandoned or has stalled @ Minecraft 1.6.4. Maybe you can pick that project up or something.
this video helped me out quite a bit, but how did you get the train with the BatBox to stop and recharge and then continue going on it's own? mine just kinda stops at the locking track and stays there :/
RF isn't a liquid. If you need evidence look at Thermal Expansion's own leadstone and hardened energy conduits; they both use solid conductors. RF is more or so just kinetic energy fluctuations through a redstone based conduit. When forestry updates I imagine the electric engine will be converted to handle Electricity (EU) to RF conversions. Now we just need a Kinetic Generator to add the RF to EU conversions.
Neat mod... I wasn't sure about the utility of the mod until this and another video. Will be implementing on one of my game worlds now. Is it just my imagination, or is the design of the electric engine inspired by a real world famed engine, designed by a Mr. Loewy?
This looks cool, defenitly gonna play around with it! I know you said no RF for powering the trains etc. But what are the odds for an RF transport cart? :D
Hey Covert, can you a little novelty config that makes the electric rails shock you for a 1/2 heart every second you stand on it if it's live? Just something silly that popped into my head while watching this that I thought you might appreciate :P
nick wasd yeah, i saw that, and at first i was like - huh, that's a small chest for the cost, and then i saw _the thing_ happening and went "ahhh.... now _that is_ handy"
I've got a few more ideas. Could you make a tender cart for the steam locomotives? It can be dyed the same way. It is used for transportation of players and fuel in essentially one cart.
I'm noticing some of my carts randomly switching orientation, just as yours did at 5:20. Not sure what causes it as the regular locomotives run fine, I think.
Generally happens when carts/locomotives bump into eachother when hitting a slope (or after cutting the power from 3 of the 4 engines like in the video). Happens with vanilla and Steve's Carts too. Like he said, its a Minecraft issue. Generally speaking, the leading loc will pull the rest back in the right direction.
The tracks store a bit too much electricity for my taste. 10 000 Charge/EU equals an RE-Battery even though there's just a chunk of copper carrying it. Nice work however, thank you!
Good idea, but it would not be strong enough to power a locomotive continuously. It would need time to charge up. Or maybe it would have to work with the Advanced Solar Panels mod.
Thermal Expansion Carts (Leadstone Energy Cart,...) would be usefull because many modpacks are RF packs and doesn´t have IC2 installed! I hope you will add that! pls
ahah... electric loco gone VERY SLOW on standard rail (vanilla). Erffffff... I need to replace ALLLLL my LOOOONNNGGGG railroad. so, I think, it's not good idea to want be compatible with all sort of energie. eletric loco can be only EU. Electric Unit no ? it"s funny to find way to make energy compatibility. well, GOOD JOB !!!
I don't mean to be rude but his voice sounds like mayor bo's voice somewhat. If you don't know what I am talking about look up legend of zelda twilight princess abridged by xanauzumaki.
Cant you make el. locomotives but they will run on wire at top (image will show what i mean) upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Elektrick%C3%A1_jednotka_451.017,_Lihovar.jpg

I noticed
The diesel locomotives could be pretty cool.
I'm curious to see where you go.
Thanks for updating Railcraft.
So, a liquid fueled locomotive

Really like the metals chest CJ really excited this is making start a new world based around railcraft :)
Awesome job CJ. Railcraft is always such high quality!
stumbled over this mood in packs..and despite that I not figgured out or use it all the time , sometimes I just love to have the stuff from a mine transported to the central complex/base by rail and no cheeky teleport pipes or ender chests ^^
Man this is a trip down memory lane! Do you know the world seed and version?

Triaxx2 use more
Got it. Thanks for the response.

Last i heard Fmp is a mess, algo regrets adding support. Also the Thaumcraft Locomotives would be nice to see *****

I think the chickens should drop Cooked chicken if there being fryed.
Can't wait for 1.8!
nice mod man!!!! i like youre voice btw xxD nice video man!!
this tutorial is a life saver, thankyou so much for this video
Spacetoad said in his latest video that Buildcraft will move to RF, that might be why the engine isn't working right.
RIP MJ i guess.
AntiLetsPlay Other way around, Forestry is moving to RF because BC isn't working right, and BC is moving to RF because Forestry and RC are. =P
Thank you CJ.

use a crowbar until you see two arrows(or one if you always want it to go one direction.)
Well, since RF is technically a Liquid, someone could make a mod that allows you to use RF to work with an IC2 generator of some form.
If RF is a liquid, why can't we store it in a tank?
It's only a liquid in technicality. It's not an actual liquid.
RF isn't a liquid. If you need evidence look at Thermal Expansion's own leadstone and hardened energy conduits; they both use solid conductors. RF is more or so just kinetic energy fluctuations through a redstone based conduit.

I love this!
I think adding subway cars would be cool instead of minecarts :D
Would love to see these in the dark tower :D

2 things, make the hit box of the wires smaller, and please make them work with forge multipart.
Hey Covert, can you a little novelty config that makes the electric rails shock you for a 1/2 heart every second you stand on it if it's live? Just something silly that popped into my head while watching this that I thought you might appreciate :P
they already do... see at about 29 min onward :)
Ahh, I didn't watch the whole thing, I stopped it a bit after he showed the metals chest, WHICH IS AWESOME BY THE WAY!
nick wasd yeah, i saw that, and at first i was like - huh, that's a small chest for the cost, and then i saw _the thing_ happening and went "ahhh.... now _that is_ handy"
fantastic!
By the way, did you name "Stafford" after the character from Thomas & Friends?
Railcraft лучший мод
Are there any plans for diesels?
I've got a few more ideas. Could you make a tender cart for the steam locomotives? It can be dyed the same way. It is used for transportation of players and fuel in essentially one cart.
Hello! Are you still working on this? My elec locomotive train crashes always and I can't slow it down from the top speed
I'm noticing some of my carts randomly switching orientation, just as yours did at 5:20. Not sure what causes it as the regular locomotives run fine, I think.

In the tooltip for a locomotive it says:" Basic electric" Does this mean any possibilities for some augmentation in the future?
***** A few months back, I added a system that would allow people to create new alternative models for Locomotives. So far, no one has done so.
The tracks store a bit too much electricity for my taste. 10 000 Charge/EU equals an RE-Battery even though there's just a chunk of copper carrying it.
Nice work however, thank you!
covert, you should make a solar panel minecart, it would be useful
Good idea, but it would not be strong enough to power a locomotive continuously. It would need time to charge up. Or maybe it would have to work with the Advanced Solar Panels mod.
If you add diesel locomotives, make an electric/diesel hybrid that runs on both diesel and electricity :)
Thermal Expansion Carts (Leadstone Energy Cart,...) would be usefull because many modpacks are RF packs and doesn´t have IC2 installed! I hope you will add that! pls
what mod pack do you play in?
Where are the other 2 engines in railcraft?
what version of minecraft is this
Hm.... is there any way to use these without Ic2 installed? Does the turbine even work without Ic2?
Asen Merjanov Yes it does.
This is one of my favorite mods but i can't get forge installed on my computer. Please help
Why won't Windows let you use your RAM?
how do you create rebar?
but how can i use electric locomotives i want to use it to pass my chest carts like a bank
can you plz plz plz make this version with electric locomotives with 1.7.10?
It's been there since 2015.
add recuperation please for charging locomotive or tracks
and multi unit control for >1 locomotives.
Do live electric tracks zap players? They seem like they should...
see from about 29 min onward :)
how do I use the energy loader
ahah... electric loco gone VERY SLOW on standard rail (vanilla).
Erffffff... I need to replace ALLLLL my LOOOONNNGGGG railroad.
so, I think, it's not good idea to want be compatible with all sort of energie.
eletric loco can be only EU. Electric Unit no ?

well, GOOD JOB !!!

How is RF not electricity?
***** Because its not? Its some kind of pseudo kinetic charge transmitted by redstone.
*****
I get it now.
cant make tin plates. and nei doesnt show recipes for all plates
well now i can now that u showed meh. lol. 22:21
Я это место уже где то видел

Trollzzofficial I answer that question in the video.
***** ups sorry then i watched half of the vid. :D i will go find it.
Trollzzofficial He said the rendering of that was problematic.
Igor Loginov thank you for informating. :)
