I wish I had never seen this.
So I would be able to experience the joy of watching it again.
Yeah, I'm obsessed.
Can’t wait for season 2 if it happens. I relate to this show so much
Watched a special screening last night.Brilliant watch especially for all Brummies over 40!
Especially this Brummie, who grew up in the high rise flats in 1982 that are no longer there.
Over 60
Heard The Specials in my head, just by seeing the title of this film.
I think that was the idea, but I cant speak for the creator. I saw another article that said ska will be a part of the show. Theres a little tiny ska riff I hear in the background but Im interested in hearing the music in the show and wonder who did it.
Erm... "This town is becoming like a ghost town"?
@@annwe6 'coming'
Exactly I mean Coventry = The Specials
@@annwe6too much fighting on thee dance floor!
I'm sold. The music will make this.
I thought so do but ep 1 music was crap
@@carladean6117 Totally disagree with you about ep 1. I thought it was alright!
@@mikekaraoke It stunk!
@@bobbugwithoneeyeskingiskin8974 In your opinion, for me and many others we thought it was alright-don't speak for everyone!
@@mikekaraoke The story, characters and it historically inaccurate! They are based on real people, a place, and a time of a musical explosion that has been so poorly put together as to be a insult to the area it depicts! I could run through all the inaccuracies, but it would take a essay to write them all! I came in contact with the Zulu Warriors, the Family Members that are depicted as the main Gang in the series, the Music Scene in Birmingham and the surrounding area at that time and nobody would recognise themselves! The reality was much more interesting and exciting! Ska was already a big thing and had already been bypassed as the music of Birmingham, by the New Romantic Movement! As Duran Duran had just released their first album! Goths, New Wave, Post Punk and Alternative music were prevalent and the club scene was huge! UB40 was playing small stadium’s locally! For the main character not to know all of this would have been impossible! As youth culture was understood by that generation, as they didn’t have mobile phones, computer games and the internet to distract them from it!
I stand by my statement… It Stunk!
Now explain why it was “Alright”?
The Happy Trooper pub in the film is actually The Coach & Horses pub in Hateley Heath in West Bromwich, they changed its name just for the filming, where he is standing above the motorway is the Tame Valley Canal bridge over the motorway close to the Tame Bridge Railway Station on Walsall Road West Bromwich.
Spot on mate, last year i was working at Phoenix Collegiate School just around the corner from the pub. I spoke to some of the extras at the time, and two tone/this town were the working titles. I can't wait to watch this.
Looking forward to this. The Specials were my first ever gig, Cardiff Sophia gardens 1980. I was aged fourteen and had the time of my life.
As a Specials fan & former Cardiffian, this story makes me happy.
@mariaaguadoball3407 I'm glad, they really were great times.
i was at that gig, i came down from brum on the train. amazing gig but the cardiff skinheads were psychos so i kept my brummie mouth shut!
@@griffo-griffo ah brilliant mate😀. It was quite a rowdy crowd from what I remember. I was wearing a Beige Harrington, stay press, a Black Fred Perry, and Monkey boots, great times.
ANYBODY WHO WAS A TEENAGE IN THE UK MUST WATCH THIS. Sublime ❤
Hey you, don't watch that, watch this!!!
This is the heavy heavy monster sound…….
Wrong band
Brilliant comment
@@idatekatemoss 🤣🤣 not 🤣🤣
Same genre. Same era.
Stephen Knight has created the Forty Elephants show too which is coming soon, he really is writing shows about great British stories/themes!
More genius writing from the Brilliant steven knight , amazing young actors ❤️ 🙏🏿✨
Can't wait to see this - important for Birmingham to be seen on TV more. But also British history in relation to race and music too.
But the show is an abortion to the realities of that time! 😂
@daviddrapkiits pure left wing rubbish
Watched what a load of tripe
Born and Lived in West Bromwich During those times stone throw from WBA football club and Handworth. My hubby mother lived in Lozells Road good old days. Not great times these. Good programme thou
I don’t know why but it reminded me this is England ❤
🎯🎯🎯🎯
Loved the 80s I was 13 when two tone came about 1979 love being a skinhead
looks like some of it was shot in Druids heath in Birmingham, i would have been at Maypole School which was by the blocks of flats in 1981, 14 years old... still looks grim to this day
Yeah, most of it was filmed in Druids Heath m,Chelmsley Wood, and Coventry .
Record shop sequence filmed at kingstanding circle shopping centre.
Yep i recognised the Druids Heath flats
Motorway scenes near Tame Bridge Parkway saw them filming there aswell
my cousins lived in manningford road in the 70's
I didn't expect to see this trailer... I have no idea if "Birmingham 1981" has any significance... I don't really know any of the actors... But I didn't know how much I wanted to see a show like this either. I do now.
every 30s it pivoted to a new genre. I am officially intrigued.
Handsworth riots was 1981 x this looks amazing
@@naomiwithers8361 Thank you. I really appreciate that.
@@THE_Dodge_Morningstar You don't really know any of the actors, really????
Example: Michelle Dockery has bee in loads of stuff from Film, TV, and screen!
Off top fof my head she was in massive hiti show: Downtown Abbey-I never watched it but obviously knew she was in it being advertised in loads ofstuff and her being interviewed!
+ would also flick over and saw it on etc
Birmingham is a dump then still is today .
So looking forward to this. Totally my era
I see my home City of Coventry in a few scenes, can't wait!
Cov girl here. Still in me Harrington 😎
Druids heath my childhood home, best place ever
@@vaderstar where you from ?
Brilliant drama, just finished it & loved every moment
This is an absolute masterpiece a MUST watch
Cannot wait for this !!!Tickes all the boxes for me ....And in Brum ❤
This country makes the best dramas ever
Brum is my hometown so gotta give this a watch also love all things 80s so I think I’m really gonna enjoy it 😁🫶🏽
50yr old chelmsly wood boy here.
They got the look of the place back then spot on.
Did they, can't wait to watch, remember the flats being demolished. It was on the news. Bit like peaky blinders, the original buildings are gone so they had to film elsewhere.
Dross from Knight the beeb luvvie! I saw the Coventry Automatics at the General Wolfe in Coventry & weeks later they were The Specials supporting The Clash in London.
Its good to see Coventry represented because thats where it started...2 tone
This looks like it will be great. I'm going to have to find a way to stream it
@@vaderstar I'm from the New York can I watch BBC in america?
that bit at the start is in Wolverhampton, not Birmingham :D
Yay! Up the Wolves!!
This is pure magic loved it sad, breathtaking and hilarious. The relationships are pure vibes! Bah! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The perfect actor for muhammad ali biopic
Hope we’ll be able to watch this in the U.S.!
After they retitle it, because The Specials weren't heavily featured, on MTV.
Don’t… It’s atrocious and an atrocity to that period and the city it is trying to reflect! The set manager is brilliant, but the story is a dogs dinner! Some of the people are based on characters that still exist! I hope he has bodyguards as some of them may want to have a word with him! 😂
I just remembered Geowizard stumbling across the set of this on a no roads mission
Just watched first three episodes, wow this is quality
Looks ok, nothing will surpass Peaky for me.
I'll watch it for the music.
I'm an 80's gal 🎉🥳🍾🎈👯huge 'Specials' and 'Madness' fan.
Lucky to go to the Premiere screening last night at Birmingham Town Hall. Absolutely brilliant writing and acting.
It’s terrible! 😂
It's so bad
I think you must have accidentally gone to the wrong screening..!
From Birmingham came the biggest selling reggae band of all time also one of the biggest heavy metal acts
UB40
Ozzy Osbourne
Twenty minutes down the road half of Led Zeppelin Robert plant and John Bonham.
💯🎶❤️🙏
This looks awesome
The perfect cast for a Mohammed Ali biopic
Will Smith already crushed that movie haha
Cant wait!!looks good🏁🏁🏁
Bloody hell im in Canada I hope it will show here
This here is right up my alley
This here is right up my street - Can’t believe they filmed some of this in Druid’s Heath, most forgotten area in Birmingham.
2nd series?
WE MUST HAVE A 2ND SERIES!!!
Really enjoyed this drama ❤
It's a good job BBC keep plugging Steven Knight's name or I wouldn't have given this a second glance.
Lol okay?
@@hez859 what's funny?
@@carladean6117 The Show! It is terrible… He was been taken over by the BBC Woke mind virus and his last few efforts have every indication that he can now only create by committee, with tick box casting and character points! My Evidence is he could have done a series on Black Sabbath and the birth of heavy metal in 1969 in Birmingham that changed the face of music, but he said he wasn’t interested! Or the rise of New Romantics that was independent of London that spawned Duran Duran in 1979, the band that shut down a street in New York when they arrived there for the first time! Only The Beatles had done that, since Sinatra and Elvis! But because of Diversity quoters and the bands being White, that can never be produced today under the banner of the BBC! Or the Arts Council!

I’m in! Where is this streaming in the US?
Not to be melodramatic, but it quite literally pains me to have a trailer this brilliant dangled over me, only to see those dreaded words, “BBC iPlayer.”😖 Hopefully the Peaky Pedigree will help to ensure a stateside release!!🤞🙏
from Druids Heath where they filmed it! Nothing to add that's interesting, just asking for prayers because of where I live
Yo get this man to play Muhammad Ali quick we could use another bio movie. 👍🏾
Stephen is killing it rn
Can’t wait ❤️
Saw this on a billboard, was sold after seeing "Peaky Blinders" in the same breath.
can wait to see this town and David Dawson acting
This looks wonderful ❤🤘
They filmed parts of this in Stoke-on-Trent
I thought Two tune was found in Coventry by the specials. So why they based it in Birmingham
2 Tone was founded by Jerry Dammers
Your right mate and I'm from brum Steven Knight is a clueless lovie
You do realise it's not actually a series about two tone...that's just in the background not sure why it's even being sold as a "two tone drama"

This kid should act as Muhammad Ali at one point!
Funny U and say that.... thought he looked like sum1 I knew...
@@user-ir7nm1pn2k And also, funny you should mention that, as he beat up five skinheads in the club(they all waited for their turn instead of all jumping on him) with ease and his brother recommended that he should get into boxing.
Where and when can we watch in the US?
great expectation
Not too sure whu UB40 aren't heard in this. They weren't 2tone but they were allies to the new musical label (present arms first UB40 album)....Sadly, In 1981 2tone died, Madness left to go to Stiff records and Terry, nevil and lynval became FB3. The media and uk fan base all took a shine to new romantics and synth pop. Hard to believe that UB40 and Duran Duran are both musical opposites in 1981, but both from Birmingham...
Will probably be good entertainment, but not looking like it's historically accurate, but not many people seem to care about that now. Anyway, let's wait for the whole thing.
As if everything was historically accurate before 😂
@@TheKh65Of course not. But when there are scores of people who lived through an era & are still only in their 60s, there's no excuse not to make an effort.
It's a moderately entertaining mess of a show!
Looks like every show about revolution with the same trope casting as every show on tv
The actor looks like muhammad ali
None of the cast are from Birmingham, closest is from Halesowen.
where can I watch this from Brazil??
So it's out now?
Geowizard bought me here by accident
The music just remind me with Utopia series
Steven Knight has excelled again! I binge watched the series yesterday on BBC IPlayer. My favourite episode is 6, as I play the Bouncer on the Soho club at the start 😉
lol
Actually, to be sincerely honest in my humble opinion, without being sentimental and of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, and without lies to the actual truth, with my clear open mind and clean heart, expressing what ever is embedded inside me for a long time which I didn't say because I was nervous. But today by gathering all the courage and motivation, I just want to say that I actually feel and think that I have absolutely nothing to say. Thank you!
How can I see this in the US?
🏴☠
What’s the track at the start of the trailer, after Dante says wishing well ?
what is the name of the first song?
Interesting choice leaving the ghosts out of the trailer
Looks rally promsing!
Interesting!
Roscosmos was established in 1992. Where did he get a Roscosmos spacesuit in 1981?

I didn't expect such a crime drama tone but I can't wait to see what happens
Some of scenes are filmed in Wolverhampton.. this story could have been based on some real life rude boys, who were active in that period.. it’s a must watch for me …
