Jonny Edgar had a mega season in ELMS this year! His teammates were one of the best around but the pace he showed during his stints compared to the other drivers was surprising to me!
Unfortunately it very much seems that way. A bit odd that he hasn't really been linked to any other opportunities publicly afaik. You'd think he is a pretty attractive target for FE / WEC
Nice video idea this one! And as someone who watches lots of sports car racing I can agree on all 5 of these 😀 I’d say Masson’s been most impressive - brilliant in ELMS (easily the best Silver there) and also at Le Mans this year but unfortunately the Lexus just hasn’t been very competitive in WEC. Sounds like he’ll be doing SFL + ELMS LMP2 (+ a few WEC LMGT3 outings filling in for Barnicoat) so seems he’s really impressed Toyota a lot this year + in the Bahrain rookie test, should be a great year for him despite the promotion to Gold! Also thoughts on Will Green to the Williams Academy? 🧐 Could kinda see it coming with him joining Infinity Sports Management (they seem to be really good at helping their drivers into f1 academies) but his record is really good so far although I haven’t seen him race really. But he’ll be in OKJ next year which should be very interesting to see, if he can have a rookie year similar to someone like Baglin that would be very impressive imo Jamie Green clearly passed on his talent to his kids tho 😅 bc I remember Zac Green was also very competitive at the world champs this year
Good to hear Masson has a nice bit of racing lined up, I watch a lot of sportscar racing but often do a terrible job of keeping up with the news haha Regarding Will Green, I have watched him smash the IAME Euro series, kid does look talented for sure but imo signing them before they ever even competed in juniors makes little sense to me. So probably only there this early because of his connections. This is really just me being against the concept of signing 11 year olds. But I could absolutely see him doing really well in OKJ so I do like the Baglin example.
I mostly know of Edgar due to his comeback to F3 after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which ultimately culminated in winning his final F3 race. Great to see that he's doing well in Sportscars. What would you say are the top Sportscar championships? Obviously WEC and IMSA I imagine, but what would you say about the various regional series like ELMS or GTWC-Europe? Why would a promotion to Gold status be a bad thing? It's quite fun when you find that you share a birthday with a sportsperson, or indeed anyone famous. I found out a while ago that I share my birthday with Anton de Pasquale (he's four years older than me), scientist Alexander von Humboldt, actor Sam Neill and the singer Amy Winehouse, among others.
The way I see it the two top series are specifically Hypercar / GTP in WEC and IMSA respectively. GTWC Europe is hands down the strongest GT3 grid in the world, even if of course WEC / IMSA / ELMS also have pretty strong lineups in their respective GT3 class. Special place for DTM as the only full pro, single driver per car format, if only the grid was big bigger. Overall WEC / IMSA / GTWC EU and ELMS are so closely matched (maybe throw in IGTC as well) that it really depends on what exactly you are driving imo. The FIA driver status determines what driver lineups you can have in your car. In WEC - unfortunately - it isn't an all-Pro lineup in the GT3s. Instead they have mandated a combo of Bronze/Silver/Gold or Plat. So a really quick silver can give you a huge advantage and thus these guys are in high demand with all the financial benefits that comes with. Once you get upgraded to gold you are just a young, new-ish Pro driver among many, many others. Much more difficult market to compete in as it were
Cool move for the lead but not too surprised he was one of the quicker guys there. So this was not the best test of his abilities but if he ends up competing in Europe next year I'm pretty confident he'll be near the front.
Unfortunately I think the same old reason, no more budget and not important enough for an F1 team to come in an save his career. Damn shame. Interestingly his stint in the Brazilian Stockcars apparently isn't going particularly well either but I don't watch that series so I'm assuming that based on wikipedia.
this is exactly the right niche and level of output needed to grow something here! keep it up :)
Appreciate it! I'll do my best to keep 'em coming haha

And considering he'll have Ben Keating as his AM I think should have a solid shot at that WEC GT3 title next year
Richard Verschoor will sadly one day be on this list.

Why did I think this was gonna be about drivers who ended up being famous djs or something 🤦 great video as always, thanks mate
Tbf if I happen to come across enough drivers who have ended up as famous DJs that will most definitely also be a video 😁

Interesting different topic idea. Nice video
Cheers - winter break is the best time to get creative 😁

drivers like these being mentioned always reminds me of hadrien david, what couldve been...
Hadrian David maybe? 😂
What do u think of weldon race weekend in the f4 trophy weekend and is this a showing of what he might do next year

Can you please update us why Gianluca petecof suddenly disappeared from single seaters despite being freca champion ?
