Anyone who says this anime is boring is used to too many low quality animes that just throw explosions and rapid fight scenes into your face. This is a slow burn story about characters getting over grief and learning to rely on each other. If you don't like it, I highly suggest you slow down on all the shows that give instant gratification. They really are ruining your ability to enjoy a well done story.

Joe Devaney It's not preference if they shit on a show they call "slow", even though it is a Slice-Of-Life RPG anime which is intentionally done for character development.And about that, the character development this show gets is high.We not only look at it from one perspective but from several people's.This show isn't your stereotypical "Strong MC gets OP and has fame and fortune outside his door whilst he can bang the hot chick" show.You want a show like that;I suggest you watch SAO.This is about daily life in a world you don't know, from people who don't even know where they came from.Apologies if our MC isn't an OP fucktard like Kirito though,we like non-OP MCs here in the mature section of anime.

If you haven't seen this anime yet I really suggest you watch it I rate it 10/10 just wish it had a second season

This is a really great anime. I agree with the 10/10 unless this isn't your taste then that's fine. This is a bit realistic and a fine detailed anime of survival. This is perfect for people who watch had too many animes before and are now looking for a something new and simple.

For everyone who wants a season two, buy some merch. Buy the dvd, buy the light novels, or buy the soundtrack. By supporting the franchise, you can give it a chance at a second season.
Only reason we don't have one yet is because the anime broke even on production costs in Japan so 5/5 agree
Some people watched it on illegal websites that dont pay the studio that created grimgar so there was a lot of lost revenue

Has one of the most emotional and consequential character deaths in any anime I’ve watched. Even after that certain person dies you can still feel the hole left by them.

Man this anime is so depressing, but in like a super hopeful way. The realism and reality of the real threat of death and permanence of it all is so captivating. I wish there was a season 2. This deserves so much more attention.
This is the only anime that gets me to feel what it really is to be summoned in fantasy world. It's so realistic on how real people with no op / no sense powers will try to survive. Lastly this is the only anime where I read all the LN from vol 1-15 and it's really breathtaking because of all deaths . No one is safe and has plot armor.

Honestly a really underrated anime. MAL ratings are fucking absurd, with 2/10 being one of the top rated reviews ... This is one of the most realistic representations of the isekai genre, which is oversaturated with terrible pandering drivel. The way they handle really heavy subjects is really astounding and should be aspired to by other studios. I really hope a second season is made, but for now I've started reading the LNs and can recommend other fans do the same

And the art style is fucking sick. Washed out watercolor backgrounds turned out really beautiful and a cool contrast to the sharp character art.

Another thing also, which I just noticed, are the characters' clothing in later episodes. It just looks more unique than the average D&D anime clothing

There's lots of D&D animes. This is very good at telling it's particular kind of character-focused story, though. Assuming my impressions from seeing the first two episodes so far are accurate. I'm really noticing that this anime is like the '97 Berserk anime, in that it really gives time for the characters to breathe in between the exciting scenes. It emphasizes their personality in subtle ways.

One of my fav anime. I was so sad they didnt go for a season two. Which drove me to read the light novels to find out what happened. Yo the novels are insane. This series picks up in action really quick and gets crazy after the first season. The first season is pretty slow compared to everything that happens afterwards. They need an anime adaption pronto!

best MMORPG anime out there. why? coz its so real. shows the consequences of real life battle, loss, and even the emotions of the beasts you are fighting. The best i like is the relationship of the characters. Its so raw, and shows real life interactions and tensions you will feel. e.g. Introverted vs extraverted, creating tension based on assumption and the danger of misunderstanding. And the fight sequence is real too. Unlike other MMORPG anime, Grimgar doesnt make you require a legendary rare sword or weapon to be op. A arrow shot with good accuracy is dangerous as any cool looking legendary weapons. This is why I love it.
This anime’s story and character development is so good. Needs a season 2.
I'd rather not have a season two, than a forced season 2 that is disappointing. Some anime are just better as one offs.
@@jstuckless Who's saying it'd be forced? For one this anime is an adaptation, therefor nothing would be forced because the author already continued the story far beyond what the anime covered. Second, the anime's ending was open ended on purpose in case it got renewed for a second season. I really, really am hoping for a season 2 and beyond, but after so long I don't think it's happening.

I heard the anime was created to promote the LN, you can get a translated version of it which I suggest you read. Very good LN.
Actually s2 will maybe come out on 2019 this fall ...that's what I read on the news ..but they don't know the exact day when is gonna come out so....I guess your gonna wait and see...I hope they do make it

This show hit the feels so much
Finally watched it and, I kind of feel bad seeing the goblins die. They made them so intelligent and humanlike, with emotions and hobbies (in a hideout you see two goblins playing chess while another pretends to shoot his comrade on patrol and then giggles). They are just trying to survive like the human adventures :(

This might be the best isekai I've ever watched. The art, the direction, the narrative, the little silent moments between the lines and the looks the characters give each other are so natural. The story gives you real and smooth character growth. I NEED A SEASON 2 CRUNCHYROLL!!

Season 1 is one of my favorite animes.
"From the studio behind Fairy Tail and Sword Art Online" well if I haven't watched Grimgar already I wouldn't do it after reading this. Grimgar is by far the best A1 anime I watched so far, still unpopular compared with those -craps-
A1 does create some pretty mediocre shit, but sometimes they give us hidden gems such as this anime and my personal favorite romance anime Wotakoi. It's not necessarily A1s fault that the source material is crap, but there are also situations where they do ruin a show, such as IMO Fate/Apocrypha.

I'm pretty new to anime, so no clue whether or not it is considered high quality, but holy shit the 2 fight sequences at the end convinced me to watch this. That was beautifully done.

Got baited into thinking this was for season 2, now im rewatching this so i guess it balances out.
As someone who read a good number of the LN's I really wish they made an OVA special. The book for where the anime left off is so action-y. It would work great as an hour long or 45 minute special.
Though I feel the books take a turn in direction later after that though.
This is the only anime which has a stunning fight scene in a rpg setting. I watched a video explaining why the action scenes were mesmerizing, the video mentioned something about the *weight* is shown in the action scenes

This is the most interesting and enjoyable for me in all of isekai anime up to this date. Yes, we can now watch Mushoku Tensei but for me Grimgar has more to give in terms of story telling.
