- I decided to take a 23andme DNA test and find out where I come from. This is something I've been wanting to do for a really long time and couldn't wait to test and see my results. 🧬
For those of you who don't know, I am Thai (both parents born and raised in Thailand) while I was born and raised in London. Before I took the DNA test, I kinda knew what to expect but I also feel like there might be something that I might not know about.
So without further ado, here are my results and I hope you enjoy the video!

Austronesian people☝
I dont need a DNA test to say that you are 100% beautiful
Rizz from 4 years ago was straight up smooth 😂
@@OcidadLmao right?
As for everyone who did ancestral dna tests: do you know that every now and then, you could check your dna result and report to see if there are any updates. Updates change over the years. I check mine once every few months.
For South Asia you are most likely Nepali or Bangladeshi/Northeast Indian. They are the group of South Asia who have the highest amount of native East Asian DNA (anywhere from 15% to 75%). Much of Eastern Bangladesh and Northeast India was actually part of Myanmar before the Mughal Empire came. Fun Fact, Bangladeshis are actually the ones who brought Buddhism to Tibet and Myanmar. The Myanmar part kinda isn't accurate because the kingdom responsible was the Arkan Kingdom which included both Southeast Bangladesh and Western Myanmar. Anyways most Burmese people are on average 10-15% Bangladeshi/Northeast Indian, so its very possible within the last 1,500 years you have a Bangladeshi/ Northeast Indian or Burmese ancestor who came into Thailand along with the spread of Buddhism and that's where the South Asian came from
Nope! Definitely not NE Indian cause it's not possible. Many Thais do have South Asian ancestry. I'm NE Indian (Assamese) and I also have South Asian ancestry along with East Asian and Southeast Asian ancestry.
Whatever it says, first of all: you are GORGEOUS & BEAUTIFUL, a rare eye candy. Congrats.
Thank you! :)
“Burma/Thai/Indonesia/Cambodia” is a term coined for Austro-Asiatic speaking people. If you are one of Tai-Kadai, you should get “Chinese Dai” I suspect you ancestors came from northeast region which is full of mon-Khmer people you are probably an assimilated Thai person.
Dai is part austroasiatic too from the paternal line.
Im khmer and thai related to khmer cause khmer born first and i think that some indigeneous khmer people are thai now
@bujk ha yeah my cousin shes khmer but she can speak only normal thai but like the technology words she doesnt know
Some Tai Ahoms from Assam have got Chinese Dai ancestry around 1% - 1.8%
Facts
I think that part/title "East Asian & Native American" is really confusing. It doesn't mean you're Native American, but 23andMe puts East Asians and Native Americans in the same category, and under this there are sub categories including Southeast Asian (Thai, Indonesian, etc.)...
Native Americans came from South East Asia. Native Americans are Asians. their ethnicity is part of the Mongoloid race.
Native Americans have travelled from Asian continent to American continent through Siberia - Alaska all the way down to South America
@@DT-wc8jy Um NO
@@DT-wc8jy No, they are not from South east asia, lol. They originated from North east asia and north asia
thats what iam talking theres no native american at the bottom
Im Thai as well so this was very informative for when I'm ordering this test. Im guessing the European in you came from either the Filipino part and or the Vietnamese part, since these countries had either West or South European rulers in them at one time. Were you able to click on the +9 regions it sais under China en the
+4 regions under the Indonesian, Thai, Khmer & Myanmar part?
Yup! You click on these countries to know more about the regions in them.
@@BelindaNorm From what regions of the +4 regions and +9 regions are you as well according to the test? (If that's not to much to ask).
Not only that but small portions of Europeans stayed and lived in sea for long periods and it was harder to go back home by boat during the old times.
Our eyes won't lie, southeast asians look the same so we are just one with just a small difference
Great results! You should see 23andme blog - they explain for example what means chromosomes, which are shown in under your ancestry composition - you have two pairs of them. Upper line (chromosome in pair) is from your mom side, lower line (chromosome) is from your dad side. For me I knew that in second half of 18th and first half of 19th century I had German-Austrian and French ancestors (it's only 1.5% of my DNA) and that they were ancestors of my mom and 23andme showed me that my French-German DNA is my upper chromosome in a 9th pair, which is correct. It can helps you to find out your family history :) Sorry for my bad English...
You are 100% beautiful, that is all that counts. Take another test in ten years and your results will change.
You are mostly Cambodian and Lao i think
More thai and cambodian
@@somsaksompong689 Patambong in Cambodia and Chapasak in Lao. @3:57 Very precise ancestors details.
Yeah she is mix of Cambodian and Laotian. I know people who are khmer-lao mix depending on which side of the family they live with in a community, one can either be fluent in Khmer language or Lao language. An example would be if your Father is Lao and your mother is Khmer. Your mother most likely to speak more Khmer as the father doing work.
Dai is common DNA for most Thai but she doesn’t have this one.
To probably answer your questions about how Europeans traveled the world especially to a place like asia. There was the silk roads that allowed people to travel by camels which can hold water in their bodies for days. There was also european ships and also alot of trading went on between europe and south east asia. Wasnt one of the best friends of an ayutthaya king from Greece?
I just did this test! My whole life I grew up thinking I was 100% Laotian. My DNA tests say I’m 38% Laotian, 38% Vietnamese, 23% Chinese. I expected the Chinese but the Vietnamese is throwing me off. I’m tempted to try ancestry DNA too lol
pretty normal , Vietnam used to rule part of laos in ancient time up until French come , the province was call tran ninh , heck in some point we rule half of lao and there been a west march during the Le dynasty that reach to northern thai and border of Myanmar ( they found a Le dynasty canon with the mark name of the unit that are writen in Vietnam record doing west march in northern thai , so not suprising if thai have Vietnamese dna too cause we all know what soldier did in long campaign far from home , lao have Vietnamese dna is diffirent story , cause there been Vietnamese migrate to the tran ninh province and mixing with the local population for generation and those people may have been assimilate into Laotian population )
I guess Chinese Dai, not Chinese
Look where laos and vietnam locate
Fun fact: Lao (Tai-kadai)/ethnic Lao peoples are the original founders of China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Burma, Northeast India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Hawaii.
@@oneviwatara9384 hahah no!! you out of your mind show some accurate history
Bruhh your accent is so beautiful and you are to
Also: the test puts native American and East Asian in one category I think. So if you are from East Asia 100% it still is going to show up in the category 'East Asian and native American', because they are put under the same 'umbrella' so to say. But in that case you are 0% Native American. Same with the 'Indonesian, Khmer, Thai, etc. Category'. I think you have to look at what folds out under that category to see what exactly you are from that category. In your case, I don't think that you are Indonesian, because it clearly sais from that category that you are Cambodian and Lao. But it is strange to me that no Thai showed up, that's why I'm wondering if you could click further to see if Thai shows up in you.
same thing DNA tests carried out in Indonesian institutions to Indonesians test DNA / genetic who appear all different from what is thought like Javanese tests and the result is having a high DNA East Asian categories are China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos etc. .. the results of the DNA were surprising that the DNA in him originated from Taiwan / Yunnan and there was no Indonesian DNA in him ... in conclusion Indonesian society was all is mixed blood nothing pure :
With trace ancestry I would take that with a grain of salt, it's a trace result which can change in an update... same for unassigned that should change in an update, which I do think they have done an update since...
I believe if you check the 23andMe update the Native American is likely no longer highlighted. I would bet 23andMe is no longer showing any European for you as well. A few ethnic groups of Southeast Asia have also been updated. One showing up is "Chinese Dai" an ethnic group of which historically some folks moved south from China to Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. Native Americas are a subset of Asian DNA from long ago. DNA companies have now largely figured out how to distinguish the differences. I've taken five DNA tests and tested three siblings.
I used 23and me and Chinese genetics company wegene. I am 75% han Chinese, 75%native American, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Malay, Indian, Pakistan, Russian, Kazakh, Tajik, Afghan, Burmese.
wow you have a high percent of United States blood
I definitely wonder what the updates say now.
🤔 Do the Thai people have an identity crisis? Imagine if they did a DNA test and find out their part Cambodian. Would they accept it or not. Seen a lot of internet trolls from the Thai side bashing their neighbors. Don't really understand about that.
The origin of Thai are Tai-kadai who migrated from south of China but of course they are also mixed with other countries in region since 1000 years ago. In the past there is no country just Kingdoms so people can move around everywhere they wants to and joined in Kingdom just like poor Chinese who migrated to Southeast Asian. In Thailand they have many kind of mixed including Cambodian root and even many part of Cambodia Laos Myanmar and Malaysia used to be part of Thailand before we separated by European power. There are 3-4 provinces in northeast part are well known full of Cambodia ethnicity and I think we have Cambodian DNA in every part of Thailand if we get DNA test because long story of mixed. The history of wars among us just making them bashing to each others.
@@sokapokvic2514 You should do a DNA test. It is quite interesting to read the data. I've done it myself including my cousin in law who are Chippewa indian and part Irish.
@@Katcom111 I'm pretty sure there are millions of Cambodian ethic in Thailand especially in Northeast part of Thailand.
@Old time Homesickness Blame it on the rulers who replaced by another ruler with the political role and languages. This happens to every kingdom not just in Asia. There is Tai-Lao ancestry in Cambodia. I know that the Phuan from northern Laos has been relocated several times around Siam and worked as laborers with the Khmer and later end up in Battambang and northern Cambodia. According to a census in the 1800s about 5000 Phuan were in Cambodia. Not all Khmer have Tai ancestry. I would say like Southern Chinese or Viet mix and you got the ones that are indigenous mix like Samre, Chong, Por, Kui, Phnong. There are indigenous group that would consider themselves Khmer it's because there used to assimilating to Khmer society. The pearic groups are genetically close to the Khmer. I know Kampot in the past had a major mix of Khmer-Cham/malay this is recorded by a French explorer when he visited a village to attend a festival in the 1870s. It is mentioned in his book about diversity in Cambodia.
@P Everybody is bashing everybody. It's just that people should turn on their government for making changes that affects the society.
Any new updates on the data systems? Like more info.
Which part of Thailand are you from? The North, Northeast, Central, or South?
So you are exactly indonesian no doubt
My mom (whos from thailand) also did a dna test ( we already knew about thai and south chinese) , her test came out with mainly thai/south chinese and small % of vietnamese , lao and south asian (india / pakistan)
i think anyone whos from thailand will have some southern chinese blood no matter what anyway
@@kyogofurahashi yeah thats already included in the thai/lao/khmer/myanmar category. all these are austroasiatic people that came from southern china in the past so its already part of their dna.
@@yoloswag1357 Indochinese were pretty much originated from Southern China before the southward expansion of Han-Chinese. And many Indigenous peoples in Southern China had been assimilated into the Han population hence many Southern Han-Chinese today have some genetic ties to Indochinese. Vietnamese being the most sinicized of all Southeast Asians. While Indonesians and Malays have more genetic influence from Indians.

If in Indonesia you will find two balances between austroasiatic and austronesian on the island of Java, especially the Javanese
Sundanese, javanese and balinese is more austroasiatic than austronesian. That's why Indonesia is included in the Thai, Kmer and Myanmar groups.
Please, what is your maternal haplogroup?
Did mine 96% Asian and 3% European
People mainly traveled with boats and later with ships actually. Thats how europeans found other continents the first time.
Native Americans originally came from Siberia and East Asia, during the Ice Age they crossed the Bering Straits (the part in the very north of the Pacific Ocean which links the very tip of Eastern Russia to Alaska). Native Americans and East Asians share the same genetics, the6 are lactose intolerance too. Belinda as you having European roots: this was more likely due to all the ancient trade routes especially the Silk Road where people had to walk long ways making arduous journeys to trade and settle in lands unknown
what about hawai iam not sure where they came from

Hawaiians are Polynesian that migrated around 5 century AD to Islands.
direct ancestors of the Polynesians were the Neolithic Lapita culture, which emerged in Island Melanesia and Micronesia at around 1500 BC from a convergence of migration waves of Austronesians originating from both Island Southeast Asia to the west and an earlier Austronesian migration to Micronesia to the north.

12:30 Native Americans originated from Asia...mainly the northern parts of Asian like Siberia and eastern Russia which is why they look very similar to Asian people, and is also why 23andme has that category “East Asian and Native American” because they’re similar, but not the same. That broadly East Asian and Native American is more than likely just East Asian dna haha
Native americans did not come from east russia (but youre right about siberia) , they came from certain regions in siberia (like u also said) and east parts of asia (mainly the mongolian part). My granddad knew a lot about this , hes also half native.
@dek heay SEA do not have a 100% specific look, SEA can look east asian (facial features). Also east asians (well mainly chinese) can look SEA (also talking about facial feat).
