My NBC affiliate at the time was still WPTF and this was the last year before they changed to WRDC and infamously fired the entire news staff. They could not use this slogan because WRAL already used it first for years going back to when they were still an ABC station. So they used to the same campaign slogan “the one to watch.” WNCN used that in the early days of their NBC affiliation.
