If you like metroidvania with good movement system and option try this : Aeterna Noctis
18:40 On my first playthrough I thought for sure that eye was a boss off in the distance that I was working my way towards and would have to fight. I was a little disappointed when it never happened.
My personal favorites are the Igavanias, Metroid as a whole, Hollow Knight and Ender Lilies. I've tried most of the other "worthwhile" indie alternatives and most of them really are just mid. Blasphemous 2 seems solid so far but I haven't played much. Souldiers looks pretty but is lacking in so so many ways. Either way here's hoping for a DS Collection for Castlevania, and the release of Silk Song and Crowsworn.
Blasphemous 2 is much better than the first one. There is double jump, wall jumps, wall grabbing, sliding, air dashing, etc.
I do wonder, how you perform on Serio's Castlevania Fighter, might be good training for randomizer mods ❤

I had a seed like this last night in guarded og. It was just, ugh, no items, all the good movement was in the second castle, last Vlad was at Galamoth at least. Could’ve been holy symbol lol
Honestly reminded me of a season 3 safe logic without the confusion of item rando.
"Imagine SOTN with every boss in the series". Castlevania fighter is almost that. They made Alucard quite the same (equip shield rod and win almost automatically)
For Metroidvanias, I recommend the Shantae series of games if looking for a more chill, exploration focused game with a fun storyline and without insane combat.

You absolutely hit the nail on the head on why I like Dark Souls series. Exploration. It is so rewarding and it's what keeps me so interested in it. What comes up next, what secrets can I find on my own, and what on earth could I have missed that I want to go back for are ways to keep people coming back that crave that sort of experience.
I would really recommend Ender Lilies, yeah. It’s one of my favorite Metroidvanias on a gameplay *and* atmosphere level.
