Remember: Just because someone is the IGL on your team, and you lose a round and the stratigy of your IGL didn´t work doesn´t mean that you can just yell at him, telling him that it was his fault you losed the round. Also if you are the IGL, you are not the king of the world and you are not the best player in the world, so stay kind and nice.
For people in lower ranks, try to play with friends, not only you become more consistent as you are not changing allies constantly, but also it's easier to sort of IGL, cuz ofc your friends are more willing to listen to you

I think default is a bad com. Same problem as "contact" but worse. Not even that people don't know what it means but It seems like it means something different to everyone. Maybe default spike plant is okay. But that's still a big assumption. Best to give short clear coms that can't be misunderstood.
ehh in higher elo's people definitely know what it means, but I do see how this could be an issue in the lower ranks, if that's the case where they don't understand it, you can always say, let's play slow, play for map control, or even play for picks.
Realistically, people in iron-silver only know “press w and 5 man rush site”. That doesn’t mean you can’t comm and play for yourself though. I’d actually argue that if you’re really under gold the only thing you need is to play more and that you SHOULD play for yourself, anyone who can shoot straight can get there without much strategy. But I digress. For an example of playing for yourself: if you notice 5 man rushing a site isn’t working, nothing is stopping you from being the guy who holds mid and/or flank control. Likewise if you notice your site keeps getting 5 man rushed, just because your instalock Jett keeps ego peeking main and dying doesn’t mean you have to be there to support them. Backing off and playing with your team will keep you alive and maybe, if you’re lucky, they’ll eventually realize that it isn’t working and they’ll stop (I wouldn’t count on it though).
Once you hit gold people will start knowing what defaulting means and they’ll implement a rudimentary version of that and other strategies, when comming it’s more of a matter of if they’ll listen because gold/plat is also when people start to realize they’re decent at the game and they get egos (i.e; one person says “let’s try comming and playing as a team” and the other says “try getting more kills LUL”). But I think around high gold/low plat people also start caring more about being good at the game and a good percent of people that actually want to climb will at least try to comm and play as a team.
Default is not a bad com. It is because people don't even know how to default. They usually, if not always, over pushing and then just to get caught in a 1v2 situation, or just simply lost to a duel every round.

@@wylle1566 so just give a more specific com. Otherwise you only have yourself to blame for assuming anyone on your team knew what "default" means for you. Even if you're going to call a "default" strat. Be specific. No matter the rank. This is about IGL. If you're just saying "let's go slow/default/rush a." It's not nearly as useful as a specific com like "hey raze can you come help me push dish. They've been rushing and grabbing orb every round. Let's punish them. Everyone else just play slow and wait for us to get the pick before exploding.".

it may feel that way, but at large this doesn't make any sense statistically, and it's important to realize that. If you're 100% sure that this is the case for you, I can guarantee you you have an issue in mentality which is contributing to you not climbing.
