Great footage as always Mike. Calmer makes some great products for farmers. You can get their kits for stock corn heads without the maintenance and hp loss of a chopping head. Really chews up the stalks for breakdown and gain combine performance with less stalk intake increasing speed and cleaning. Thanks mike!
Thanks for the video Mike. That Calmer corn head does a nice job. Haven't seen any Calmers around me. Maybe they will become more popular in time. Awesome drone footage as always Mike.👍🏻👍🏻
Great video Mike, when corn harvest starts it really makes you feel that the year is ticking by. Look forward to seeing other farms commencing Harvest.
If I were them, I'd keep combining. Warm weather and dry fields. A little extra dryer gas is way better than fighting mud and rainy weather. No dryer gas shortage in September.
Long time and no comments in a while. I'm still here liking 👍 your videos. By now, I believe when you see my name you already know I like Mike 👍. Thanks for sharing again. Happy subscriber 😊!
Good video Mike, looked like good weather to be doing corn, also looks like that corn would be perfect moisture to just keep going wouldn't be surprised if that's what they do too keep up the good work. Dave D.
Not sure if you were doing something with the sound or I just happened to set it just right on my end, but the truck and tractor sounds seemed to vibrate right through me like I was standing right there. Whatever, it was an awesome video.
Is there a significant advantage with the 15 inch rows? I guess for corn silage it would be maybe but strictly for grain? I know they know what they are doing, I'm just trying to figure out what kind of advantage it is. Great video as always Mike.
@@MrPaw45 Yes, they are spaced further apart in the row, so you have the same amount of plants per acer. The corn also won‘t grow as tall as 30 inch corn, instead it will get thicker and is less likely to lay down
This is field corn, so more for syrup, corn chips, livestock feed, or most probably ethanol for fuel. Sweet corn is harvested whole. Search for sweet corn harvest video to see the difference.
As green as some of that corn looks I would have guessed it was 35-40% moisture. Back when I was in the grain business I had a couple farmers who just had to try their corn when it was very wet and of course they would always bring this to my elevator. It was nearly impossible to make good dry corn out of this ground up junk so I would sell it wet to a cattle feedlot in my area.
@@davidsignor7931 Gave him a fair deal on it but if you didn't discount them pretty heavy then more farmers would bring in really wet stuff too. An old elevator man's saying was "if you don't discount off-grade grain, that will be all you get."
It depends on their farming practices. With 30" rows though, it's easier to interseed cover crops and have them receive enough sunlight to grow successfully.
Great footage, Mike! We're here anytime you need us! Have a safe harvest!
I see their trucks all the time when we are hauling waxy to Lafayette. Stop by sometime, Mike, if we're running when you're around!
Hauled new crop today
Love watching big green combines eat corn 🌽

I was really impressed with his scenes. The corn harvesting is going great with the sound of the machines
Enjoyed the video Mike, some pretty country up there
I can't wait to see more corn harvest videos from you 😉👍 thanks again Mike👍

Little green and moist for shelling I'd think. More like chopping conditions for earlage. Thanks for the video Mike, something a bit unique for sure.
Nope just fine
$8.50 corn pick it!!
Just cause plagnt is green dont mean anything
Its 25%
Perfect for shelling corn
Looks more like high moisture corn to me

Great video Mike that corn field looked pretty green yet
Thanks but Ive seen many times where the ear was dry but the plant was still green.
Great video 👍. Regards from Down Under.
What is the benefit of harvesting the corn early, plants still partially green, versus waiting until the corn is drier on the plant?
Grand harvest video!
Thanks a lot! 😊👍🏻
Great video Mike good to see you

Good footage Mike!
Great vídeo Mike.
15 inch spacing? That seems so tight you’d impact yield. Guess not though. Great video. Nice looking farm and setup. Thanks for sharing.

So is that 24 row 15" head equivalent to a 12 row 30" head???

15-20 bushel better
@@jasonbrier9957 Are the plants further apart within the row to have similar population to 30" rows, or is the population much higher?

Our dairy has been doing it for 18 years really like how fast the corn canopies the ground running 40 ppa
Next year you should do a video on Thiele Dairy chopping corn silage by Clearwater Nebraska
That'd be fine but I have no contact info for them.
That’s some green ass corn
Curious why combining if moisture is 28 to 30%
Always do

Mike do you see a lot of farmers hoping to keep the crops drying in the field to avoid the massive increase in fuel to keep the dryers running?
Greetings! In Germany we are almost done with corn Harvest :)
Thanks mike
What are their plans for that wet corn?
Done took it to Lafayette
$8.50 bu
is this corn used for corn syrup or for canning?

wow..15" rows would be tuff to culivate!!! LOL
Who cultivates most just spray
Moisture?
28 to 30%
He should be able to find a feedlot that wants that high moisture corn.
Still looks pretty green ?
At some corn farms in California, they usually still harvest corn at this stage
Sometimes the grain is dry, but the plant has some green left in it.
@@Beyonder8335 Yes, these ranchers have also chosen the right time to start harvesting corn

Making corn meal 30% 😋
😎😎
its too early for this
Agree, shelling the first week of Sept at 28% will never make sense to me

I dont pick down corn either
2 weeks late this year
Why do some farmers plant 15" rows vs 30"? Why do they even make 2 different widths, instead of all the same?
Yield advantages
Seems their ground is capable of handling tighter rows

Use sunlight better

I like Mike less videos on RUclips from the imperial co California.
Those are really green stalks. In Iowa harvest doesnt start until the green is gone.
