- Zoya Miari, a 24-year-old Palestinian Ukrainian refugee, tells TRT World that she has personally experienced Western double standards since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza. Miari’s Palestinian father met her mother while he was studying medicine in Ukraine.
The family lived in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon until 2021 when they moved to Ukraine, a country that they had to flee after the Russian invasion. The family, twice refugees, now lives in Switzerland and hopes that one day “Palestine and Ukraine will be free” to be able to go back home.

That explains a lot that you're from luhansk. You've been fed pro russian propaganda. I was in ukraine in 2015, met with several ethnic ukrainians who had fled the donbass because of how russia was killing them. Donbass was invaded by russia, with soldier in disguise torturing and killing ukrainians. Ukraine, rightfully, tried to repell them. That was no genocide. You should talk to some ethnic ukrainian from russia occupied territories in ukraine including crimea. Russia is the agressor. If russia had stated out of crimea and donbass we wouldnt be here. There were clashes between ethnic ukrainians and ethnic russians after euromaidan, but russia used it as an opportunity to invade. If russia had left ukraine figure out their struggle alone we wouldnt be here. The ethnic ukrainian refugees from donbass were the ones subjected to opression. The russian propaganda machine is as effective as israels. I have no doubt all your family has been fed the same narrative, that ukrainians are nazis and bombed donbass for no reasons... but thats BS. Russia shouldve stayed away.

This woman is in a unique position to rally support for both the Palestinian and Ukrainian causes because of her ancestry and experiences. 2: there is no point fighting for Ukraine, I went to Luhansk the last summer and the only difference was the flag and prices (everything became cheaper) and better roads and not the trash ones like we had, nobody is oppressed and everyone can speak Ukrainian as much as they like. And the thing is even if Ukraine manages to make stalemate it will have to repay the West for the support (everyone knows US doesn't support anyone for no reason) and it will obviously start selling land to NATO and US, so either way Ukraine will lose land and it doesn't have to lose all this people on front for lose-lose situation. So the only solution is for Ukraine to surrender because Russia will attack again anyways if Ukraine stalemates

For me (Luxembourger) it really bothers me that national groups can be usurped by another country, whether it be Palestine, Ukraine, Serbia (by Kosovo) etc.
@@Minnnty_grinnn I understand what you mean, I myself am from region of Luhansk (part of Donbas) and it's not about being part of Russia, it's all about living in peace and not being bombed by Ukraine (I didn't experience it myself tho), and Ukraine cutting water from our brothers in Donetsk, and all of that was happening for the whole 9 YEARS and nobody talks about this. The only option left for our protection is Russia, and now the rest of Ukraine has only 3 options
1:sell territories to nato because the support was obviously not free
2: stalemate, and wait for few years until war rages again which will be more bloody than now
3: just give up territories to Russia and become part of it just like it used to be before
I would choose the third option because I see people will live better like that, honestly I myself wish it never escalated like this between them two and just lived peacefully together like neighbours, but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it

Ok, I know I'm being the unpopular opinion here... But seeing what the west has been doing to Gaza COLLECTIVELY with very vew examples, really made me question, if Putins concerns about NATO in Ukraine aren't as baseless as the media try to make us believe.
Not saying he was right to invade. It just showed me the hypocricy and the real danger the west poses to basically any1 who doesn't obey.

The problem is people will only understand this when they are in Palestinians place getting the wrong end of NATO bombs.

Just as Zionazis act like history of the conflict began on October 7th (when in reality it started 1948), NATO goons act like the Ukraine proxy war started in 2021 (which actually started in 2014).
And yet the result of Putin's actions is that Finland and Sweden have joined NATO, whereas they were neutral previously.

Fact: Both conflicts are completely different.
Each conflict that has ever taken place in the history of humanity has had its own unique features. These two wars are very different in some ways, as Ukraine and Palestine are very different in their history and culture, but there are also many important similarities.

I'd actually support Palestine on the basis of humanity.
Yep, you do not need to be Muslim or Arab or Palestinian or Ukrainian or from some oppressed group to oppose genocide. But living through that experience certainly helps people understand. South Africa for example lived exactly through this under the apartheid regime, Ireland lived through colonization and forced starvation, so many in South American countries lived this. Meanwhile a rich white "liberal" in the US who has never known anything like this might oppose genocide in theory but then if their traffic gets blocked all empathy is lost and they start lecturing oppressed groups, whose oppression they benefit from what acceptable means of protests or resistance are. It goes for anti-genocide protests or ones like Black Lives Matter or even as far back Occupy Wallstreet or anti-Iraq war protests.

And there are many countries in the world where more than one language is spoken, this is normal. Russian-speaking people in Ukraine never wanted to be part of Russia, they never held a referendum asking for it, the Russian army did it, armed to the teeth and forcing civilians to vote in favor of something fraudulent after the invasion.
Israel has literally been created on Palestinian land that it invaded and has been violently occupying ever since. And Hamas received support from the Israeli leadership in order to split Palestinian unity and make a two-state solution impossible. Oct 7 was an atrocity, but pretending it happened out of the blue is ridiculous.

Ukraine elected a new president months after the previous one had fled, in a free and fair election - that's how we know the Revolution of Dignity was not a coup. About the Donbas, find us a single country that wouldn't do what Ukraine did - or worse - if one or more of its regions were taken over by heavily armed men from one day to the next.

I am sorry, but I don't agree... sure Israel didn't apparently do nice things in Palestine before the war, which not many people know much about (including me), but it is complicated since Israel was then attacked pretty clearly, so most people know that part and then stand with the elaged oppresed people, which from our point of view is Israel and Ukraine. Of course, we should treat all the refugees as human being that we can feel empathy with, but that should include the Russians, Ukrainians, Israelis, and Palestinians regardless of who started the war as they are mostly people that minded their own business before their politicians disturbed the peace... and it is not our job finding out who is a terrorist and who isn't, I feel like our government is going to have more information on that anyway.
Regardless, some people are going to use the war to do unspeakable things on BOTH sides of each conflict, so may they find God and repent, and may the wars end soon 🙏

i agree but not in the case of israelis, when people flock into an occupied land that its people have been oppressed/ killed and kicked out, u are colonial settlers, participating in the oppression and occupation and keeping the zionist project going. so no, they are not innocent. secondly, nearly 70% of israelis approve and cheer for whats happening in gaza. after all they enroll in the army or go to the west bank and kick out a family out their home for fun.and it speaks by itself how the israelis are by seeing what their soldiers do, i mean shooting children? for decades they keep doing that.thats all i need to know about israelis.
thirdly, israelis have telegram pages of all the crimes the IDF commits and they enjoy watching them on video and post comments like laughing etc. like someone being ran over and crushed by a tank, or corpses bulldozed, or a child shot and bleeding to death while a solider screaming at him and cursing him. Israel has been occupying Palestinian land and brutalising its people for decades. Actually Ukraine did much worse. Ukraine attacked the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics killing countless civilians. And unlike Israel the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics aren't states founded on ethnic cleansing.

The conflict had ground down to the extent 3 civilians died in armed engagements in the last 6 months before escalation and invasion: 2 in the insurgent 'republics', 1 in Ukrainian controlled territory. As reported by UN OHCHR, since 2014 the conflict in Eastern Ukraine incurred deaths over 14,000.That is on both sides. Most killed were Ukrainian whether in Ukrainian government controlled or russian occupied areas.
UN list 14 April 2014 -- Jan 31 2022: Taking into account the 298 people on board Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 which was downed on 17 July 2014, the total civilian death toll of the conflict has reached at least 3,405. The rest were military combatants. A remarkably low civilian death ratio compared to many modern conflicts. For the years 2014 to Jan 2022 Civilian deaths attributed to the conflict in each year were 2,084 , 854, 112,117, 55, 27, 26, 27. From 1 August 2021 to 31 January 2022: "Thirty-two civilian casualties resulted from armed engagements. 3 killed (2 men and 1 woman) and 29 injured".
So no, not "countless". And none of those deaths and injuries would have occurred if russia had not invaded Ukraine. Which is what russia did in 2014, when it became obvious that Ukraine would not be one of its vassal states, run by a puppet president and waiting obediently to be "reabsorbed" at some point in the future.
